    That is amazing! Easily the coolest resin project I’ve seen. If you don’t mind sharing, what kind of cost are you looking at here in regards to just the top (everything excluding the black walnut frame)? Thank you!

      Hi Derek, thank you 🙏🏻 I’m really enjoying this project big time. The cost for the resin was around $900 approximately 8 gallons, the black walnut for the frame was about $60 and the succulents, moss, earthy stuff lol 😂 was around $100 bucks. Slightly expensive but we will enjoy it for many years though.

      Thank you 🙏🏻 so much! I learned a lot on this build and had fun making it, so this one was a win for sure. Now it’s time to play on it and enjoy it!

    I've been getting interested in resin now for about a month. This is probably the most awesome piece I've seen so far. I have one question, instead of making the whole top resin, why didn't you just pour the resin onto a piece of wood that would become the bottom of the board? Seems you would have used less resin, probably been lighter and a bit stronger. Otherwise, this was an awesome project and gave me some motivation to make one myself. 👍👍👍

    This looks great, but how will the sun affect all that resin. will it yellow and darken quickly?

      Definitely depends on the epoxy. Just cover when not in use and quality epoxy ( which he is using) should stay clear for many years.

    Looks amazing but I’m curious about function. It looks very slick and looks like it has no bounce. Am I wrong or does this function like a proper board?

    • @flamabl1
      @flamabl1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boards don't "need" bounce. Just because almost all other boards have bounce since they are usually fairly thin and lightweight doesn't mean that's regulation ( or your completely undefined "proper" ) in any way. I guarantee you these boards have zero bounce and therefore all those slow on the uptake will call them faster. EEHHHH!!! wrong! In reality more of the force from the throw is maintained and not absorbed by the thinner boards and therefore they will appear to be faster. I have tested the usual poly acrylic finish and unpolished epoxy and they are virtually identical in speed. And if you don't agree then you can just poly over the epoxy. Yes it works just fine. The problem is he polished them and because of that they just may be faster.

    How much does that weigh? I hate moving ours around and it's just plywood. And the scratches after a few tournaments are going to make it where you can't see in it. Looks nice though!

    • @DesignsbyDonnie
      @DesignsbyDonnie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋 I’m not sure the weight, but just guessing though… as much as an engine block lol 😂 but I’m placing it in a permanent location with cover from weather. The future scratches does concern me and I have a solution (I think) but I’m saving it for a follow up video on a month or so after I see the wear and tear on it. But for now, let’s keep our fingers crossed that it doesn’t get beat up too badly! Thank you brother! 👊

      @@DesignsbyDonnie my man do you know how much I love this resin epoxy community I’ve stumbled into on TH-cam. And we’re all up coming channels too ! I’m doing my next table tomorrow on my channel.

      scratches from what? Bags? hilarious!

    • @canescup12
      @canescup12 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flamabl1 Yes bags, they scratch the boards. When you play cornhole you throw bags which land hard on the finish.

    I love it, but I'm guessing about $1k in epoxy per board?

    It looks great BUT as heavy as it may be and you made it look (by the way you were carrying it), I definitely would only make about 1/4" thick epoxy or maybe even 1/8". It looks great aside from that one small detail I, personally, would change

    • @DesignsbyDonnie
      @DesignsbyDonnie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Janie, this was a really fun project. With all this resin, it’s definitely heavy but I made it for a permanent location in my backyard. So we won’t be moving it around. I could add wheels though if i want to move it around. The plant life and succulents are around 2 inches tall so the resin had to be very thick to encapsulate it. I did research on that for weeks. I only wanted to pour about 1/4” of resin but then this idea with plants wouldn’t work. But I’m loving the outcome of this board. 👍

    • @flamabl1
      @flamabl1 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol, leave that 1/4" or 1/8" board out in the sun and see what you are left with. Ask questions first, make statements when you know from whence you speak.
