    I have had my dc39 for a few years and it was strange because there was absolutely no owners manual to tell me any of this! I’ve been so frustrated because it’s disgusting! I did’t even know the clear plastic bin could be seperated from
    the purple part. I washed mine all of these pieces with soap and water! I am so thrilled for this bideo! Thank hou so much!!!

    Own one of these and it needs this type of deep clean almost weekly to keep it running in a house that doesn’t have pets or excessive dust. The filter clogs so quickly and this stops the turbine head working, the vacuum loses suction rapidly, and the filter takes an age to properly dry. Often have to clean the vacuum fully mid-clean to keep enough suction for the turbine head to spin. From experience it can get this dirty after only a couple of full cleans of the house.

    This video was fantastic. Thank you. One thing I found out when I separated the bin from the purple part - I looked into the cone-shaped part of the purple and it was caked with dirt. I first took a swiffer and dusted inside all around it and then I tapped on it rather hard (not hard enough to do damage) and dirt literally poured out. So I took several more swiffers and pounding till it came sufficiently clean. I’m wondering if you could address this in another video. I’m supposing it was so dirty because I never separated it from the bin - never realized you could. So again thank you for your instructions.

    Thank you for the video, I retrieved a DC39 someone had put out to the garbage. I found behind the canister screen caked on drywall or cement dust. It appeared that someone had used it for a wet vac. It had little suction when I got it. I blew out a lot of the dirt and soaked and washed some parts and others I wiped off. I think the head is clogged up and I'll have to try to clean it out.

    4:55 The dust lining the inside of that area doesn’t matter as no air flows through that area. That is just where the smaller cyclones dump dust, it’s normal for that to be dusty but it doesn’t affect the performance of the machine.

    Oh my gosh... when you're cleaning the actual main cylinder part of the filter, you really need a can of air to get all of the dirt out of the center of it. If you don't have a can of air, you need to buy one or you will never get all of the dirt out of it. I actually use my air compressor! that is the only and I mean only way the dirt will come out of this machine. I ended up selling mine because it was so incredibly hard to clean. But if you are in love with your Dyson DC39, invest in a good can of air to clean that center cylinder! Also it comes in handy for cleaning all of the attachments as well. I can't believe he wouldn't suggest that!

    • @bradleywilkinson9805
      @bradleywilkinson9805 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't. Air doesn't flow through there. That is where the dirt and dust removed by the cyclones is deposited and it empties when you open the dirt bin. Having fine dust and particles in there does not affect the performance of the unit.

    • @amandarobbins397
      @amandarobbins397 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @Robonza
    @Robonza 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Actually the DC39 and DC37 has a design fault that causes the filter to get dirty very quickly. Almost every unit I see in my workshop has this issue, If you pull the cyclone apart you will find that the gasket has failed. The gaskets used in the DC39 are substandard and will fail in 5 years typically. I have not seen this issue in any other Dyson models

    • @postitnoteboy
      @postitnoteboy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've had my Dyson DC37 for 5 years (same model as the DC39) and I've never had to wash the filter. I bought a replacement filter, took out the old and washed it, but there was no dirt on it whatsoever... the vacuum works as good as day 1. Should I expect the filter to get dirty over time?

    Roger, I have a question about roller brushes on different vacuum cleaners. Are some brush rollers better than others?. For example my shark upright seems to skim across my thick living room carpet, picks up quite well but I just get the feeling the shark brush isn't that great on my living room thick carpet, take the shark upstairs & vacuum my bedrooms' thinner carpets and its a different story, you can really feel the shark brush working hard and picking up. My Vax upright brush works great on any carpet, think carpet or thin. Both vacuum cleaners (Vax & Shark) are in great condition. Thanks in advance.

    • @SaiBalroop12
      @SaiBalroop12 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andy Kirk Yes you always want a roller brush that when you turn it on the carpet vibrates. We call this agitation. It is good to have it break up the dirt in the carpet. The powerhead on this DC39 is not good. If you are cleaning carpets I would recommend a miele upright or a Dyson DC 40 2015 or Dyson Ball Multifloor.

    • @PatheticoMorbid
      @PatheticoMorbid 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I already have a Miele upright, it's a great vacuum cleaner, personally my fav. I was just testing this Shark upright Vacuum cleaner, not too impressed with it to tell you the truth, I might be doing the Shark an injustice as I'm always comparing it with my Miele upright. Thanks for the answer.

    At 2:00 you take the bin off. How exactly did you do that? I push the red button nothing happens. It doesn't separate like that. The reason I ask is that i have the 2 second problem. I turn it on. Air sucks in through the wand and hose like it is suppose to and then a valve of some kind shuts off that air flow while the motor continues to run. I am suspecting a problem in the bin and main body and not out in the wand and hose. There is a pile of dirt and lint in the bin. That is the one problem with TH-cam maintenance videos. Everything come apart like it is suppose to in TH-cam videos. Real life is sometimes a little different. In your video, the camera angle shows your hand over the bin and blocks my view of what you are doing. Since I am not Clark Kent with X-ray vision, I don't know EXACTLY what you are doing to make that bin come off.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This model does not have a red button to remove the bin, it’s a round silver button located on the cleaner body. Pressing the silver button allows the handle to pop up so the bin can be removed from the cleaner. You then use the red button on the bin to open the flap to empty the dirt.
      The valve you talk about allows air to flow through the motor when the airflow is restricted either from a blockage somewhere or a dirty filter. If the valve operates without the hose attached, then you have a blockage in the duct that takes dirt to the bin or a dirty filter.

    See; it's getting behind the mesh I want to do because there is a lot of dust in mine and now I've seen it I can't unsee it. It's driving me mad. Never buying a Dyson again.

      If you don’t like seeing dirt in a vacuum cleaner, buy a bagged machine.

      @@ibaisaic I got used to seeing the dirt in the cylinder. That isn't the problem. You have to have the right tools to dismantle a dyson in order to get at the trapped dirt in the cyclone behind the mesh. Washing the filter is only the beginning lol.

    cleaning filters, I understand that. But, cleaning all the internal surfaces is a waste of time. Those areas will be dirty again the first time you use it after cleaning it.
