What I would give to go back in time British people working hard on British soil . Living in Cornwall it’s a piece of the huge history in the region . Thank you !

Nice to see, a time long gone. All English people, noticed the men all wearing a shirt and tie even when working in the fields.

Ah, I was born too late. I would have loved to live there back then.

I'm a very very proud Cornish-boy, and I will never leave this awesome county. My Grandparents met when they were in lanivet school, during ww2. Most evenings they would go to the top of a hill called old coach Rd, from therein was possible to see a very faint glow of Plymouth being bombed by German bombers, this was over 50 miles . My gran was visiting her gran5in St.Blazey there was a humm of a engine and my gran sJd it was a German plane he was so low that my gran could see the crew in the plane, they waved to my gran who waved back, ne t thing my gran could remember was waking up in hospital and being told she survived a bomb that pilot dropped as he waved to her. There were more raids in Cornwall that weren't mentioned especially around Falmouth and Budoek-vean, this was due because of the huge numbers of allied forces training for the d-day landings, , awesome video

I was born in Redruth in 1944 during a German bomber raid on Falmouth and the tin mines. I don’t remember it though!

The Ministry of Information was telling the people what they were fighting for. Ironically it all changed so fast after the war.

Fantastic film, and yet disappointing! I had hoped to do a Then and Now comparative, seeking out the nominated places given, and then seeing them now on Google Maps. I have done this many times before, but on this occasion there appear to be some strange anomalies in the references spoken of. One example is Combe / Coombe Hampton. No matter how I tried, it appears elusive, or non extant. The only obvious place in the locality is Kilkhampton. Although the church tower seen of that place several times in the film seems correct, none of the professed views remotely marry to any that now exist. The church is slightly elevated in shots, and yet no such scenes exist anywhere around the town. I used old O/S maps, as usual, and again, nothing made any sense. I otherwise did find some of the farms mentioned, but little else. Can anyone kindly advise me at all? Thank you.

Poor actors doing voices - the second farmer sounds like he's from Ulster at times
