  • I had forgotten this was coming. The latest from FarmerTec, the G2500 JonCutter top handle chainsaw. This little gut is light weight and for its size seems to have a bit of power.
    This little guy is a clone of the Zenoah G2500T, Zenoah being owned by Husqvarna.

    I watched this video today after I unboxed my saw. I’m glad I did. I thought the chain brake was broken. I was afraid to use too much force. After watching you, I was able to make it function like it should. Thank you. You have a new subscriber too

    The bucking teeth really aren't necessary unless you plan to use one hand on a saw this small. I plan to get this saw soon for making various small notches on log furniture. Saws get heavier as you get older, AND saws are easier to control with short bars.

    I have the same saw. I bought it off eBay before joncutter started selling it. Decent little saw. I've only used it a few times. One thing I did not like is the screws that hold the dog teeth on are screwed into plastic. Seems a little flimsy, but no problems so far.

    I have the TimberPro version of this chainsaw. All of the "el cheapo" 25cc chainsaws seem to be of the same design, regardless of brand. My 25cc chainsaw is 3 of 4 stars, minor improvements needed, am waiting to get the JonCutter version to see if it is built better. These little chainsaws are extremely nice to run when limbing trails in dense pines.

    i bought this saw under the Dereal name. chainbrake is stiff as hell on these. 25:1 is too much oil for them the g2500 they are clones of runs 50:1. i feed mine 40:1 just like you and it runs great. starts in 3-4 pulls.

    I found this assembly helpful. Especially the part to unlock the bar for the cover to fit in. Confirmed the manual says 25:1 but the bottle has instructions for 40:1 and I did Octain 89 and 2-Cycle oil 40:1 mix and it worked just fine (google said not to use Octain 87 as it wasn't enough to combust). It would have been helpful for beginners to show : Gasoline mix with 2 cycle oil ( I bought conventional it was cheaper, and I figured it was a new engine, should I be using synthetic?), not the 10W30 oil which is for the chain separately (again conventional, should I be using synthetic?). I was also not familiar with how to unlock the choke to crank, this unit automatically closes the choke for you after it starts. I didn't realize I couldn't crank it unless I had the trigger pressed when I pull. I kept pulling just the crank and it just would not start I thought I was going to have to return it. I've only cut a 4 inch branch and its like butter. I plan to cut a tree down that's about 20" wide and about 30-40 ft with it. Mine shipped without the chain so I bought one from Amazon with the same specs 12" 45DL 3/8" LP 050 by Hicello because the replacement they plan to send will take just as long as the saw, which felt like 1-2 weeks. I've learned chains are pretty interchangeable as long as it has the same specs, you just have to pick half chisel ( slower cut lasts longer) or full chisel ( sharper cut shorter life).

      These little buggers kick back as bad or worse as a bigger saw, so make sure the beginners are aware of that. I have one just like it, it feels like a toy compared to a full sized saw but is every bit as dangerous. I like it for carrying around on the atv, its tiny so it doesn't take up much space in the cargo box.

    Uncle Cy, I noticed you have an Echo Timberwolf bar and chain, in your shop. Do you have the CS-590? I have one, love it. 60cc output. Its a great, durable, well made saw. I use it for bigger girth trees. Comes in real handy. Its a bigger saw but just right to use everyday, if you had to. The Japanese have some great quality saws, not to bash China just wish they made their own design and not clones. Its fairly light at 12- 13 lbs. A pound less than a Sthil MS 311 too.

      BTW - the shipping on the two bars and chains is $20.22 shipped to TX, I assume in the same box the free shipping saw is in. One would be $8 something shipping. Still a lot cheaper than anywhere else, though.

    It shouldn't be all that difficult to throw the bolt in a vice and run either a small grinder/dremmel or a reciprocating saw to cut a flathead groove into it. So as you said, you'd only need one tool to take the cover off. I've seen several of these reviews on this saw, and I so far can't find an excuse to NOT buy one....

    The thing that prevents me from buying these saws is the very high shipping prices. I know this little saw includes shipping in the price but then if I add a bar and chain they want $23.00 to ship it. A big saw shipping is over $100.00. If they get the shipping prices down I think they would sell more or maybe it's only me that thinks it's too high.

      Bill Sheffield I agree with you

    • @DIYwithUncleCy
      @DIYwithUncleCy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      See here is where I get confused. I live dead center in the US (well close anyway) and the 12 inch bar and chain would cost me $15.03 with shipping to my door, Amazon says an Oregon bar and chain the same size is over $30. And stores around here don't have a bar that size with chain for less than $20. So I am completely confused as to the basis of your complaint unless you live somewhere outside the US and shipping to your country is taxed even worse than it is here.

    • @DIYwithUncleCy
      @DIYwithUncleCy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bill I just went to thier site and got shipping estimates for every country they ship to that bar and chain combo ships for $8.27 US any where they ship.

      @@DIYwithUncleCy
      I live in Brisbane, Australia and Fredericksburg , Va and I ship to where I am at that time. I ordered a kitsaw (200t) along with a few parts for other saws that all fit into the kit saw box and shipping to VA was $121.85 . Now that saw alone would weigh about the same as the small Johnsaw they sent to you for free. They quote the shipping for the kit saw to be $50.00 , and weight to be 4.5 kg the weight of the saw plus extra parts I ordered were 8.6kg. so let's just say it's twice the weight of the kitsaw alone which would be $100.00 and I paid $121.85 to me that just dosent all add up. Now these little Johnsaws are under $100.00 including shipping which again to me does not all add up, subtract $50.00 for shipping and that would mean The saw alone is slightly under $50.00. The 066 kit saw it says is 9.5 kg, and to US it says it's $86.00 which is about the same weight as the 200t plus parts I bought again it does not all add up to me unless thete are customs fees that are not disclosed I don't get it.
      It seems to me they are making money on the shipping also. Stuff to Australia does include extra costs they charge here so not comparing it to US.
