Filter looked amazing! Speaking of cleaning I’ve been going through some stuff at the house and selling stuff I don’t need lol. Another great video cleveland!
Thanks Colin! I appreciate it! And there’s nothing wrong with doing some spring cleaning and getting some money for it! 🫡 out with the old, in with the new.
It’s been close to a year since I cleaned out my FX6, I should probably at least open it up and see how it looks on the inside. One thing I did was to take out the polishing pads out of both FX6’s I have on my Peacock/Hap tank, went from cleaning every three months to not touching them for almost a year now👍
I’d say after a year it may be time. What do you use instead of polishing pads? All media in the middle? I’ve gone a year without cleaning my canisters before and they weren’t that bad. When you properly stock your tank, feed the fish and do scheduled water changes, the filters don’t get too bad.
Fish corner get you a huge sump or build you one and load it down with lava rocks have it in your sump where water passes over it and I promise you your nitrate level will be undetectable I have a 260 and 150 with no nitrate haven't did a water change in over 6 months
have you or anyone done any tests to see if alternate media inserts instead of factory has any adverse effects on the motors and impellars due to the need to force more harder water through the medias? this goes for hang on back too, i'd like to dabble in alternate medias, but not sure if it would add a strain of some type to the motor
Honestly bruh, it’s a great filter but it’s a love hate relationship with it. When everything is going smooth, it’s a great filter. When the motor goes out or any other simple part fails, I can’t stand it. lol if you can catch a sale, it will definitely be worth it at a discounted price.
I always wonder why other people care about why someone leaves the plastic on their fx6. Just do you. Who cares about the plastic. Worried about small shit. What you need to worry about is how it performs.
You can test that yourself on your own aquarium. My numbers wouldn’t be the same as yours based on my tank size, fish bio load, filtration and cleaning schedule.
Cleveland sweet video on the fundamentals of fish keeping. Our ABC’s & 123. 🎉
Thanks Rick! 🫡

I have a bunch of sumps that I built brother. I actually prefer built sumps over bought. Especially over canister filters and HOB filters.
Tropical haven in Modesto got some big plecos
Thank you, I’ll check them out the next time I’m out there.
I was going to ask where you got those red sponges. Then you explained haha I like the red look
lol. I definitely, like the look as well.

Nope, never done a test on that. If you do, come back and let us know how it goes.

I always wonder why people leave the plastic wrap around the Fx6..

That filter didn't look bad at all.
I agree. I honestly thought it was going to be terrible!
First lol

Hello could you please do a nirtate test just to see how much nitrate is removed so some of us would have an idea

Common plecos are horrible not worth the problems the eat the slime coat off your fish Ive lost 4 fish due to huge common plecos
I agree, and they look so ugly. lol
