Common people don't see any changes. Per capita income of the country is very very low many many unemployed youth like me have emerged. The government is only politisizing i should say
So why is it significant that India is the world's fifth largest economy? It is important because of the power that comes with that status. 1) No country interfered when India abolished article 370 in Kashmir. There have been no major terrorist attacks since then. 2) India has also decimated terrorist camps inside POK which were allowed to run freely by the previous government. The west and Pakistan watched on but were helpless as no one wants to mess with India. 3) India could buy cheap oil from Russia, again without any repercussions from the west. 4) India can turn offf water to Pakistan without fearing any backlash. The UN report on poverty in India states that 450 million people have been lifted out of poverty in the last 10 years. This was mainly possible because India could focus its efforts on fighting poverty instead of fighting wars and terrorism. This is the importance of power.

Are you talking about Indus water treaty?
When one compares the last ten years to the sixty before, it would be foolish to let the losers in again.
