Indeed, Ecuador is dirt cheap in regards to food, obviously without counting expensive restaurants, and the price for the apartment is spot on considering that's inside a residency building, u can rent apartments/houses for around $300 a month, so the price can actually go less than $1000 if u want. And for the record, Cuenca is not that dangerous compared to other cities like Guayaquil for example, so it's safe to say that overall it's more pacific, and as pointed out in the video, ppl over there like to hang out and party, drunk ppl can be an issue depending on where u at in Cuenca. You can even live in sweden in apartments and rowhouses in small places outside small towns. For 300-500 dollars for rent and usaly incl warm water, radiator heat, sometimes internet and tv are incl and if not 25-50 dollars if you must pay for it, usaly only electricity that you pay for and thats usaly 30-60 dollars. Food is about 400-500 dollars a month. Sizes on apartments are from 30-90 square meters/90-270 square feet
From my younger travels to Quito Ecuador where my parents are from I knew that is the place I wanted to make a part of my life. My travel is close at hand as soon as Covid-19 dies down and things get relaxed a little more. Ecuador has everything to offer everyone’s idea of a getaway. I will be searching for you expats to show me the cheap eats. My treat. I can afford to spend $10 on food and drinks for all of us 😀

Great video! Thanks for sharing. Just wondering if your guest in the video is planning to continue traveling now that she's settled in Cuenca (post Covid)? Can you comment on how easy it is or how often expats travel from Cuenca, domestically and internationally to Europe/Asia? (Thinking of costs, connecting flights) Than you!
As you can guess travel currently is a little tricky with each country having their own requirements. This said, she actually is scheduled to visit Egypt in a few months with some friends she’s made in Cuenca. You can look up flights from Ecuador on Skyscanner.com Guayaquil and Quito are the two international airports here, with Guayaquil the closer of the two. Cuenca has regional airport for a short flight to Guayaquil or Quito if needed.
She actually left her apartment to travel and returns to Cuenca regularly for 90 days at a time. She was recently volunteering teaching English in Cuenca at a school. We are working on doing an update with her in the near future.
Fantastic video! Did I hear "pickleball"? My wife and I will be in Cuenca in late August and will be sure to bring our paddles along! How do we get in touch with Kay for a quick pickleball game? ;-)
@@WarrenJulieTravel how much does she invest?? 1,000 usd per month perhaps that goes to cover basic needs to survive.... Or does she actually invest Serious money in my country and create jobs and wealth for Ecuador. We ecuadorians are not all naive or ignorant.... Most retirees come here to live cheap and give the country nothing in return. The investment is a joke.....
@@maryoriezambrano7690 you are obviously uneducated on economics. There are about 10,000 Expats in Azuay with most concentrated in Cuenca spending $250,000,000 a year to landlords, taxis, restaurants, Mercados, Tiendas, Entertainment, veterinarians etc which provides jobs and income to Ecuadorians. This in new money brought into Azuay added to sustain the economy of Cuenca and its people. Nobody is here taking anything for free, expats come and contribute economically and many donate to charity and volunteer. I’m not sure where your negativity comes from, most Ecuadorians that make comments are very positive and encouraging, understanding expats and tourism means jobs.

So where do you live now?
@@williamkunte5361 Cuenca
Kay is a great example of a great Expat and Friend
We think so also. ♥️
This place is SO beautiful!
Thanks 😊
We're moving to Cuenca in about a year & I was wondering about recreational activities, like tennis, gyms, mountain biking shops etc.
Yes to all, you’ll enjoy the outdoor recreational activities there.
It's very hard for an American to live in Sweden for more than 90 days unfortunately.
@@WarrenJulieTravel its the same all over the world, was just speaking about prices and where
From my younger travels to Quito Ecuador where my parents are from I knew that is the place I wanted to make a part of my life. My travel is close at hand as soon as Covid-19 dies down and things get relaxed a little more. Ecuador has everything to offer everyone’s idea of a getaway. I will be searching for you expats to show me the cheap eats. My treat. I can afford to spend $10 on food and drinks for all of us 😀
Thanks for watching 😁😁
Good video, thanks for the info., just found you and subscribed, currently working in China.
Welcome aboard!
Wow, she really got herself a great apartment!! Tell her to buy a hummingbird feeder with a bee guard. She should really take down the one she's got. A bee sting could kill a hummingbird and I know that she doesn't want that.
Thanks for posting this!
Happy trails!
Thanks 😊
Excellent video ! Thank you!😎
Glad you liked it!
That was a very interesting and informative video. I will be visiting the end of January and we'll explore around that area. Where did you say you play disc golf? I'm going to bring a couple discs with me. Thank you!
They play in Parque Paradiso.
Great, thanks!
Today is the first time seeing your vlog. Very informational, thanks. Are there more apartments similar to hers within that price range?
Yes, keep an eye on gringopost.com real estate section.
Lovely video, ALL YOU NEED IS ECUADOR!!!
Ecuador is a nice place.
Awesome apartment and budget!! I wonder how Kay is doing and if she is still there.
How do we get in touch with Kay for a quick pickleball game? ;-)

@@WarrenJulieTravel OK, I joined your FaceBook group but am not sure how to contact Kay...
@@dvancamp6710 I’ll connect you, make a comment about Pickleball to the group and I’ll ask her to respond.
Great, informative video.
Glad it was helpful!
What type of visa does Kay have? Lovely apartment! That outdoor space is awesome.
I believe she is on the investors visa. We have a video on the types of residency visas, just in case you haven’t seen it. 😁
@@maryoriezambrano7690 the focus of the video is the cost of living in Cuenca not her investment portfolio, regardles passive aggressive comments only harm the image perceived by outsiers.
Maybe keep that in mind If you really are worried about FDI.
@@maryoriezambrano7690 The retirees didn’t set up the requirements. Your government did. I’m sure they did what they thought would be beneficial to the local economy. If not, they are free to change their requirements at any time.
Thank you for video.
Thanks 😊

Very nice place!
It must be nice. Unfortunately, Ecuador is not an option for us. I’ve seen videos about this country and I like what I see. Nice video
Sorry to hear that
