"Born to Try" is a song by Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem, written by Goodrem and Audius Mtawarira and produced by Ric Wake for Goodrem's debut studio album, Innocent Eyes (2003). The song was released as the first single off the studio album on 11 November 2002 by Epic Records. It was later featured on her first Japanese compilation album Innocent Eyes (2006). The song was co-written by her while she was staying at her home in Sydney, Australia for the production of the studio album, as well as written and producing four other songs together. Though many of the public consider this as Goodrem's breakthrough single, it is not her debut single.
As the song features instrumentation with a piano, guitars (acoustic and electric) and drums, the song is a low tempo pop song, with influences of piano pop and pop rock. Lyrically, it talks about taking chances and leading your independence. The song was universally praised from music critics, praising Goodrem's vocal abilities and lyrical content. The song is considered as Goodrem's signature song, as the song managed to enter charts around the world, including two number ones in her native Australia and New Zealand. The song also peaked at number three in the United Kingdom, her first single to chart outside the Oceania. It also charted in many European countries including Ireland, Switzerland and Germany.
An accompanying music video was shot for the single, which featured Goodrem near a lake, then sees her in a more country-side place and also featured in Helsinki where its effects was presented with timelapse effects. The music video was featured on her video compilation Delta and was performed at both her commercially successful tours; Visualise Australian Tour and Believe Again Australian Tour.

I love this song, she wrote this and it was tided into an Australian tv show she was on at the time called neighbours. Her character was very shy and found it difficult to fit in at school, nobody knew she had a hidden talent and it boosted the characters confidence x

Didgeridoo. The official instrument of our indigenous people in Australia. Respect it 😂

Yes, we love our Delta. She was only 16 when she started her career and had to battle breast cancer not long after that. These days we mostly see her on The Voice but she still releases songs. She's like a fine wine and only gets better with age. She's incredible & a well respected artist.

That is a Didgeridoo. Requires the mastering of a technique called "circular breathing". Basically you have to breathe into the instrument out of your mouth while at the same time breathe in through the nose. I have tried this. It is very difficult. I got to see Delta Goodrem live once. Just her and a piano for a small group of people. She is legit talented. And won our small crew over with her genuinely nice personality.

Delta is beautiful and talented. She played Olivia in a bio pic on Lifetime here. She's Australian and states Olivia as her mentor, hero, and her biggest fans! The instrument is a traditional instrument that the native people of Australia use.

Love seeing people react to Delta! Actually super cool that you have a Grease poster behind you - Delta played Sandy in a little remake of the movie, and has an album of covers of Olivia Newton Johns' top hits!

I do remember Delta saying somewhere that she's inspired by Mariah Carey. I also can hear that in her song "safe to believe"

Delta originally released this song when she was 16 in 2002. After recovering from Cancer in 2004, she and Darren Hayes sang "Lost Without You" together. You can listen to the live version on TH-cam. They sound so perfect together, two of my favourite artists. BTW, Delta is also a huge fan of ONJ. Strangely, Olivia, Kylie and Delta all cancer survivors.

She has a beautiful voice. She looks a lot like Vanessa Williams at certain angles.

God Americans who have to equate every artist with an American - geez there is a world out there of artists nurtured by their own soil. Not Vegas sand.
