i remember a classmate of mine who was a jehovah's witness. she wasn't really the social type, so one day our teacher told us the next day would have been her birthday and we all organized a surprise party for her. we brought cake, some gifts, decorations and games. the next day her mom brought her to class and we all jumped out to surprise her. her mom got furious and brought her back home, and we later discovered JW aren't even allowed to celebrate birthdays. we never saw her again, apparently her mom decided to homeschool her since and didn't even let her out of the house because she thought the party was her daughter idea and never believed us when we told her it wasn't her daughter fault and she didn't even believe our teacher about it. to this day i have no idea where she ended up but i hope she got out of that shitty cult, poor kid was miserable.
I had a JW friend in middle school too, I never understood why she never celebrated her birthday or any other holidays. She ended up being homeschooled halfway through 8th grade year, and all her social media was gone. Even 10+ years later, I haven't been able to find anything searching her name up. I hope she's okay.
Jeez, having a Jehova’s Witness friend at school back in the day must be a lot more common than I thought. I knew a girl from grade 6 or 7 onwards, she was in my class towards the end of primary school, and 1 or t 2 of my classes in my last 2 years of high school. Her and I weren’t friends but she was friends with multiple people in my group so we knew each other pretty well, even talked in class sometimes because of how long we’d known each other. She was definitely different to us all in some ways though, her and her brother were, innocent in a way, obviously sheltered to an extreme and unhealthy degree. Never permitted to be fully exposed to life’s brutality so as to be properly aware of it and therefore genuinely capable of recognising and combatting it. They were utterly clueless in ways almost nobody else would be, that’s the nature of indoctrination, to become indoctrinated is to become a willing fool, to purposely use your brain less, to become willingly disabled. The tragic thing about it though, is that children cannot make such choices, evil or stupid adults, or evil AND stupid adults, have to make it for them, and those adults are often their scumbag parents. I haven’t seen that girl since shortly after high school, what happened to her is anybody’s guess, it’s no surprise she doesn’t have a FaceBook or Instagram account so finding out what became of her is extremely difficult if even possible.
@@arthurfleck629 oh they're quite "common" to see here in italy, they are always hanging out in public squares trying to handle their fliers and books to everyone during the morning and i walk next to their "kingdom hall" (or whatever it is called, the place where they gather) almost every day in my town

And I kid you not, they all LAUGHED at the same time; it was so creepy.

Thank you for covering the LDS church the way you did! I’m a Mormon and I’d say you did a mighty fine job! Thank you very much! I’ve never seen such an unbiased rundown!
As a practicing Mormon, you did a very good job of explaining the religion. It's so nice to finally see someone completely unaffiliated with the Church take the most objective approach when explaining it. That criticism you've mentioned towards the end of that segment is very real, and I've considered deleting Instagram over and over again because of how much contempt towards my religion I see there.
I grew up incredibly Catholic. I thought of myself as a very devout Catholic until I was about 17. That was the best summary of Catholicism I’ve ever seen. Exactly as how it was told to me through the catechism. I appreciate the depth you’ve already gone into and I can’t wait to listen to all the other religions you cover and cults.
