This lifestyle is something that was on the cards for years as I prefer to work for agencies and I can work when I want, where I want, and just tick on by without a care in the world 😂. Doing this is on my mind daily and has been for years. I love these old military vehicles, but recently enquired about price's on a website which specialises in old military vehicles, way out of my budger. Started looking at 7.5 ton trucks, but massive mileage even for a 2019. Trying to find the time to do it, space to work on it is not easy, especially in west Scotland with the rain. This build is one of my favourites so far, love the fact you fabricated your own box and double glazing. Would like a closer look at this one. It feels like a burning desire to do this.
Great lifestyle until the government starts with ULEZ, pay per mile and 15 minute cities, with penalties for driving through the wrong "zones". This is why we need to push back against these things.

Very cool, u.k isnt really big enough or made for it compared to say a country like Canada, everyone out there does it and they have lots of land for it u.k is way to overcrowded isnt it. Where do you put your addresses for your licenses and dentist, truck etc?
Serious question…how can the services you need, road maintenance, places to fill up with water, empty sewage, shop for food etc, be available without council tax. Whilst I understand you not paying that given you don’t live in a council area, maybe some kind of traveller tax could help support and sustain the lifestyle you love. Could also help with provision of places to park up. Don’t mean to cause an argument here but just a thought. Before it’s suggested, road tax just doesn’t cover that kind of stuff.
@ yes I understand that but none of these fund the more local services I mentioned….they are all provided by individual councils using a combination of national,taxation and local council tax..just to be clear I’m very supportive of the lifestyle, just acknowledging that all these things cost money.
Too many taxes already, NI, VAT, Capital Gains, Council tax, fuel tax, sugar tax, alcohol tax, inheritance tax, road tax, employers pay tax to employ us - which technically is us paying tax, etc. Do you really want to introduce a traveler tax now? Maybe the government should learn how to spend money in a way that doesn't always leave them broke. If you want people in mobile homes to pay council tax you've got to offer them a service, for instance council parking spots that you can reserve, which can be used as a home address and easy garbage disposal/collection. If you choose to reserve a spot, you have to pay a fee every month to the council. But just being in a vehicle and passing by a random town to buy donuts isn't enough to warrant more taxation. Council tax is based on the value of your property and if you don't own property in that area, you have no stake in that council anyway. How is a travelers tax going to work anyway? You get taxed every council you pass by? Lmao.

So why is it a problem now? There will always be people who rent/own homes in your council so it's not like this is a net negative. Your council isn't losing anything.
