Why us no one talking about how Hollyleaf was portrayed in that little 'play' of Ashfurs? Even though her appearance was brief the fact that she turned into black fire that swallowed Ashfur is so interesting to see. Almost treating her as an uncontrollable force of nature that took his life rather than just another cat.
I like to imagine the dark forest cats looking over a script for Ashfur's "Tragic Saga," and just going, "Meh. What the heck, not like we've got anything better to do but act out your bitter breakup."😅
I love the tiny detail of squilf's white paw. In ashfur's perception, it's a simple heart glove, playing into his view of her as the helpless damsel in distress. Then the real one has a lace glove because, like the glove, she's much more complicated than what ashfur sees her as.
@@PixylMawthz I also love how squilf doesn't have pupils until the end, shes viewed as ashfurs plaything until she finally stands up for herself and defends brambleclaw in the end!
I love that not only are her 'feminine' appearances more exaggerated in his version of the story. But her actions all flirtatious, the way her tail curls under his jaw in particular like a come hither. What were innocent conversations to her, were a come on to him in his mind. As well as the fact that her eyes are 'empty'. Further reinforcing the doll like feel he has of her and suits Ashfur's absolute insanity that Squirrel was his and should have stayed his. Right down to the use of puppet strings in regards to starclan. Squirrel was never an independent thinking individual to him, merely a toy in his fantasy family set up. And all that stood in his way was the dark forest demon Bramble.
I like to imagine Ashfur just hired the dark forest cats who looked the most like Bramble and Squirrel for this. Looking through the crowds for the best look a like.
I think one of my favorite details is the design differences between the real Squirrelflight and Ashfur's ideal of her. He seems to exaggerate her proportions with the fluffy tail and neck, and she overall has a much more dainty and naive appearance. I like to think he's using this as an excuse for why she fell into Brambleclaw's "evil" clutches, because why would she ever NOT fall for Ashfur unless she was manipulated? 👀
It’s true Ashfur had a right to be mad. He technically was strung along but he took it way too FAR. I think he should’ve asked Firestar to take a temporary leave from the clan and take a medicine cat to talk to Star clan to help with his pain.
That was phenomenal. The visual storytelling of Ashfur’s deluded perception of reality is amazing to behold. It’s also interesting how the animation of Ashfur’s imagined Bramblestar reveals his opinions on him. Despite telling Squirrelflight that he didn’t hold a grudge against Bramblestar, in his mind, Bramblestar is an exact copy of Tigerstar. The elongated fangs, the hulking physique, the large claws? He stills sees Bramblestar as the extension of the cat who stole his mother from him, only now he has lost Squirrelflight as well. He wants to view himself as the hero of the story, saving Squirrelflight from the cat he knew would hurt her all along.
One thing I noticed is that Ashfur sees StarClan as ‘pulling the strings’ and ‘taking Squilf away from him.’ From the few glimpses we see inside his mind, we see he thinks of StarClan as fools for not suspecting him, so him seeing StarClan as a force that pulls the cats in and out of life adding to his bitterness even though they’re ‘monsters’ is a nice touch!
I think the way Squirrelflight and Bramblestar's relationship is portrayed here is very interesting because it's not being portrayed as abusive because Ashfur has seen/heard Bramblestar being abusive to Squirrelflight and wants to expose Bramblestar for being an abuser. He's portraying it as abusive because he feels like Bramblestar took his love away from him and, therefore, decides to vilify Bramblestar. It wouldn't matter what Bramblestar and Squirrelflight's relationship was like; Ashfur would make it seem abusive in his retelling either way to make himself look like Squirrelflight's hero
Like when teachers says how your work but you got the answer right and the work wrong? Yeah, that's Ashfur. BrambleStar was abusive, but Ashfur's jealousy clouded his judgement and made him see things black-and-white, as Bramble wasn't really abusive until his leadership reign. A lovely portrayal of his skewed perception.
exactly! you said it perfectly. no matter how people perceive bramble n squirrel's relationship, the point in this map was to show how skewed and how biased ashfur is, and how in his mindset bramble is the villain who took his mate away.
Man Ashfur has the audacity to not only use “surrounded by fire effect” during his little play But to show Hollyleaf as black FIRE to resemble him dying at 4:12 Even though he was gonna burn her and her sibblings alive. God this map has some neat details I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do
I like that not only is imaginary Squilf's design symbolic of how Ashfur views her, it's also a good technical decision, since that meant most animators got to use her simple and easy to animate design and only 2 of the animators had to do her complicated design

Hell yea!! There's so many people from all over the world who animate warriors, and I really hope we get to see more from all of them at some point! Also yess definitely keep an eye out for what everyone here will do, they're all amazing artists!
Holy shit. Okay, where to start? The visual storytelling here was incredible. I could tell exactly what was going on in each part and who each of the cats were without struggle. Each had a very distinctive design that was easy to follow throughout viewing. I love how the story is presented - with Bramble as a fox-like being, then as a full-on monster as Ashfur's recount gains in intensity. The inclusion of Ashfur himself as this monster at the end when he takes over Bramble's body was a very nice touch. The portrayal of Hollyleaf as a shadow and then as black fire surrounding Ashfur was also fantastic. He views her as this manevolent force for killing him and separating him from Squilf, and the visual depiction of that was brilliant. I also love how Squilf has no pupils. Ashfur likes the idea of her love rather than her as a person, and her lack of pupils here helps to present her, through his eyes, as merely an asset to be obtained rather than as a person in her own right. Then, at the end, when she leaps in front of him to stand up for herself, she's shown with pupils and we get a closeup shot of her eyes - like he's just registering that she's not just a pretty accessory to have, but an entire person with a soul and decisions, and that she's here to stand in his way. The visual storytelling in this MAP is genuinely incredible, and it's definitely helped by the amazing animation, too. I also think the way that Bramble was presented here was brilliant. I don't like Bramble and Squilf's relationship in the books - I don't think he treats her well at all. This, however, is irrelevent for this MAP. Ashfur will show Bramble to be this abusive monster whether he is or not in order to make himself look like the good guy. I love how this is depicted. We don't know what Bramble and Squilf's relationship within the universe of this MAP is like, but that doesn't matter because Ash will depict it as terrible anyway.

This turned out absolutely amazing! It’s so dramatic and cinematic, and just so much fun. Ashfur is getting to tell his full side of the story while the other characters are there to remind us how he twists everything in his favor and it’s genius!

The way ash portrays the cats is so cool!how bramble looks more like tiger star,more evil,and not a loving to squirrel as he is,how holly is very strong looking and how squirrel looks more dainty and beautiful with a morw “heart”shape
This might sound dramatic, but this map feels like the epitome of what art should be. It’s use of visual storytelling is stunning. It’s made in a way that the general idea of the story(granted a little context about warrior cats is needed) is easily grasped, no matter if the viewer understand the language or not. It shares with viewers a different culture they might not have known of, through the use of its creative works,(the music) the visuals and animation themselves are gorgeous. I love how the color palette makes everything look so coordinated, while still having the characters still clearly look like their own thing. And each part has so much emotion and personality put into the animation. It’s a project that pays tribute to something each artist holds dear, the warrior cats series itself. And lastly, it’s abundantly clear just how much love and passion was put into the map, by every artist participating. This is also a smaller point, but I love how much the tone shifts in the final chorus. The map starts out as a drama, a play, but once ashfur is done with his story, all of a sudden everything takes a more sinister turn, once ashfur stops being the storyteller and becomes a threat. And the tone change was so effortless! Nothing dramatic had to change to achieve this, just simply ashfur adapting a more malicious body language.

This might be one of the rare maps that have subtitles in different languages to make sure its being able to be watched by a wide range of fans, my mother doesnt understand english very well so the addition made the experience for her way more understandable and therefore more enjoyable! Top tier map!!!

I think the fandom as a whole is starting to push for more subtitles and reaching out to translators (people linked in the desc here are all open for doing this for other MAPs!), so hopefully a lot of upcoming MAPs and even older ones would get these resources added!
I love how, in Ashfur's retelling, he attributes all of his actions to someone else. He says that Brambleclaw tried to hurt Squirrelflight surrounded by fire, but Ashfur was the one who did that. He says that Bramblestar threw Squirrelflight off the cliff, but it was Ashfur who did that. He says some mysterious, watery creature dragged Squirrelflight into the Moonpool, but it was Ashfur who did that. It shows just how unreliable Ashfur's perspective is.
It's really funny because the moonpool moment was a reference to Squilfs hope, where she chooses to go back. It was going to be him removing her agency by claiming that OF COURSE bramble dragged her there through manipulation somehow. But I really love this interpretation omg
@@PixylMawthz Oh, I must have misinterpreted that part of the animation. I've read Squirrelflight's Hope, but I honestly don't remember it all that well, and I saw Squirrelflight get dragged through into the Moonpool and just thought of Ashfur dragging her into the Dark Forest. Perhaps I'll just interpret this as a double meaning on Ashfur's part? His perspective is very warped already, what's a little more warping?

All intepretations are super valid, and it is really a fun coincidence that ashfur ended up being the one to drag her through the pool! you are right that he does blame his own actions on bramble :3
They had to go through a LOT of dress rehearsals because Mapleshade was put in charge of props and kept “accidentally” dropping Squilf’s lookalike during the string part.
I hope this MAP gets popular, it deserves it for the hardworking animators and everyone else involved! I've been looking at the MAP call since it came out for years!

OH MY! I’ve got tons and tons to say about this MAP, but first and foremost, YOU ALL DID A BRILLIANT JOB!!!!! I’m a Pakistani so I understood the language well, and let me tell you, I’m a HUGE fan of Bollywood’s incredible movies! I was along with many others watching in the premiere and while watching I was just so wide eyed and my jaw kept dropping. THE SUBTITLES WERE GENIUS! The animators did SUCH a good job with the dramatic effect of Ashfur’s storytelling! Let me tell you, the story was so well played out that oh my god, left me speechless. All of the parts blended so well with each other and it was so thrilling to see them tell us the story of Ashfur, showing how his love for Squirrelflight was left in shambles as the evil Bramblestar, (well, in his eyes) stole his princess from her! ALSO THAT APPEARANCE OF HOLLYLEAF?? THE WAY EVERYTHING DARKENED WAS JUST- WOW! I’m definitely going to watch Blood and Tears after this, ALSO THE CONSTANT SPOTLIGHT WAS JUST BRILLIANTT!!!!! I keep using this word, oh my. THE WAY SQUILF ASCENDED AND THE FIRE APPEARED WAS INCREDIBLE. AND THE ENDING WAS CARRIED OUT BRILLIANTLY AS THE ACTUAL SQUIRRELFLIGHT APPEARED! I’m so proud of you all, creating a SPECTACULAR map! BRAVO!!! BRAVO

Ashfur bollywood actor is real!! Now for real, thanks to this I have a new obsession with a song, I just cant stop singing it. I was so excited for this map to come and the only thing I can say is that I love it so much!!! As well as love the character design!!
IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS!! ive seen so many map parts that intrigued me so much, i used to kin pre-fire ashfur because of depression and personality but this actually made me realize how he was always toxic and legit viewed squirrel as an object, squirrel needs justice with all of these toxic and abusive mates and situations like why wont the erins give her a break 😭 Anywayz, YES, ASHFUR IS A BIG BABY!!! i cant wait for this, all the animators who've participated are so talented
I've notice in this map Squirrelflight body structure in Ashfur's portrayal is incredibly different from the real Squirrelflight. Notice the big heart mane, tail, paw and ears Ashfur loves her so much and only thinks of her of a damsel which would explain her expression throughout the entire map. By the end however, it showed the real Squirrelflight short structure, lace white paw, no hearts in her mane, ears or tail. It's a neat detail showing how delusional Ashfur really is. He thinks of her as a damsel but in reality Squirrelflight much more than some damsel, proven to be independent and strong willed cat. Also I love how they portrayed Ashfur's view of Bramblestar, kinda shows he really can't take rejection very well. Man's got rejection issues. Gonna add how much I love the map
i loooove me some delusional ashfur maps!!! this turned out so beautiful and i loved just taking in every second of it- props to all the wonderful animators who poured their hearts into their animations!
WOO I only discovered this map a month or so ago and it definitely turned out phenomenal!! I especially love the design element of Bramble being different from Ashfur's description-- pointy, longer fangs, mainly consisting of triangles, the evil yet soulless stare, versus him just being a frightened man by his wife's ex trying to steal his identity the idea of Bollywood and warriors and dramatic movements was portrayed so well by the animators and fit the intensity of the song very well! I hope it gets more recognition than it has right now, its genuinely really well done!!!!
Finally got a chance to watch this with all my focus and boy do you not disappoint! Everything from concept to designs to the execution of each part is stellar, and I absolutely love how well Ashfur's dramatic delusions match up with the tone of a dramatic bollywood song. As everyone has been saying, the visual storytelling through the exaggerated and pupil-less Squirrel and Bramble are phenomenal but even outside that I love how well Ashfur's point of view and assumptions are communicated through the MAP. It is obvious you put a massive amount of work into this and you should 100% be proud of all that you accomplished!!

This whole story hits different after reading more recent Warrior Cats books like Alderheart's story with the way Bramblestar treats his family & clan, especially Squirrelflight.
The concept of this MAP was so cool, and I was extremely happy to see a popular MAP of a song from one of my grandparents' favourite movies. Thank you so much for making this MAP happen!
Pakistani here- I know nothing about warrior cats but this is absolutely Fantastic!!! The actor designs compared to the real designs, the choreography of how they move is So Good, this made me incredibly happy to see desi music being used like this :D Also, drawing cats is really hard! Everyone did an amazing job here
Damn this was an amazing map but my favourite part was when Squilf stopped Ashfur from killing Bramble like she was a whole boss at the end and I loved it so much ❤ also like how her white paw changed too showing that she isn’t a damsel in distress at all and she definitely can handle herself
as an indian warrior cats fan, i adore this map. but even more, as a bramblestar fan i LOVE the way you portrayed him in this. the point was to not make that bramble abusive v. non abusive claims, it was to show how biased and how disgusting ashfur was and how he rotted inside his own brain. his view of bramblestar was clouded in his anger because he blamed bramblestar for stealing squirrelflight away, so to ashfur, no matter what happens or what apologies or mending of relationship happens between squirrelfligh and bramblestar, he is still the problem at the end of the day. ashfur in his deluded mindset cannot fathom squirrelflight being happy with anyone but him, so he decided that he has to save her from the monster that is bramblestar. I LOVE THIS DUDE, बिल्कुल सही ढंग से बनाया गया!!!
GOD THIS WAS SO AMAZING- the movements, the designs, the lipsyncing. Everything was so good I don't even have words. If I could I'd go over every part and point out what I love but that would genuinely be every part- everyone did an AMAZING job.
I keep coming back to watch this map even months later and I just admire the storytelling so much. The song fits so well and the way everything is conveyed is like I'm watching a movie 😭 all the animators were capable of expressing the emotion, which really pulled everything together too. I also like how its from Ashfur's prespective of things, rather than just retelling the story exactly to the books, which I really admire the creative freedom in how it was told. It really is inspiring, and reminds me why animation is one of the coolest things to me. Super awesome work!!
DUDE!!! You’ve been talking about this since we first met and it’s SO DAMN COOL to see it come to fruition!!! Like MAN the effort is so clear in how much time and thought you put into the direction!!! There’s SO MANY good details, but specifically wanna mention the stylized versions of Squilf and Bramble, Squilf’s design in general with her poofy tail and lace white paw, and my GOD the bits where Ashfur and Squilf ascend via ropes!! Like DAMN that was so fun and the bollywood theatrics influence is DELIGHTFUL. I ADORED the end credits too, SUCH a fun way to tie in the theatrics! Kudos to everyone, seriously!!! Y’all knocked it out of the park!!

Many people have said this already but I just really like the contrast of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight in Ashfur’s eyes compared to how they actually look. Really goes to show how Ashie thinks about Squirrelf in this map as some sort of defenseless dame when she’s actually the complete opposite and Brambleclaw as this empowering brute
OMG YES more broken code stuff! I loved the parts of the books that dealt with the Dark Forest, and how Ashfur had managed to take over Bramblestar. It read like a horror novel. I'm glad to see more and more animations on the broken code, and this was phenomenal. Best parts were seeing Ashfur shed Bramblestar's skin so to speak, and Squilf LEAPING in to save Bramble from Ashfur. GOD I love Squirrelflight.

All the animators did amazing! I didn’t grow up listening to this music all the time, but I would listen with my “cousins” to music like this because they grew up with it, and it brings back a lot of nostalgia! I also adore this map and the aspect of it with Squilf and Ashfur! This MAP is going to go down in history! ALSO HERE’S A SMALL ANALYSIS PART I COULDN’T HELP MYSELF: I noticed in the MAP that we slowly get showed about how Bramble is the Villain In Ashfur’s eyes, how we were shown Bramble being very manipulative of Squirrelflight, but as the map progresses we get shown the actuality and how ashfur in the end turns into the antagonist/villain of the MAP. I really like the progression of events here and I think this MAP was scripted really well going with this music as well, and you generally did such a good job managing and hosting the MAP!
As other comments have said, Ashfur is villainizing Bramblestar to protect his own ego. Then is Ashfur accusing Bramble of killing the Squirrelflight who loved Ashfur (aka an idealized version of Squirrelflight)? This animatic was amazing! There are so many little details and layers that enhance the experience of watching this. I’d love to see more content like this ❤️

The animators did a very good job! The whole idea behind this map is shockingly-both new, and classic. The colour pallete in which Ashfur stands out so much and still blends in is gorgeus! Squierrflight doesn,t have pupils until the very end which makes her look like she's only an image Ashfur created of her, and not a real person. The same goes with his imagination of Brambleclaw. The red and black backgrounds really show what emotions were the characters going through. My favourite part is the 4:23 one, cuz of the smooth animation of the tail, showing how Ashfur felt full of himself, with disrecpect towards Brabmeclaw. AMAZING!
IT'S DONE!!! Another incredible warriors map for my Playlist!!! I literally adore this - the overall dark and moody color scheme really really suits the atmosphere of the map, not to mention the designs?? They are simple yet really appealing to look at and it's super easy to tell who is who! I also absolutely love Ashfur's depiction of Squirrelflight and Brambelclaw/star (at least I'm pretty sure it's him) compared to the actual Bramble Ashfur's speaking to and Squilf towards the end - such a great way of representing his delusional views! Plus the symbolism of the posession process is so bone chilling, like?? It's so good and it's obvious how genuinely disturbed Bramble is, I love it!!! Overall this is an incredible map! Keep up the amazing work everyone

Can I just say the way these maps characterize and display Ashfur is fantastic!! I loved this one in particular, for him to have this prescene of a narrator/villian is perfect.
The production quality on this is simply fantastic! The storyboarding is brilliant and all the artists did an amazing job. It is very cinematic in the way the scenes were drawn ("moving camera," following the characters.) Well done!!
The parts in this map are... AMAZING! All of it! The way the perspective changes is beautiful. I know it must've been hard for the artists to do all those angles so its just amazing how much they do it around this map.
Nah I gotta say it bro- Every single one of the animators in this project did absolutely amazing job. No matter the skill level. I noticed how some animators were focused the smooth animation,while the other focused on getting the character personality out and expressive. Both are wonderful and I respect that. But I do gotta say that puppeteering of Ashfur and SquirrelFlight in that one scene was crazy. Shoot that and when he through off the Bramblestar pelt… Bro let’s just say I was surprised. Bro then the ending!👏🏾 Yk what imma stop rambling. Y’all did a wonderful job and I hope to see this continue

BROOOOOOO THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY IMPRESIVEEE!!! The storytelling was something else, and the little details shown too!! How bramble was portrayed to squilfs paw, each detail and second was beautiful. Every participant did amazing!!!!!

This has to be one of the best MAPs I’ve seen in the last few years. The visual storytelling is phenomenal, the designs are top notch, and the music matches everything perfectly. This MAP deserves all the hype possible, it’s absolutely incredible!! (and the song is going DIRECTLY on my current jams playlist)

Omg this map is AWESOME! Every animator is so good at the animations and backgrounds!! My favorite part is when AshFur gets pulled up to starclan with squirrelFlight. This map gives me chills watching it, it’s like a movie. Thanks for making the map! :D

This was beyond incredible! So much life breathed into the characters, massive props to everyone involved, I know this project will consume my mind whole for a very good while
I have no idea how long I’ve been watching the parts come together for this and anticipated the final project, yet it somehow turned out SO MUCH BETTER THAN I EVER COULD HAVE IMAGINED!!!! I’m so grateful to all the animators who worked incredibly hard for this project to be completed and that the warriors community is continuing to include music from different parts of the world. This is definitely one of those projects I’ll be dragging my non-warriors-educated friends and family to see!

As someone who prefers watching Hindi movies more than English movies (though my language medium is English), I saw this as a hecking big win I've always wanted a hindi song to be featured in a WC MAP because most of the MAPs were in English and something wasn't too right about it and slowly stopped watching them after a while. my wish came true, only that IT TOOK ME 5 MONTHS TO NOTICE THIS 😭Like how hhytvybtvunxyxgbryegbeubgxnuerugbfrvb I really can't explain my joy!!!!! The characters, storyline, they're all so good. In case you don't know, the reason why I prefer Hindi movies if because of the action and drama in them. THIS. THIS is an EXCELLENT example of the drama. in EVERY. SINGLE. HINDI FILM I've watched (mostly all) Man oh man I thank you and all the animators for this. you've brought joy to a 13 year old 4 days after Christmas ❤

I fell out of the series not long after power of three so I wasn't entirely sure if id understand this story, but nope! Ashfur theatrics are universal and good lord did this nail it perfectly! The acting is insane and i was super excited to know not only does Ashfur comes back but that dramatic fucker possesses Bramble! This is stupidly god tier with the emotional impact, i might actually have to pick up the books again if it tells this even a tiny percentage of as well as you and these animatiors told it. Awesome job!

Why us no one talking about how Hollyleaf was portrayed in that little 'play' of Ashfurs? Even though her appearance was brief the fact that she turned into black fire that swallowed Ashfur is so interesting to see. Almost treating her as an uncontrollable force of nature that took his life rather than just another cat.

I love the tiny detail of squilf's white paw. In ashfur's perception, it's a simple heart glove, playing into his view of her as the helpless damsel in distress. Then the real one has a lace glove because, like the glove, she's much more complicated than what ashfur sees her as.

I love that not only are her 'feminine' appearances more exaggerated in his version of the story. But her actions all flirtatious, the way her tail curls under his jaw in particular like a come hither. What were innocent conversations to her, were a come on to him in his mind. As well as the fact that her eyes are 'empty'. Further reinforcing the doll like feel he has of her and suits Ashfur's absolute insanity that Squirrel was his and should have stayed his. Right down to the use of puppet strings in regards to starclan. Squirrel was never an independent thinking individual to him, merely a toy in his fantasy family set up. And all that stood in his way was the dark forest demon Bramble.
I like to imagine Ashfur just hired the dark forest cats who looked the most like Bramble and Squirrel for this. Looking through the crowds for the best look a like.
He rejected hawkfrost and tigerstar specifically to hire some random background cat to be Bramble, because the others were asking for fair pay

I think one of my favorite details is the design differences between the real Squirrelflight and Ashfur's ideal of her. He seems to exaggerate her proportions with the fluffy tail and neck, and she overall has a much more dainty and naive appearance. I like to think he's using this as an excuse for why she fell into Brambleclaw's "evil" clutches, because why would she ever NOT fall for Ashfur unless she was manipulated? 👀

It’s true Ashfur had a right to be mad. He technically was strung along but he took it way too FAR. I think he should’ve asked Firestar to take a temporary leave from the clan and take a medicine cat to talk to Star clan to help with his pain.
The last part with Squirrelflight blocking off Brambleclaw from Ashfur and his expression in her eyes..It's so good!

That was phenomenal. The visual storytelling of Ashfur’s deluded perception of reality is amazing to behold. It’s also interesting how the animation of Ashfur’s imagined Bramblestar reveals his opinions on him. Despite telling Squirrelflight that he didn’t hold a grudge against Bramblestar, in his mind, Bramblestar is an exact copy of Tigerstar. The elongated fangs, the hulking physique, the large claws? He stills sees Bramblestar as the extension of the cat who stole his mother from him, only now he has lost Squirrelflight as well. He wants to view himself as the hero of the story, saving Squirrelflight from the cat he knew would hurt her all along.
And an add on to the disighn where he's back fur looks like a shark fin!

Ashfur's anger should have been directed twords bramblestar from the start, it makes too much sense.
One thing I noticed is that Ashfur sees StarClan as ‘pulling the strings’ and ‘taking Squilf away from him.’ From the few glimpses we see inside his mind, we see he thinks of StarClan as fools for not suspecting him, so him seeing StarClan as a force that pulls the cats in and out of life adding to his bitterness even though they’re ‘monsters’ is a nice touch!

I think the way Squirrelflight and Bramblestar's relationship is portrayed here is very interesting because it's not being portrayed as abusive because Ashfur has seen/heard Bramblestar being abusive to Squirrelflight and wants to expose Bramblestar for being an abuser. He's portraying it as abusive because he feels like Bramblestar took his love away from him and, therefore, decides to vilify Bramblestar. It wouldn't matter what Bramblestar and Squirrelflight's relationship was like; Ashfur would make it seem abusive in his retelling either way to make himself look like Squirrelflight's hero

BrambleStar was abusive, but Ashfur's jealousy clouded his judgement and made him see things black-and-white, as Bramble wasn't really abusive until his leadership reign. I like that not only is imaginary Squilf's design symbolic of how Ashfur views her, it's also a good technical decision, since that meant most animators got to use her simple and easy to animate design and only 2 of the animators had to do her complicated design

Holy shit.
Okay, where to start?
The visual storytelling here was incredible. I could tell exactly what was going on in each part and who each of the cats were without struggle. Each had a very distinctive design that was easy to follow throughout viewing.
I love how the story is presented - with Bramble as a fox-like being, then as a full-on monster as Ashfur's recount gains in intensity. The inclusion of Ashfur himself as this monster at the end when he takes over Bramble's body was a very nice touch. The portrayal of Hollyleaf as a shadow and then as black fire surrounding Ashfur was also fantastic. He views her as this manevolent force for killing him and separating him from Squilf, and the visual depiction of that was brilliant.
I also love how Squilf has no pupils. Ashfur likes the idea of her love rather than her as a person, and her lack of pupils here helps to present her, through his eyes, as merely an asset to be obtained rather than as a person in her own right. Then, at the end, when she leaps in front of him to stand up for herself, she's shown with pupils and we get a closeup shot of her eyes - like he's just registering that she's not just a pretty accessory to have, but an entire person with a soul and decisions, and that she's here to stand in his way. The visual storytelling in this MAP is genuinely incredible, and it's definitely helped by the amazing animation, too.
I also think the way that Bramble was presented here was brilliant. I don't like Bramble and Squilf's relationship in the books - I don't think he treats her well at all. This, however, is irrelevent for this MAP. Ashfur will show Bramble to be this abusive monster whether he is or not in order to make himself look like the good guy. I love how this is depicted. We don't know what Bramble and Squilf's relationship within the universe of this MAP is like, but that doesn't matter because Ash will depict it as terrible anyway.

I love the detail of the perception of Bramblestars neck. It reminds me of a shark fin, playing in ‘shark in the water’!
The way ash portrays the cats is so cool!how bramble looks more like tiger star,more evil,and not a loving to squirrel as he is,how holly is very strong looking and how squirrel looks more dainty and beautiful with a morw “heart”shape
This might sound dramatic, but this map feels like the epitome of what art should be. It’s use of visual storytelling is stunning. It’s made in a way that the general idea of the story(granted a little context about warrior cats is needed) is easily grasped, no matter if the viewer understand the language or not. It shares with viewers a different culture they might not have known of, through the use of its creative works,(the music) the visuals and animation themselves are gorgeous. I love how the color palette makes everything look so coordinated, while still having the characters still clearly look like their own thing. And each part has so much emotion and personality put into the animation. It’s a project that pays tribute to something each artist holds dear, the warrior cats series itself. And lastly, it’s abundantly clear just how much love and passion was put into the map, by every artist participating.
This is also a smaller point, but I love how much the tone shifts in the final chorus. The map starts out as a drama, a play, but once ashfur is done with his story, all of a sudden everything takes a more sinister turn, once ashfur stops being the storyteller and becomes a threat. And the tone change was so effortless! Nothing dramatic had to change to achieve this, just simply ashfur adapting a more malicious body language.

I love how, in Ashfur's retelling, he attributes all of his actions to someone else. He says that Brambleclaw tried to hurt Squirrelflight surrounded by fire, but Ashfur was the one who did that. He says that Bramblestar threw Squirrelflight off the cliff, but it was Ashfur who did that. He says some mysterious, watery creature dragged Squirrelflight into the Moonpool, but it was Ashfur who did that. It shows just how unreliable Ashfur's perspective is.
It's really funny because the moonpool moment was a reference to Squilfs hope, where she chooses to go back. It was going to be him removing her agency by claiming that OF COURSE bramble dragged her there through manipulation somehow. But I really love this interpretation omg

I've read Squirrelflight's Hope, but I honestly don't remember it all that well, and I saw Squirrelflight get dragged through into the Moonpool and just thought of Ashfur dragging her into the Dark Forest. Perhaps I'll just interpret this as a double meaning on Ashfur's part? His perspective is very warped already, what's a little more warping?

They had to go through a LOT of dress rehearsals because Mapleshade was put in charge of props and kept “accidentally” dropping Squilf’s lookalike during the string part.
omg yes that's canon now. originally it was going to be maple dressed as squilf but that was scrapped, so she might be doing it out of envy!

OH MY! I’ve got tons and tons to say about this MAP, but first and foremost, YOU ALL DID A BRILLIANT JOB!!!!! I’m a Pakistani so I understood the language well, and let me tell you, I’m a HUGE fan of Bollywood’s incredible movies! I was along with many others watching in the premiere and while watching I was just so wide eyed and my jaw kept dropping. THE SUBTITLES WERE GENIUS! The animators did SUCH a good job with the dramatic effect of Ashfur’s storytelling! Let me tell you, the story was so well played out that oh my god, left me speechless. All of the parts blended so well with each other and it was so thrilling to see them tell us the story of Ashfur, showing how his love for Squirrelflight was left in shambles as the evil Bramblestar, (well, in his eyes) stole his princess from her! ALSO THAT APPEARANCE OF HOLLYLEAF?? THE WAY EVERYTHING DARKENED WAS JUST- WOW! I’m definitely going to watch Blood and Tears after this, ALSO THE CONSTANT SPOTLIGHT WAS JUST BRILLIANTT!!!!! I keep using this word, oh my. THE WAY SQUILF ASCENDED AND THE FIRE APPEARED WAS INCREDIBLE. AND THE ENDING WAS CARRIED OUT BRILLIANTLY AS THE ACTUAL SQUIRRELFLIGHT APPEARED! I LOVE THIS!!! the charecters, the emotions, i especially love squilf’s floof lmao. the lipsync and the song is so fitting!! the map really shows ashfur’s pain and how squilf is really being treated. i love all the animations!! the last part sent shivers down my back!! all the animators did incredible!!!

IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS!! ive seen so many map parts that intrigued me so much, i used to kin pre-fire ashfur because of depression and personality but this actually made me realize how he was always toxic and legit viewed squirrel as an object, squirrel needs justice with all of these toxic and abusive mates and situations like why wont the erins give her a break 😭

I've notice in this map Squirrelflight body structure in Ashfur's portrayal is incredibly different from the real Squirrelflight. Notice the big heart mane, tail, paw and ears Ashfur loves her so much and only thinks of her of a damsel which would explain her expression throughout the entire map. By the end however, it showed the real Squirrelflight short structure, lace white paw, no hearts in her mane, ears or tail. It's a neat detail showing how delusional Ashfur really is. He thinks of her as a damsel but in reality Squirrelflight much more than some damsel, proven to be independent and strong willed cat. Also I love how they portrayed Ashfur's view of Bramblestar, kinda shows he really can't take rejection very well. Man's got rejection issues. Gonna add how much I love the map

WOO I only discovered this map a month or so ago and it definitely turned out phenomenal!! I especially love the design element of Bramble being different from Ashfur's description-- pointy, longer fangs, mainly consisting of triangles, the evil yet soulless stare, versus him just being a frightened man by his wife's ex trying to steal his identity
the idea of Bollywood and warriors and dramatic movements was portrayed so well by the animators and fit the intensity of the song very well! I hope it gets more recognition than it has right now, its genuinely really well done!!!!

Finally got a chance to watch this with all my focus and boy do you not disappoint! Everything from concept to designs to the execution of each part is stellar, and I absolutely love how well Ashfur's dramatic delusions match up with the tone of a dramatic bollywood song. As everyone has been saying, the visual storytelling through the exaggerated and pupil-less Squirrel and Bramble are phenomenal but even outside that I love how well Ashfur's point of view and assumptions are communicated through the MAP. It is obvious you put a massive amount of work into this and you should 100% be proud of all that you accomplished!!

This whole story hits different after reading more recent Warrior Cats books like Alderheart's story with the way Bramblestar treats his family & clan, especially Squirrelflight.
The concept of this MAP was so cool, and I was extremely happy to see a popular MAP of a song from one of my grandparents' favourite movies. Thank you so much for making this MAP happen!

Pakistani here- I know nothing about warrior cats but this is absolutely Fantastic!!! The actor designs compared to the real designs, the choreography of how they move is So Good, this made me incredibly happy to see desi music being used like this :D Also, drawing cats is really hard! Everyone did an amazing job here

Damn this was an amazing map but my favourite part was when Squilf stopped Ashfur from killing Bramble like she was a whole boss at the end and I loved it so much ❤ also like how her white paw changed too showing that she isn’t a damsel in distress at all and she definitely can handle herself
as an indian warrior cats fan, i adore this map. but even more, as a bramblestar fan i LOVE the way you portrayed him in this. the point was to not make that bramble abusive v. non abusive claims, it was to show how biased and how disgusting ashfur was and how he rotted inside his own brain. his view of bramblestar was clouded in his anger because he blamed bramblestar for stealing squirrelflight away, so to ashfur, no matter what happens or what apologies or mending of relationship happens between squirrelfligh and bramblestar, he is still the problem at the end of the day. ashfur in his deluded mindset cannot fathom squirrelflight being happy with anyone but him, so he decided that he has to save her from the monster that is bramblestar. I LOVE THIS DUDE, बिल्कुल सही ढंग से बनाया गया!!!

I keep coming back to watch this map even months later and I just admire the storytelling so much. The song fits so well and the way everything is conveyed is like I'm watching a movie 😭 all the animators were capable of expressing the emotion, which really pulled everything together too. I also like how its from Ashfur's prespective of things, rather than just retelling the story exactly to the books, which I really admire the creative freedom in how it was told. It really is inspiring, and reminds me why animation is one of the coolest things to me. Super awesome work!!

DUDE!!! You’ve been talking about this since we first met and it’s SO DAMN COOL to see it come to fruition!!! Like MAN the effort is so clear in how much time and thought you put into the direction!!!
There’s SO MANY good details, but specifically wanna mention the stylized versions of Squilf and Bramble, Squilf’s design in general with her poofy tail and lace white paw, and my GOD the bits where Ashfur and Squilf ascend via ropes!! Like DAMN that was so fun and the bollywood theatrics influence is DELIGHTFUL. I ADORED the end credits too, SUCH a fun way to tie in the theatrics!

Many people have said this already but I just really like the contrast of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight in Ashfur’s eyes compared to how they actually look. Really goes to show how Ashie thinks about Squirrelf in this map as some sort of defenseless dame when she’s actually the complete opposite and Brambleclaw as this empowering brute
OMG YES more broken code stuff! I loved the parts of the books that dealt with the Dark Forest, and how Ashfur had managed to take over Bramblestar. It read like a horror novel.
I'm glad to see more and more animations on the broken code, and this was phenomenal. Best parts were seeing Ashfur shed Bramblestar's skin so to speak, and Squilf LEAPING in to save Bramble from Ashfur. GOD I love Squirrelflight.

All the animators did amazing! I didn’t grow up listening to this music all the time, but I would listen with my “cousins” to music like this because they grew up with it, and it brings back a lot of nostalgia! I also adore this map and the aspect of it with Squilf and Ashfur! This MAP is going to go down in history!
ALSO HERE’S A SMALL ANALYSIS PART I COULDN’T HELP MYSELF:
I noticed in the MAP that we slowly get showed about how Bramble is the Villain In Ashfur’s eyes, how we were shown Bramble being very manipulative of Squirrelflight, but as the map progresses we get shown the actuality and how ashfur in the end turns into the antagonist/villain of the MAP. I really like the progression of events here and I think this MAP was scripted really well going with this music as well, and you generally did such a good job managing and hosting the MAP!

As other comments have said, Ashfur is villainizing Bramblestar to protect his own ego. Then is Ashfur accusing Bramble of killing the Squirrelflight who loved Ashfur (aka an idealized version of Squirrelflight)?

Had to watch it once for the animation, then again with subs to get the full story, then a few more times to enjoy it all over!! This is amazing!!! The animators did a very good job! The whole idea behind this map is shockingly-both new, and classic. The colour pallete in which Ashfur stands out so much and still blends in is gorgeus! Squierrflight doesn,t have pupils until the very end which makes her look like she's only an image Ashfur created of her, and not a real person. The same goes with his imagination of Brambleclaw. The red and black backgrounds really show what emotions were the characters going through. My favourite part is the 4:23 one, cuz of the smooth animation of the tail, showing how Ashfur felt full of himself, with disrecpect towards Brabmeclaw. AMAZING!

IT'S DONE!!! Another incredible warriors map for my Playlist!!! I literally adore this - the overall dark and moody color scheme really really suits the atmosphere of the map, not to mention the designs?? They are simple yet really appealing to look at and it's super easy to tell who is who! I also absolutely love Ashfur's depiction of Squirrelflight and Brambelclaw/star (at least I'm pretty sure it's him) compared to the actual Bramble Ashfur's speaking to and Squilf towards the end - such a great way of representing his delusional views! Plus the symbolism of the posession process is so bone chilling, like?? It's so good and it's obvious how genuinely disturbed Bramble is, I love it!!! Overall this is an incredible map! Keep up the amazing work everyone

Can I just say the way these maps characterize and display Ashfur is fantastic!! I loved this one in particular, for him to have this prescene of a narrator/villian is perfect.
The production quality on this is simply fantastic! The storyboarding is brilliant and all the artists did an amazing job. It is very cinematic in the way the scenes were drawn ("moving camera," following the characters.) Well done!!

The parts in this map are... AMAZING! All of it! The way the perspective changes is beautiful. I know it must've been hard for the artists to do all those angles so its just amazing how much they do it around this map.

Every single one of the animators in this project did absolutely amazing job. No matter the skill level.
I noticed how some animators were focused the smooth animation,while the other focused on getting the character personality out and expressive. Both are wonderful and I respect that.
But I do gotta say that puppeteering of Ashfur and SquirrelFlight in that one scene was crazy. Shoot that and when he through off the Bramblestar pelt… Bro let’s just say I was surprised.

This has to be one of the best MAPs I’ve seen in the last few years. The visual storytelling is phenomenal, the designs are top notch, and the music matches everything perfectly. I have no idea how long I’ve been watching the parts come together for this and anticipated the final project, yet it somehow turned out SO MUCH BETTER THAN I EVER COULD HAVE IMAGINED!!!! I’m so grateful to all the animators who worked incredibly hard for this project to be completed and that the warriors community is continuing to include music from different parts of the world. This is definitely one of those projects I’ll be dragging my non-warriors-educated friends and family to see!

As someone who prefers watching Hindi movies more than English movies (though my language medium is English), I saw this as a hecking big win
I've always wanted a hindi song to be featured in a WC MAP because most of the MAPs were in English and something wasn't too right about it and slowly stopped watching them after a while. my wish came true, only that IT TOOK ME 5 MONTHS TO NOTICE THIS 😭Like how hhytvybtvunxyxgbryegbeubgxnuerugbfrvb I really can't explain my joy!!!!! The characters, storyline, they're all so good. In case you don't know, the reason why I prefer Hindi movies if because of the action and drama in them.

I fell out of the series not long after power of three so I wasn't entirely sure if id understand this story, but nope! Ashfur theatrics are universal and good lord did this nail it perfectly! The acting is insane and i was super excited to know not only does Ashfur comes back but that dramatic fucker possesses Bramble! This is stupidly god tier with the emotional impact, i might actually have to pick up the books again if it tells this even a tiny percentage of as well as you and these animatiors told it.
