    Also, clipping the bag allows you to punch through the whole range of motion which makes it more natural to keep shifting back and forth and continue a sequence of punches. When you thud the bag, your rotation is cut short and it kinda ends your combination/sequence.

      True I noticed it the other day, it felt more fluid like shadow boxing rather then having to reset back to guard.

    Its like snapping with a jab to get that hit instead of a push. Like the teep too. If you do a heavy hook it would be heavy mid kick with the power going through their body. but if you are clipping its more like a snapping high kick.
    I think these are two different hooks with different uses. This on is really good if you hit the chin because it doesnt require a lot of force. But a normal "heavy" hook would be useful to knock him off balance and then follow up with a roundhouse kick on the opposite side for example.

    This is the type of things Bruce Lee did. An also hitting different types of texture to simulate hitting different parts of the body
