    When she named the dinosaur Blue, I thought it was a Jurassic Park reference... then she named the little person "Green" and I was disappointed. Then she named the last one George and I realized she's just an agent of chaos, like her dad and her uncle Jason.

    (7:52) - Too bad the image showing the direction of 'winning' is actually wrong. it is showing 'losing' direction [Paper -> Scissor = loss, Scissor -> Rock = loss, Rock -> Paper = loss] but the idea is sound, as each 'change' keeps the 'loss' directional arrow correct.

    Recently, someone on P&T Fool us took the principle behind this, made a prediction trick with it, and fooled Penn and Teller. I still cannot fathom that they didn't get it. But that may be because I LOVE logic puzzles, and this is more of a logic puzzle then a magic trick. Cool presentation with the toys and all. And great explanation. The way I pictured it was with a triangle or arrows. And every time you swap two items, you flip the triangle with the not-changing item as a fixed point. That reverses the direction of the arrows. Swapping opponents works the same way, logically. The difference is that the triangle stays in place and it is your viewpoint that switches from above to below or vice versa.

    • @twn2324
      @twn2324 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just watched that P&T video and immediately thought of this scam nation explanation. The whole time I was thinking Penn & Teller had to know how this was done. But I was fooled.... because they didn't!!

    • @willemm9356
      @willemm9356 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They probably knew about the triangle thing, they just got thrown by the way the final prediction was fixed before the trick began, because it depends on the order of the initial picks of the items by A&P&T.
      In more detail: They seem to have thought he had two final predictions, one for each way they could have picked the items. (Ya know, the old two outs thing.) But it was something different.

    Next time you're in any kind of rock paper scissors situation, use this specific phrasing. "If you win, (insert opponents reward here) if not, (insert your reward here)". By using that particular phrasing, any draws/ties count as a win for you, because as it was stated, if you're opponent doesn't win, they lose. And since a tie/draw is not a win, they lose.

    if we assume whats meant with "the ages" is some notion of long term time keeping, i mean theres archeological evidence of prehistoric peeps marking months on bones, so i guess paleolithic is pretty much the start of "the ages" except thats still a way long period, and im not sure we can count it as long term timekeeping, so lets keep things easy and see if we can find something better. according to wikipedia, which we all know to be the most reliable source in all of science, the first recorded calendar is the Sumerian calendar, which is (and i'm totally quoting here because im not entirely sure what that actually means) a lunisolar calendar from the 21st century BCE. so i suppose that means "the ages" started in the 21st century BCE. and anything before that would have been "before the ages"

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but the order to remember of clockwise or counterclockwise is based on the figures (ie Blue, George, Green) and not the actual rock, paper, scissors order, right? You look at the RPS order to determine if the initial order of the figures is set up clockwise or counterclockwise. That way, whenever switches occur you just have to remember if it's George > Green > Blue or Blue > Green > George.

    OK a question: I’ve seen this trick performed by a magician and I get how he was getting his predictions. He had 3 players (knew their name) and he gave each an item, then asked them to swap. Once, then twice, then 3 times. Problem is, for his last prediction, he wrote it on the very same piece of paper that was being used in the game, all crumpled up. He then unfolded it and his prediction was on the paper, all correct. How could he have done that without knowing the initial circle direction? Without knowing that initially Bob beats Peter who beats Marry who beats Bob? He didn’t give the weapons out, he let the 3 players take them out of a box and he didn’t touch them at all so couldn’t have swapped the paper. How did he do it?

      Since there’s only two outcomes, it would presumably be easy to sleight of hand out the piece of paper with a duplicate that has the other result on it.

    I remember you teaching this years ago on scam school, and I put it into my stage show at that time. To make it stage worthy I used volunteers with colored shirts I gave them, and massive oversized props. For the finale I added a twist where I not only did the full circle, but also revealed which weapons belonged to who as well. I'll leave out how I did that. :D
