I lived in Crawley for 7 years from 2002 - 2009. I will always have a soft spot for it as it was my first taste of independence when I went to work for Monarch Airlines. I took for granted everything it offered as a town and the surrounding area.
Thanks so much. Crawley xentrr was a favorite of mine to checkout when i was working as cabin crew for EK like 11 yrs back. I remember an asda that was closeby
I was born there in 1964 and remember those shops looking fresh and new. I think there was a department store in what is now Wilco (Queensways?). I alao remember the town clock with the little model cars that moved around a track when it chimed.
Crawley has something of a ‘reputation’ being a new town. But it’s remarkable that the original ancient heart of the community still retains some very historic timber buildings…
Spent some very happy years working and raising a young family in Crawley. Circumstances forced a move, but always look forward to returning and visiting friends.
Nice vid. My last name is Crawley and have always wondered if I have any kin that came from that area. I'd like to visit it someday. I live in Texas, so a bit of a commute lol.
Ah nice, thanks for finding my video! Yeah I wouldn't recommend going to Crawley all the way from Texas, lol. Unless maybe you combined it with a trip to London or something.
The pub where they made their debut is The Railway formally The Rocket. It's at the very top of the high street where the video begins near the level crossing.
I will be relocating to Crawley in a few months, so thanks for the video. Hopefully my future videos on the town and its surrounding area won't be too disappointing, lol.
@@conathlnzo8126 been moved into town for almost a month now, and my experience here is mostly positive. This is a family-friendly town. Sure, it isn't a big city with major shopping malls and such, but you get almost everything you need here in town for relatively cheaper prices. I can also see the local economy is slowly picking up here, with new shops opening up within the town centre area; as well as the Overline Building redevelopment project in progress etc.
I lived in Crawley Northgate from Sept, 1992- Feb 1995 and had worked on our Government project at TTSL. Came back in 2016 but the vibrancy was not there. Had nice neighbors (Fred and family) and made some badminton friends (Maria and the co). I wonder if they are still there. My wife and I have many fond memories there. Crawley FC was not as big as they are now. I can't remember the name of the pub at the Parade.
I lived in Crawley from 2002 to 2006 and loved it there. Used to live in Brighton road in ravendene court... not sure if its still there that apartment complex. I worked for Virgin holidays which I know have closed down in Crawley.
I think it is, I’ll check next time I walk down there, there’s a lot of apartments with similar sounding names. I live here today and it’s still a nice place but there’s some changes I would make if I was in charge.
Nice video! Thanks a lot. Have been twice to Crawley (in 2018 and 2019) for the Snooker English Open. I stayed in the Barrington Lodge, a really nice place. I liked Tilgate Park a lot. OK, it is not a town I would say I go for a weekend to enjoy, but in a way it caught me, and really, I am sure to get back there one day when all this Covid problems are over.

Is it safe and quiet there?
One of the ancient and medieval buildings in Crawley has been relocated at the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum.

I wouldn't suggest coming here, it's awful, nothing interesting either
The last public hanging was carried out in Crawley... see if he was related to you. That pillar is still there.
Crawley means field of crows so it could refer to anywhere
Very nice video.

I grew up in Crawley between early seventies to 91. Not really been there much the last 30 years. Seems very empty now. Used to be bustling!
It is extremely crowded now. The video seems to have been mad early morning. During the day there's mad rush. I visited two years ago.
