The problem is that not everyone has access to the time travel mechanism. It is controlled by only a few. The “Roads” have existed for a long time now.

I think If physics is the key to time travel then the road has been there a long time! Love these vids. Great discussion

You blew my mind on so many levels with this. Yes time travel is real. You would travel out if you could go the speed of light and then travel out 6 months and then come back 6 months in space. The earth would be so far further than when you left it because you only entered a year earth and dirt a lot more than that because you went out into space. Going out into space is a lot different than being on Earth still

WTF! That is crazy to imagine.

Interesting. That one point made about the intent to invent in the future, I never thought about that. It makes sense too, the fact that you would have no proof you created something if you could just travel to when it was invented and travel back and say you invented it. Very interesting.

My favorite part about this isJoe going full rap god on time travel, and Bert is sitting there as confused as I was the first time I heard rap god.

All of this is chaos is presuming that _everybody_ has access to time travel just because it was figured out and a machine was built somewhere.
There are a hell of a lot of fancy and advanced things that have been invented which I will never so much as be in the same room as. This is the same for most people.
Edit; That being said, there were some things here that I have never even considered or heard mentioned. It was pretty cool.

the horrifying thing about time travel, if everything happens at the same time...we would be sooooo dead. the andromeda galaxy and the milkyway galaxy are on a collision course...the moment time travel is invented, that would be the end of both galaxies.

How about causality? How about the paradoxes this would cause? You can go back and prevent yourself to be born? Like Hawking said, there are laws in the universe that prevents certain things to happen.

I think that is where quantum computing and engineering come into play. Maybe time crystals too.
Hell, I don't know... I'm just pitching ideas that came to my mind.

Time travel would send you to parallel universe. You can't go back in this timeline.

As far as not going back before the first time machine, if they are possible then the fundamental particles of the universe are probably the mouths of submicroscopic wormholes which would already connect to different times. Your body, in effect would be made of wormhole time machines connecting you to different points in the past and future.

    • @bullwyrk

No because there woulnd't be any time machine in the future to be able to travel back

Of course, time travel is possible. In fact, it's unavoidable. It's just very rigid and only moves in one direction.
also ... I think it's cute that Joe believes that there are still going to be people in a million years.

  • @TobbeDraws

  • @mr.greysky

Time travel is impossible. Because you can't travel to a place that doesn't exist. A point in time is defined by a particular arrangement of energy and matter. But this arrangement of energy and matter is constantly changing. The only chance to restore a certain point in the past is to reverse the direction of movement of the energy. But this requires twice the amount of energy that is available in the entire universe.

the base assumption how time works seems wrong though. you dont travel back in time and influence your own past. you travel back in time, which makes the past the now and it wont have any impact on your former past. just doesnt make sense to think there time is a linear 2d path you can walk forward and backward on, coming back to the same moments.

Call me stupid and don't believe everything you see in movies,.....but Avengers Endgame. They say time travel doesn't work like you think it does. If you travel in time it would make alternate realities, different time lines. I know no one really knows, but was that just made up too?

    • @winser21
      @winser21 ปีที่แล้ว

From a naturalist point of view, it’s all made up. It’s based on a notion of a concept as we interpret it. Time is a sensation that humans perceive as something that exists on a continuum. It’s a metaphysical concept that we use to understand the world, not a tangible law of physics that we can solve, modify or interact with. The only possibility of time travel being real is if the creator of the universe designed it to be tapped into. In my estimation, if metaphysical concepts exist outside of the context of human understanding, then that proves the existence of God.

No one should ever do this. Think about it. The real world would turn into the MCU multiverse quantum realm and nothing that ever happens will matter. Look how well it worked out for them. Do you really want this for everyone?

If a time machine is ever invented it has already been invented. Also the existence of a multiverse doesn't make this timeline less important or real for us, we can't get to the other universes
