Wrestling was taken more seriously then and not looked at as just entertainment with people. Did you notice I said wrestling and not sports entertainment?
As a kid from Atlanta, my dad and I would go to NWA Saturday Night, when this music hit the pop OMG!! Sting was and will always be my favorite... vs Flair, Vader, Luger, Rude, The Horsemen he fought them all... greatest moment, I got to take a picture with him and he signed my poster, I will never forget it... Stinger 4-life...
Yes! I'm also from Atlanta I remember going to the old Omni downtown and everybody would wait for this music and the hollering would start. Favorite of ALL TIME 🔥🦂
I'm a kid who grew up watching him on Tapes I'd get at Indy Shows, WWE 24/7, and later the Network. Surfer Sting was the best one, I know he did The Crow because he was getting older, and he wanted to evolve his character. But him as Surfer Sting was probably the perfect balance of being Frenetic, Electric, Powerful, and Technical in the Ring.
One of the coolest atmospheric moments in wrestling happened at Great American Bash '90 when Sting's music hits. Just look it up on here and you'll see what I mean.
I was kicking myself that I didn't get to go to the Clash event in my hometown that led up to Great American Bash. The Ric Flair-JYD main event had a huge run-in between the Horsemen and the Dudes with Attitudes. Twice!! Sting made his triumphant return THAT night to a huge pop from the crowd. And, wouldn't you know it, my small, regional cable company did not carry PPV back in the day.
We were waiting for MONTHS for Sting to get his hands on Flair. Bei g booted from the Horsemen, the injury, the teases with Luger. Great moment. However Vince would've planned Sting's crowning at GAB 1990 ALOT better.
i wish Sting would come back one last time (at least) as surfer Sting to this theme. He had a good run as the crow Sting but surfer Sting was his peak. I mean looking at all these shots of him, I forgot just how exciting he could be.
@@simeonflake Yea Joker era maybe my least favorite but still he made it work as best he could. To me his early WCW career he is the quintessential Babyface, exciting, great charisma, he could pull off the high impact moves and sell for ages and had a great ability to get over with the fans
+John Hinkle Me too i first watched sting and wcw in 1988 when wcw was called nwa it was starrcade 88 when him and dusty rhodes faced the road warriors since then i was hooked lol
+WCWFanForever if I remembered Sting With color was kinda better than crow because when he turned to crow he was kinda weaker I'm not saying it's bad but sting is the best from UWF,WCW,TNA,WWE. He was the best of all if. If people think it's other wrestlers people need to learn sting story, one.
This is my all time favorite entrance theme of The Stinger. His next theme was ok, but this theme, his first Crow theme, and his WWE theme as The Vigilante rock balls.
With out a doubt I can call myself the biggest fan of Stinger. I never saw Sting fighting in his prime, I always think that he was a bit old school old fashioned guy. But after watching this custom tron I am amazed how exciting Sting was I mean he was stunning..........................
For all the (rightful) love Howard Finkel gets...cue this up and have Gary Michael Capetta on the mic : "THIS. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS. STTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!" Always loved that Sting had his own unique intro phrasing like that.
1 of my favorite Jim Ross calls of Sting was Sting's entrance to the ring at WCW Superbrawl 2 in February 1992, and this quote's been heard on WWE. He says, "This place is shakin, The Stinger, will challenge for wrestling's richest prize, and man, does he have a legion of fans, young and old alike, they're just I mean rabid for this man. He challenged good friend, and old rival, "The Total Package" Lex Luger, for Luger's WCW World Heavyweight title at this event.
Won his first NWA/WCW World Title with this theme, so this will ALWAYS be his theme imo. Good to hear after all these years. Sting is actually underrated going back and looking at his matches, especially if you just look from 88-90, his improvement is crazy. He actually lost some hops after that knee injury in 1990, but I didn't notice until THIS YEAR!
I wish this was the Sting that debuted in WWE. I don't care if he's balding, I still want him to have his bleach blonde flat top and rat tail. Fuck it.
Sting and warrior made me a fan of wrestling.they looked like two superheroes from comic books with their larger than life builds and colorful attires.
Sting vs Vader is what got me into wrestling! This Sting, not the Crow Sting. Sting was so much more athletic back then...he had alot more moves also...ha....good times. But I have to say that all of Sting's incarnation were great. Sad his career ended with injury...
One of the most iconic entrances I have ever seen when I was a kid Great American bash, sting versus Ric Flair in the all red white and blue face paint with all the fireworks and sparklers coming down behind him and all you saw was his silhouette, kids were going nuts when this music would hit, because I was a kid in this era this will always be my favorite ring theme for him
If only I had gotten my wish and Sting and Warrior faced off for the world title. We could've heard two of the most iconic themes of the era then watched the Bladerunners come full circle. The man from everyone's nightmare vs the man brought down from the cosmos.
The spot when he came out to surprise the little stinger dressed I’ll as him was a legit great moment. That kid looked so happy and excited to meet his hero. And of course it’s immediately ruined by Nikita coming out and attacking Sting in front of the kid and his mother
I'm glad that JR on commentating whenever someone did the stinger splash he didnt rename it he called like it is often most change the move names in the different wrestling promotion like Scott's frankensteiner calling it hurricanrana.
@@KevinGsWK Sting tried every time he got on the mic. I don't think Warrior tried every time he got on the mic. I know that Sting was a little out there but he meant well. Warrior was in between and bordered upon erratic moreso than eccentric.
Is it me or does everything look more realistic in the 80s and 90s
It looked more believable then because everyone was on juice and brutal-looking moves didn't get banned after one person got injured.
Because they were actual men in the ring and not little boys playing video games like they are now.
I think he meant the way the camera looks. It has that grainy edge.
Wrestling was taken more seriously then and not looked at as just entertainment with people. Did you notice I said wrestling and not sports entertainment?

THE BEST theme that Sting ever had, no question!!!
I remember being at Starrcade 90 and as soon as this music hit the roof at the Kiel Auditorium nearly blew off. It was awesome!!!

Great entrance but of course low budget wcw cut his music before he even made it into the ring to greet the fans lol
Ahhh yesss...the infamous "Stinger firework/pyrotechnic miscue entrance.
This was "The Stinger's" greatest theme.

Sting right before he became Crow Sting was his best look.
Am I the only one who loves all versions of Sting?
No, not at all... :-)
Me too
I feel I’m in the heavy minority who prefers Stings early Super Babyface (Surfer) Sting look but all eras are cool
The only version of Sting I'll always take a pass on is Joker Sting--then again, it was rare when TNA/Impact didn't turn down a crappy idea...
