- Let’s make a silver and labradorite ring while we talk about soldering jewelry and tips and techniques for beginners.
Apparently, I don’t know how to make a short video ! But, soldering is such a broad subject that I could talk hours about it. I’m basing everything I say on my own experience at this time.
Hi, my name is Morgane, I’m a self-taught jeweller working with silver and telling stories in my tiny studio in France.

Disclaimer : I experienced some technical issues with the sound of this video, and I had to re-record bits and pieces. I apologize if it sounds a bit weird. I’ll know and do better next video.

Thank you for your support !
I appretiate your work and time that you've put in this video, I myself try to make sure to have beautiful shots for my videos with many angles and I know how hard it can be, but in the end I believe it adds so much to the viewing experience (: well done! would love to see more sketches and you come up with ideas and designs
Thank you for appreciating the work !
And I agree, craftsmanship, no matter which craft, is so beautiful to see that it needs to be honored !
Definitely something I’m planning to film for the next collection, a tutorial on how I design.
So amazing!!!!!
Thanks !
So informative and well done, thank you Morgane.😍
Thank you Violet !
This is one of the best instructional videos on soldering that I've seen. Wish it existed 18months ago! Would have saved a lot of swearing 😂
I will definitely use the tip for masking with 3B pencil and also the see saw clamp for earrings posts, genius.
Thanks Morgane 🤗
☺️ thank you so much ! There is so much information out there that you get lost in it, especially when you’re just getting started, I tried to condense the main topics but I seriously could go on and on !
Thank you so much! ☺ You were very clear and calming at the same time. Soldering used to stress me a lot at the beginning, especially using brass. It is getting better with practice, but still soldering bezels is quite challanging for me.
Thank you for this comment ! Making jewelry is a game of patience isn’t it ? I know that every time that I’m getting frustrated, I’ll brake more blades, I’ll melt pieces, I’ll drop pieces a the end of the polishing stage creating new scratches, etc …
Keep practicing and you’ll get more confident as you go. If you can, make it a whole practice session with cheap stones and solder as many bezels as you can. If you focus your practice on your weaknesses, you’ll see improvement faster. 💪
@@lystale_jewelry Thank you for tip, I'll try! 🥰
Which metal wire is better for binding? Thank you for the video!
I’m using an iron wire. You can usually find some in the soldering category of your preferred jewelry tools shop, either iron or stainless steel, depending on what they distribute. Or you can find some at your hardware store, make sure it is not coated and about 24-26 gauge/ 0,5-0,4 mm.
