  • Using the John Deere 200lc with Trimble Earthworks and the Engcon EC226 tiltrotator to grade out a garage floor at a 1% pitch. These two systems working together is unreal. Almost no hand work to be done! Like what you see? So I’m also a job foreman for the family company. Looks like you and I have a similar job role. My dad and I have discussed the engcon and Trimble system. I’d even by happy with just the Trimble system. It looks so much more efficient than a laser and a guy walking around with a grade stick and the engcon looks incredibly handy. Looks like it saves you A LOT of tracking around. Very cool

    Nice Job ! I also work with a tiltrotator (kinshofer nox) ,and i'ts pretty cool to see that somebody uses that same little ''tricks'' as me for grading , and i'ts true ..you've got a lot appreciation from handworkers :-) . The only downside for me is the stability loss on my wheeled excavator and my boss won't pay for a trimble ;-) . Greetings from Belgium

    When I worked on building sites we did that job with a shovel,and a damned sight more quickly. And nobody stood around watching either! Digger operators do differ.I could work near the bucket with one of the men,but I wouldn't get into the trench with one of the other chaps at the controls. Only fast reactions prevented me getting my head smashed on one occasion was enough for me! The dipper swung around too fast and I hit the ground just in time,I dived flat and that saved my life.

  • @andersisacson8262

    The problem with certain owners is that they see it as a luxury when it's truly a key to unlock the machines true potential. They have been around in Sweden since the late 80's which was when I started to work around them. They make an ordinary operator really good and a really good one absolutely great. Can't get hired without one these days. They are made for machines up to 33tons.

    Have you ever been hit by a digger bucket? I have. And by an experienced operator that I had been working with for about 5 years and trusted with my life -because that’s what you’re doing when you work inside the boom swing of a digger for the sake of waiting 5 min, just stay out of his operating zone until he or she has stopped. All it takes is one operator slip up or hitch failure in your career and you just killed your mate and damaged their family for life.
    They don’t have eyes in the back of their head -assume they haven’t seen you until they acknowledge that they have.
    It’s not worth it to you or your business to push it that extra bit, because when it goes wrong everything you thought you gained plus far more than that has just gone down the tubes. You actually save far more than you would think by playing it safe.
    This operator may have skills but NEVER swing over a machine cab let alone a co-worker who you can literally squash like a bug without even knowing.
    Other than that interesting video 🤔

    • @darabradley5173
      @darabradley5173 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mister Beans my dad was almost killed putting up a fence using a digger, it was his job to hold up the post as the digger operator pushed them in, my dad was standing under the bucket waiting for the bucket to come down and push in the post when a pipe for the main ram ruptured and the boom dropped, my dad jumped and the bucket fell to the ground inches away from his heel

    • @misterbeans6064
      @misterbeans6064 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dara Bradley I’m so glad for you that your dad got to come home in one piece. He did very well not be hurt or even killed -but sadly it wasn’t good or bad luck that put him in that position where he had to jump for his life when the machine failed. There are components that can be installed on booms to prevent exactly what happened to your dad from happening. They are compulsory in some companies -think of how much is really saved by using them -more than money it’s people’s lives.
      But this raises another interesting point because actually serious injury at work can change your life and your family’s lives forever, in the blink of an eye. Think about how you want your life to be when you’re retired -fishing?.. golf?.. playing with the grandkids? Throwing a football around, playing catch or tennis in the back yard.. walk at the beach.. we don’t have to be broken down old people at 65.
      Play it safe people, take care of yourself and the people around you and go home in as good condition as when you left for work or even better. Do it for your family 👍

    • @darabradley5173
      @darabradley5173 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mister Beans this happened about 15-16 years ago and thankfully he lived to tell the tale, they had been using an old Hymac digger which didn’t have any of the safety equipment found on modern machines, I think it’s fair to say someone was watching over him that day. Thanks for your concern

    • @kewlmanable
      @kewlmanable 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is true never stand under the boom when a ho i running

    • @Zteffe666
      @Zteffe666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't even have to be the operators fault (even tho it's probably the most common reason). A guy here in Sweden with close to 40 years of experience managed to kill himself, simply by taking a "shortcut". He was laying pipe in a trench on his own property, and had to adjust something. So he just lifted the bucket straight up, jumped in to the trench, and the bucket came of the attachment and fell 7-8 feet on to his head, killing him instantly. Police investigations came to the conclution that the "ears" on the bucket were severly worn and cracked, making them come lose and killing the guy.
      So the basic rule is, NEVER stand or work directly under any piece of machinery. And never swing equipment directly over someone...

We got a new cat 325f with the Trimble TD520 installed. For some reason it is reading the laser but not accepting it. The cat tech been down 3 days in row now and we’ve gotten no where. When it dectects the laser strike it beeps but the icon on the display doesn’t light up to accept laser strike or decline it. (Doesn’t matter if in auto accept mode or not). Is the icon suppose to light up or do something when it detects laser strike?? Thanks

      Yes, get the trimble system first. I think that is a better and cheaper investment at first. Once you learn what it can do you will probably start to use the machine more and more as well.

    • @derKarl_stp
      @derKarl_stp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the trimble system (with laser) works perfectly for complete projects from start to finish... starting from the layout at first (grade check) going on to excavation as well as working with filling materials like gravel and sand... land scaping work as well as stone walls and ditches/drainage trenches... there are tilt rotators for mini excavators as well but they cost nearly the same as the big ones...
      so it is way more cost effective to get the trimble system at first because if you have a laser you connect it with you can use the laser for all the other surrounding works as well... the tilt rotator system makes sense when you do a lot of work with pipes and sewers... because then you can work around those things without repositioning the machine (the smaller machines lose a a bit more lifting capacity compared to the big ones when you scale those units up)
      I am with the Ninja... if possible... get the trimble system first and then once you are used to it think about maybe getting the tilt rotator as well... perhaps with a larger machine

    I have a question about engcon joysticks. Could it have been possible to use unused buttons to control the Trimble rather than using external buttons.

    This has been standard in Sweden like 10 years , but from what i read in comments is like its something very uncommon in US ? I mean using a engcon/ steelwrist whatever brand of tiltrotors? . Iam an excavator operator myself and there is like ZERO machines here without it.

      Here where im working,on a brand new machine they don't wanna buy any of those equipment,like it is unnesesary luxury,and i do a lot of work under water level,we are 20 years behind Scandinavian countries.

      I have one with only tilting head, no rotation.. so they do exist. ;) But you probably mean owned by companies that make money and then it's almost true.

      This is some years after your comment and in the US I have still never seen anything even similar to this in person. Only seen them in TH-cam videos. We do all of our work old school still. I assume the companies just don’t think it’s necessary to invest for this. This is like watching science fiction lol

    I'd like to see the gains this machine could make in digging the hole in the first place. But a stone slinger with a good operator would make this look even easier. Imo

    This machine is called the “Fire more Laborers”😂😂😂🤷‍♂️

    • @joedufour8188
      @joedufour8188 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not according to the video. They have a ton of laborers. What they did with that bucket alone would require 1 laborer max. In NE America, the same thing would be seen with 1 operator with a fixed bucket with one laborer. I bet those laborers in the video are paid more as well.
      If more can be done with less labor, the cost should go down. Instead, we are all getting screwed in cost and the few are getting rich while the rest are getting poor. No one person "earn" $1,000,000 a year. Not a single person does. They all "make" that money off the backs of those who get screwed over by doing all the work to earn that money and are forced to accept pay that is well beneath their work.

    I was just wondering? I have seen that other guy that likes Volvo. And this young man seems to like cat. And with all the brands to choose from witch one will last the best under hard hours? I mean as for as purchase price and repair price ? After say 5000 hours if that's alot for these machines. With all the same set ups. What would list the longest with lots of hard hours?? Thanks

      How big is your operation? If you aren't big enough to get corporate recognition from the company you are buying from, then I would just focus on the local dealer.
      Even if you buy the best machine on the market, but your local dealer is a pain in the ass, it will be horrible.
      And all equipment is pretty good nowadays if you are buying new, usually there aren't that many differences between them in performance.
