Its been 8 months since I got my vx2000 and PowerPlay and I still cant thank you enough for saving me from having to deal with tapes and firewire recorders and all that kinda stuff!

What site did you order the dvr on? They seem to be backordered on every site in the US

Also since it's recording in mono, I am using a simple RCA audio cable and it works perfectly fine

It's just a 3.5mm-3.5mm AV cable, unfortunately there's not any that will work without some kind of spacer to keep it in the right place afaik
I just got the power play but i get this loud buzzing noise on clips, idk if it the wires they gave me are bad or if it’s the connection jacks. The audio was fine when i was using the clearclick so i don’t think it’s coming from the GL2
Hello! How do you get your GL2 to record without showing all of the settings that appear on the LCD? I can’t figure it out. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Go into your settings on the GL2 and turn off TV DISPLAY.

Not sure if this has been asked yet, but does the power play record sound from the cameras mic?
If not what are some ways to get around that
For some reason, when I plug in the cords, switch the yellow and white plugs, and plug in the AV into the powerplay, my footage won't show up correctly on the sony camcorder. However, it works fine for my GL2
saw this a while ago already and wanted to buy the powerplay but unfortunately it was sold out (just like on every other website i was searching) and continued to be until now that it's saying discontinued on the website :(
need some tips cause i have been recording on my sd card it can playback the file after recording but when plugging the sd card into my computer all the files just become unreadable in the pc and even when placed back on the powerplay
Does it record both left and right audio? I heard that it only gets one audio streams?
I purchased the 3.5mm rca cable as well as the 3D printed spacer linked in the bio but it seems like the 3.5mm cable doesn’t fit. I have to hold the cable out from the spacer just a hair and when I move while recording the video breaks up. I was wondering if anyone would know of a rca cable that fits! Thank you

Just stumbled upon this channel and the video and subscribed immediately. That said, Powerplay DVR seems to be discontinued and I'm desperate to get one. Anyone has any clue where to find it?
If I buy a vx1000 and it has video defects will this be the right thing I need? Because I’m not filming from the camera because I press record on the power play
loved the vid just wondering how you would use a light that is connected to the hot shoe but also run it tapless
I'd either use a hotshoe splitter or chuck the dvr somewhere else using 3m pads or dual lock velcro
I use a ccd trv-16 camcorder and it only has the yellow and white video and audio plugs and not a video/audio plug. I was wondering if a headphone jack to rca splitter would work if not could you recommend some alternatives?

Maybe a weird question. Can this record in any other frame rates other than 60fps? I am not looking for slowmo. Or do you output from premiere in 60fps?
Its 50p for PAL and 60p for NTSC but its only slowmo if you slow it down?
I used this power play on my hi8 cam, when I record footage onto the power play it doesn’t seem to transfer to SD card do you know what I’m doing wrong?

Capturing at 720x480 then resizing to 640x480 would fix the pixel ratio or nah?

my vx2100e has a really annoying flashing icon whenever you try to run it without a tape in the deck, anyone know if theres a way to turn this off in settings or do I just need to leave a tape in the deck all the time?

Yeah you just play it back on the camera and press record on the DVR

Question: when the powerplay records does it force a certain fps? For example if I have a camcorder that has 24p will the powerplay also record in 24p natively? Or will it ignore the camera setting and record in 30/60 fps? Thank you
Pretty sure its just 60/50 fps no matter what

Do you think this device would also work with HDV? I've got an old Sony HDR-HC1E that is constantly having tape deck issues.
You'll want a HD recorder for HDV - something like an atomos

Turn off demo mode on the menu
does this work with sony handycam DCR-TRV240
from what i see i think this would work on the hvx200, but do you think i would need a p2 card in order to start recording? as those are really expensive for what they are.

Thanks man, the advantage is the frame rate (for slowmos) and the codec. It also used to be cheaper than the digitnow when it was more widely available!
@@NEONAIRSHIP cheers man. Ive got an XM2 for free as it has the "remove cassette" error when trying to rewind. Its in great conditiin and i want to shoot with it. Just trying to weigh up options. Have you managed to find another good solution? Since the powerplay is sold out.

Will flat top 18500 batteries work? Or does it need to have the tops to fit in? Link directs me to the ones with tops but in the video it’s flat tops. Does it matter which ones I order?
Probs be alright with either, the battery tabs have some flex in them
Help is anyone else’s footage very dark and glitchy? Vx1000. It just looks extremely dark and contrasty. It also glitches every time it picks up a sound? I don’t know if mine is faulty or what. Everything looks fine through the actual vx viewfinder :/

do u know how to get rid of the "no tape" icon on the TRV900? the only way ive figured out how to stop it is by putting a tape in, which kinda defeats the purpose of going tapeless to me.
It doesn’t capture it on the power play it only shows on the view finder
The reason the AV cable doesn't work is that the FPV goggles that the PowerPlay is designed to work with have a non-standard pinout. If you search for Fat Shark AV cable, you might find what you want. Or this one has worked for me in the past: 3.5mm to RCA, Qaoquda 90 Degree Angle 3.5mm 1/8" TRRS Stereo Pulg Male to 3 RCA Female Jack Adapter Cable-6 inch

I got my powerplay but I've noticed a huge quality difference between tapes and the powerplay. I know that the RCA connection is not supposed to be as good looking but compared to videos like this showing it off mine looks pretty awful. If you have any tips lmk.
try using s-video cables or dv to firewire 1394
Just got a Powerplay as I was tipped off that they were available from Croatia. (About $150. with shipping though, but it's the only game in town).
Using it on GL2, editing in Vegas pro 9 (old software, I know) The converting from square pixels you describe is not the same (or available?) in Vegas. My videos don't look as crisp as yours. Can you give me any advice on settings in Vegas, GL2 settings or Powerplay settings to make my vids look crisper?

I have an old song dvr-trv530 camcorder. I don’t have the red, white, and yellow outputs on there. But I have the yellow audio/video port. Would this still work with my camcorder? Just curious.
Yes. You would need the 3 to 1 A/V cable so the microphone looking plug goes into the A/V yellow hole.
What format for the microsd did you use for recording?

How do you remove the display settings so I can record a clear frame and not have battery/tape icons?
Turn off the TV DISPLAY settings in your camcorder menu options.
I'm not sure if it is an issue with the Power Play or my computer but all the footage I export stretches out into 3:2 aspect ratio rather than 4:3. It is easy to compress it back to 4:3 but is very time consuming. I was wondering if you knew a way around this?
