I am an older man in the USA and have heard all the DIVA's that have come before, and to me, Sohyang is the best female vocalist on the planet, not just Korea. It is her support, and techniques that she has perfected so much more than any other singer I have heard in my 58 years. I know she does not want the world fame, but in my opinion, the rest of the singers in the world need to recognize her in some way. Give her an awar45d of some kind for all she has done for the rest of us through her singing.
For me, So Hyang is not just Korea’s best singer, she’s one of the world’s best singers of all time. I really love your reactions, please keep making more videos.

2001년 군생활때 상병이었는데 당시 반석위에 듣고 반나절은 어안이 벙벙해서 100번 가까이 들었던거 같아요. 노래하실때 가슴을 후벼 판다고 해야하나...그리고 특유의 웅장한 가스펠 느낌이 너무 좋습니다. 최고네요 진짜...
소향님은 성량, 고음, 공명, 호흡, 해석력, 진실성... 감성표현 , 다양한 장르 소화력.... 전세계인들과 전세계 보컬코치들도 충격 먹는 세계탑 보컬이죠. 저는 그 정도까지인지 몰랐는데.... 세계인들이 먼저 그렇게 표현하는 걸 보고 느끼기 시작했죠.
소향의 최대장점은 고음보다는 오히려 낮은음을 정말 제대로 구사한다는거다.
1절을 워낙에 잘 부르니까 톤조절이 처음부터 끝까지 완벽한거다.
지금 여기 영상에 나온 저 분들이 1절 끝나고 1절에 대한 중간 리액션 해줬을때 그때 나온 멘트들이 모두 정답인거고
거기에 가장 중요한 키워드(소향님이 왜 이렇게 노래를 잘 부르는가 하는 그 궁금증에 대한 열쇠)가 있는것이다.
1절 부를때 키를 처음 시작할때부터 다른 여타 가수들보다 음역대를 높게 가져갔지만 그에반해 톤은 매우 미세하고 부드럽게
텐션을 유지하면서 1절을 끝까지 불렀기에 2절부터 자기가 원하는 본 모습이 서서히 시작되는것이다.
물론 2절 후렴부(클라이막스)에 나오는 엄청난 고음 그 자체는 어디까지나 본인만의 재능(달란트)인거지만 그 클라이막스를 터트리기
위해 조금씩 조금씩 톤(텐션)을 올리는 모습을 보면 그녀가 얼마나 섬세하게 부르는지를 알 수 있다.
2절이 처음 시작되는 부분을 잘 들어보면 본격적으로 시동을 걸기 시작하지만 사실은 1절에서 이어온 톤에서 그 상태에서 아주 살짝
톤을 더 얹이면서 시작했다.그러면서 한 프레이징(소절)이 바뀔때마다 또 한 톤씩,또 한 톤씩...
그렇게 올리다가 나중에 클라이막스에서 확 지르는것이다.
그런데 여기에서 중요한것은 그렇게 클라이막스까지 도달할때까지 톤을 올릴때 유지되고 있는 텐션이 죽지않고 끝까지 살아있다는거다.
살아있는 상태에서 한 소절 바뀔때마다 톤이 조금씩 바뀐다는거지.그러니 그 테크닉은 여기 이 영상 맨마지막에
남자 보컬코치님이 말씀했듯이 이게 어떤 의미인지, 뭔지를 알아도 내가 소향이 아니라고 한다면 할 수가 없다는거다.

가사 전달력도 기가막히게 잘되었고 특히 신기한게 소향님이 미국 애국가 미국 농구에서 불렀는데 그걸 미국인이 리액션으로 보고 난후 말하는데 본인은 미국 군대도 갔다와서 미국 애국가를 다른 가수들이 어느정도 불러도 느낌이 없다고하는데 그 미국남자 군필이 말하길 너무나 잘부르고 느낌이 와닿는 노래라고 칭찬을 하던데요. 진짜 기가 막히네요. 미국에서 살고 온것도 아니고 전라도 광주에서 학창시절 보내고 영어를 독학해서 미국인이 듣기에도 본토 발음이라는데.ㄷㄷ

Wow, it's so cool to get the reaction video from Koreans who are in the music industry. I kept thinking that you all must know her ahead of time. So nice to hear that two of you actually sang with her. Clearly knowing Sohyang and listening to her singing are two entirely different things. Love how you reacted to her decrescendo towards the end of the first verse. When Sohyang gets into her high gear...yes. It's just indescribable and we can only be awestruck. Interesting that you choose this IM2 performance. She has many amazing stages from IM2 and KoMS. Hope to see you again.
I like how both South Korean female singers/coaches reacted to various parts of the song. They instinctively knew that what Sohyang just did is amazing -- like they wondered how could they do the same thing as her: pure angelic voice, octave jump, long straight tone with decrescendo, gospel twang, initial belt, vocal riffs & runs, dynamics, bigger & bigger belts, spoken words after all the belting, and final huge belt closing with strong vibrato. One coach knows about Yolanda Adams, a Grammy Award winning gospel singer, too.

물론 소향은 보컬테크닉이 세계정상급인건 맞습니다 부정할수 없죠
다만 소향만이 가능한 기술인거처럼 착각하시면 안됨

일마치고 소향 리액션 매일 하루도 안빠지고 짧게3시간 길면 ? 정도로 보고 있는 팬 입니다. 얼마전에 과로 때문에 병원에 입원을 했는데 의사 쌤이 하는 말이 잠 좀 자랍니다. 병실에서도 이어폰을 끼고 소향 리액션을 보는데 문득 드는 생각이 이러다 골로 가는거 아닌가 하고 ㅠㅠ 끈을 수가 없습니다~ 감동,국뽕,눈물,환희,부러움 등등 표현이 불가능할 정도로 재미가 있는걸 어떡해ㅠ

I am told by Gremlin and a few others (who watches her live performances on a regular basis) that TH-cam is not a good reflection of her voice. She has so much more resonance in her live performances. I hope to attend her live performance one day.
My favourite song of Sohyang is Dear Love (from The One). Unfortunately, you will not be able to see her face as it is in King of Mask Singers. Hope you can react to that.

8:16 결국 제일 중요한 것은 이거인듯 알아도 못함 ㅠㅠ 그러니깐 노래를 하는 사람도 그렇게 소향 노래만 들으면 눈물이 나는거같음. 나도 나름 노래를 하는 사람인데 한 평생 저렇게 노래해볼 수 없다는걸 알고 알아도 못하는걸 알기 때문에 그 동경의 마음이란 이루 말할 수가 없을듯 ㅠㅠ
마이크를 움직이지않아도 성량조절을 거의 완벽하게 컨트롤하면서도 목의 근육의 긴장을 놓지않고 고르게 유지하는건 정말 매우 어려운 보컬테크닉 아무나 할 수 있는것이 아닌 노력의 성과

@@user-pp5kn3gk1g 제가 어렸을 때 한 20년 전? 그보다 훨씬 옛날에 교회를 다녔었는데 그때 교회에서는 소향은 엄청난 유명인이었죠. 세상은 모르는 숨겨진 보물을 우리들만 아는 느낌? 소향의 찬양 테이프를 교회에서 테이프가 다 늘어질 때까지 다같이 모여서 들었던 기억이 나네요. 그때 소향이 어마어마한 노력파에 연습량이 엄청나다는 얘기를 들었던 기억이 납니다. 그때도 아마 더 많은 사람에게 찬양을 들려주기 위해 영어공부도 엄청 열심히 한다고 했었죠. 그냥 타고났기 때문에 잘한다고 하는 말은 뼈를 깎는 노력을 한 사람에게는 다소 실례일수도 있는 말이 아닐지 생각됩니다.
소향은 곡마다 혼신의 힘을 다해 에너지를 쏟아내는듯 합니다.
