Sylvie Von Duuglas-ittu from 8LimbsUs has created a whole library of footage and archives for Muay Thai in order to preserve the golden era of muay thai, in a country that is quite poor and has only really started having a digital impact in the last decades. Her work is extremely valuable.
How we dont have an extensive single place for all MMA, in a time when digital media is so close to its beginning, is a massive shame. But it can be done. It should be done.

"Heroes of the Ring" ran for 2 years on TV Continental, every Monday. Carlos Gracie was basically the showrunner. The cast of fighters include João Alberto Barreto and Hélio Vigio, who were referees in the first UFCs. In 1999, Róbson Gracie did a revival show for brazilian tv station CNT.

10:20 the fact that you haven’t seen the rest of the footage should tell you what you need to know. Even Conor’s coach mentioned on Rogan’s podcast Paulie touched him during the session. Gotta remember paulie was retired and out of shape. He was dumb for thinking Conor wasn’t about to use him for marketing promoting the Floyd fight. He seemed to think he was consulting haha that’s on him. Leaking footage is just downright dirty but ultimately he got played. That said, even an out of shape Paulie got his licks in apparently. Not surprising with the end or transition of companies and tech. What shocks me is that the UFC does not even have images of their early event posters (SEG era).... if you look at the event poster collages for the 25th and 30th anniversary, for many early events they show the VHS cover and not the event poster. Glad I focused on collecting SEG era stuff... bet I own UFC items the UFC isnt even aware of.

MMA Meltdown should be recognized as a pioneering force, being the first combat sports show exclusively aired on AM and FM radio, setting a precedent that surpassed the confines of blog talk platforms. Moreover, the show's availability on the ESPN website and its accolade as Colorado's number one sports specialty show underscore its significant impact and success in an arena where few anticipated a combat sports-only show could thrive on traditional radio.

The Pride original broadcasts were infinitely better than the one's UFC has on their streaming service. They cut a lot of the fighter entrances which were a huge part of Pride. I remember distinctly Crocop's rematch with Kevin Randleman and the amazing camera work as Crocop was making his entrance coming out to Wild Boys. It panned over Randleman who was jumping about 10 feet into the air as it moved back out towards Crocop. It's hard to explain, but it gave me goosebumps. Most of these entrances were only shown on the original Japanese broadcasts but were removed in the DVD's and for streaming.

Tapouts put out a documentary, “Bad For The Sport.” All I could find is the series.
Wanderlei vs Krazy Horse, if that even exists anywhere.
Iron Ring, where rappers managed teams in mma. I remember Floyd and Rick Ross had teams.

Thanks for featuring some of my clips of Pre-PRIDE. If you're worried about preserving #mmahistory, I'm currently working on a book about the kakutougi boom. Pre-PRIDE is just one chapter.

Your channel needs to also keep backup copies of all your archives and footage for the good of preserving MMA's history. You probably have one of the most extensive collections at this point.

The amount of VHS I have in my collection is crazy lol, Universal Vale Tudo, U-JAPAN, Fighting Network RINGS, programs booklets from these events, and PRIDE and the SEG era of the UFC, Posters, Tickets, shirts and such, I've been collecting for almost 4 years! this dana white should do what he can to preserve MMA History! Ignore some "financial dispute" from a million years ago!

UFC does not really promote their history as much as I think they should, other than a few years ago during the anniversary they did a bunch of old fights on youtube.

Video gamers realized long ago that you can't depend on corporations to save anything, or at least not give you access to it.
Lost media will remain lost until the fans do something to preserve it.

I mean the source of this disappearing history is going to be chalked up to mainly two things. 1. Stuff being recorded on materials or in methods that didn't have the best shelf life cause no one really had longevity as a priority or 2. Promotions scrubbing the stuff that puts them in a bad light clean from the public records (obviously way harder to do nowadays but that 90s and early 2000s stuff would be a lot easier to get rid of).

Don't forget that even in the earlier days of MMA, before Pancrase, UFC, Pride, Shooto and Belator theres also various videos of different martial artists fighting since the 50s but its also lost media 😢

As a history buff and giant mma fan, I really wish all the press conferences and weigh in events that were filmed and televised were available for consumption. I know all the newer ones post ufc 200 or so are, but there's all these clips from press conferences in the early to mid 2000s I randomly see but can't find the full broadcast on. Like the press conference where Ken Shamrock says I will beat you into the living death to Tito or the press conference of when Dana bought pride fc etc.
