This is definitely the best step-by-step video for how to do this. It took me a bit longer than it should have, but with my hubby and son's help, we got it done. The hardest part is those damn 7 screws that are so hard to get at! And, of course, we kept dropping the c clamps. LOL. But thank you! Very thorough and well presented! We were definitely able to follow every step.
Best Cricut roller fix video I found!! I was able to fix my machine and learned the name of a few tools on the way!! So ridiculous that Cricut has the first part superglued!! Shame on them. Thank you. I have posted a link to an another video where a kind person explained the steps without showing the inside.
Thank you so much for making this video. I struggled with trying to decide to spend another $300 for a brand new maker. After watching your video I was able to fix the rubber rollers myself and it was not hard as I thought it would be. It took me 40 mins from start to finish, the 7 screws were the hardest to remove and put back in. I saved money and repaired a minor fix with little cost. Thanks Again!!
This is amazing! So glad I can pay $11 for replacement wheels rather than buying an entirely new machine and chucking the one I have in the landfill. A little annoyed that Cricut doesn't offer repair services...profit over the planet : ( Thank goodness for TH-cam and people who aren't afraid to take things apart!
I was thinking the same thing. Every product that does not offer life time waranty, or at least some sort of repair service should not be allowed to operate as a business.
Seriously the best video on how to do this. My husband was terrified to take the machine and change the rollers. He was sweating buckets over it. Thanks to you my cricut is working good as new! Thank you!!!
Literally came across this and had it done in 35 mins. Needed something fast cs I had work to do and this video was it for me after going through so many other videos before!
Thanks so much for posting this -- you saved my Cricut from the trash. Took me just under two hours, including looking for suitable tools... I didn't have a small-enough ratchet so I wound up using a 1/4" box wrench to turn a Phillips bit. Man, this machine was not designed to be serviced, especially by somebody with large hands! But I'm back up and running here. Much appreciated!
Thank you for this video! After watching it a few times I was able to knock it out in about 30 minutes! I used a finger ratchet for the screws under the top plate. I was however able to push the new rubber pieces on without boiling them. It was a bit of a fight but not to bad. It works perfect again. I’ve taken apart a lot of stuff which helped with the process
Thank you for this video. I was going to buy a refurbished one, but my boyfriend said no this can be fixed. He watched your vid and my machine works great! It really wasn't that difficult to do.
If you need to fix quickly and don't have time to wait for amazon rollers, OMG THIS WORKS!! Go to any auto parts store, get 5/16 fuel line tubing ($3.50) cut off your bad rollers with scissors, use bad one to measure and cut same size from fuel line. Cut through the middle and wrap around the metal bar where the roller was, pushing load until it wraps around. Mine did not close all the way, but it still worked just fine! I later cut a piece of painters tape to size and wrapped that around also. I also pushed one white plastic roller all the way over against the tubing. It was going to be a temporary fix but is still going strong and since I still have 10" of fuel line left I think I will just leave it 'and replace if it fails.
Well, out of all the videos I've seen on this, yours is the most calm and orderly. It gives me hope lol! I ordered some new rollers and will give it a go along with your video. Thank you so much for doing this! Please wish me peace and calm as I work on this machine. 🙏 😅
Hands down the easiest to follow. You didn’t do a lot of extra like some people. I was able to follow along and had it changed in under an hour. Thank you!!!
Hi. I followed your instructions and thanks for making it easy to fix. Thank you a million. I changed the rollers and now my cricut is working again. You're the best. I prayed before and during the entire video. All the praise and glory to my God.
THANK YOU! This is the BEST video I have seen for replacing the rollers. you are so helpful. I was successful on the first try. It did take 3 hours... I am posting your video on the Cricut group I belong to. Hope that helps you.
Thanks so much I am glad is was a helpful video I tried to make it as clear as I could, I see some spots I could have done better... Appreciate the support!!!
Used your video to repair our Cricut, huge thanks! Saved us 250 bucks! Used pliers to pull the bar gently from the right side when my fanagling skills failed me 🙂
Thank you vey much for this simple walk thru. Just replaced my rollers and reassembled the unit. Everything appears to be functioning properly! Excellent process if you take your time and follow the steps.
Oh my goodness! I spent so much time trying to repair this before I saw your video. Thank you so much for a great step by step tutorial on doing this! I was able to repair the pressure rollers and get back to doing the fun stuff!
This video helped me a ton!! Got my machine working again after months and it wasn’t that hard to do, took like an hour! The only thing is now the white rollers are leaving marks on my materials due to the rollers not being as thick as the rubber ones 😢 so I’m trying to figure out a hack for that.
I tried to do this last year using another video and gave up after tearing the machine completely apart and still couldn't get the roller rod out. Your video made it much simpler and easy. Thank you
Thank you so much! Video was super easy to follow and a success! The kit I ordered on Amazon has little metal clips that go on either side of the rollers to help keep them in place. Hopefully it's a long time before they need replaced again. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video! I thought my maker was a goner & no good anymore after the rollers started shifting. Glad I seen this video & can say I’m relieved that I don’t have to buy a new machine. 😅 just ordered the parts and looking forward to be able to use my cricut maker again.
Thank you so much for this guide, it is incredibly helpful. I did want to note one thing that you might not have mentioned unless I missed it, there are three more screws you need to remove to take the top off. I just dont want anyone to try and force it thinking maybe it might be pop tabs and break their machine. there are the four screws in the back and the three screws in the front. for me totaling 7 screws. ANYONE WHO READS THIS, CHECK FOR SCREWS IF IT DOESN"T PULL UP EASILY. God bless
Awesome glad it was helpful thanks for supporting the channel. the 7 screws that are under inside? yes I did say there were 7 screws in the video but thanks for making sure it's clear!
Thank you so much for creating this video!!!! I love how organized you are and how you explained clear details. I was able to successfully change my Rubber Rollers with your detailed guidance! 😊
You are amazing! Thank you so much for explaining so clearly and calmly how to fix the rubber wheels issue on the Cricut Maker. I had to order the rollers twice since my puppy ate the first set, LOL. The hardest part were the C clips. If it weren't for the difficulty getting those back on, this would have been pretty quick. Maybe you know: What is that sticky stuff on the left hand side? Ew, kept getting that all over myself! So glad to find your video so I could fix this instead of having to spend a fortune on a new machine (which probably wouldn't have happened). Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks! No I don't have an affiliate link set up. I don't have enough traffic through my account for anything like that but thanks for thinking about it. Just come back to my channel sometime and check out what I have been up to :). Next week I will be live streaming some art planning on doing it Dec 27 & 28th.
Thanks for this video. Currently watching and pausing as I attempt to fix my rollers. The screws are so hard to get out but I refuse to give up and purchase a new one at this moment. Thanks again for this step-by step video.
Had to return and let you know it worked out in my favor and I am back up and printing - made my son a tumbler to see how it would print. Thank you soooooo much for this video!!!! 🙌🏾
Seriously, just to change the small rubber rollers you have to disassemble all maker? Why did they make it so hard? Cricut should have some kind of service to fix stuff like that. Yo buy expensive device and you can’t use it if your rollers get worn out. Such a shame. I’m so disappointed. I don’t have any skills to do it myself.
Thank you so much for the in-depth video! We were able to replace the rollers (from Amazon) and fix my 4 year old Cricut Maker with "ease"! Extremely helpful and appreciative. Figured that we might as well try doing it ourselves instead of spending more money to have it repaired or worse buy a new one! We followed through with your steps and was able to put it most of it back together. We stopped before putting the lid/cover on to double check that the machine would work still, and it did! The 7 screws are definitely awful to get to and does take a bit of patience. I do have a question though, does it matter whether we put all 7 screws (the annoying ones) back in or do you think we can make do with 3 of them (the ones towards the center)?
glad it was helpful. I would recommend replacing all screws. the machine jerks a lot and things could misalign over time. Thanks for supporting the channel.
Thanks for such a detailed video. Stripped it down (challenging) and replaced the rollers then carefully put it back together but I’m noticing a couple of perforated vertical lines through every thing I print and the same corroded roller seems to be wearing down again. 🥴 Don’t know why but I will dismantle it again and give it another go. I was so proud to have tackled it the first time. Here I go again!
The perforated lines are from the white rings on the bar they can be slid around the bar so the perforations don’t intersect with anything important in your work. Thanks for supporting the channel. Good luck.
Ahhh didn’t think of that! You’re right but when I move them I can see the imprint of where they were so is it possible that the bar is maybe pressing too hard? Just asking because now that I’m an “expert”🤣 in dismantling maybe I should try and loosen it. Thank you for your help/advice. Don’t think I could have solved that issue on my own. Much appreciated!
I had to replace the rubber and this video was so helpful, thank you! Only issue I have now is that my lid won’t close. Any suggestions on how to fix that?
Which lid the top one or the front one? when I put mine back together the front one would not close the spring was not springing properly to keep it closed but eventurally it started to work. if it's the top one could the top case not be fully put back correctly like the slots in the back that I showed in the video did not get lined up correctly? hope you can figure it out. without seeing it it's impossible for me to know what's happening. Thanks for supporting the channel.
This was a great video to fix these roller wheels. Only thing is the C-clips can be tricky and you need nimble fingers for those 7 screws on the top. And there was some super sticky goo near the motor, I kept getting all over my fingers and tools.
Good morning, thank you very much. I watched your video, I followed all the steps. I looked at your manipulations because, being French, I could not understand what you were explaining. I thought I had repaired my machine because I had no problem during disassembly and assembly but since the changes, my machine no longer takes the belts. The bar on which I changed the rubbers remains fixed. I tried to redo everything but nothing worked. Do you have an idea to help me 😁 Thanks to you
Thanks for supporting the channel I appreciate it. Unfortunately it's unclear to me what your issue is. The bar is not spinning? If that is what is happening sounds like you might have forgot to re attach the springs so there is pressure against the bottom rollers. I hope you figure out what the issue is.
Thanks, my fix was successful, i got my rubber rings and c clips (to hold them on the rod) from Ali Express - cheap as. I found that the star screwdriver was a T8 not 9. the biggest problem i had was losing the screws and clips pinging off. Thanks for this i wouldn't have been able to fix it without this video.
This video is great!! but I lost one of the c-clamps from the end of the rod. If it fell into the machine I think and can not find it. Do you know where I order a new c clamp? Again thank you for the video
@@theZimvideo I was able to find them at Lowes and Fleet Farm. Just in case anyone asks. I purchased 2 just in case... LOL and I needed it! The E clips are slippery little buggers! Again Thank you
I can honestly say that I dreaded this. But I figured I at least had to try. I followed the video, paused as i went. Took pics as I went and lines up all the parts in the order I took them off. I sweated through my clothes with dread.....but I did it!!! I bought the rollers that came with screw drivers and the only other tool was a butter knife and a pair of pliers to hold the c clamps when putting them back in. Trust me, if I can do it, so can you!
This is about to be a long comment but hopefully not lol.l Thank you SO MUCH for explaining it so well OMG!!. BUT the little metal piece that you click off right before removing the rollers OMG GUYS do NOT let that piece fall under . I tried putting it back on at the end and it fell into that little space under the wheel but under the entire cricut and I struggled for a good hour attempting to put it back on due to that. My cricut had this weird goo stuff on a gear I kept touching and it was a mess.l also suggest to buy the kit on amazon with the tools.I went to walmart and attempted to buy the star piece and it didn't come in the bit set I got =( . Overall though this tutorial helped alot and I was able to replace my rollers. OH!!! Life hack! If you can't seem to find the holes to screw the top back on use your phone front camera to see under that hood. It helped me put them in faster while holding that tiny screw lol. Thanks again !!
it was actually a gift it's and adjustable wrench. I imagine the edge of a table could also work. Thanks for checking out the video apprecaite it. @@Westsidebeard
I really appreciate this video. Thank you!! However, I am having a tough time getting the 1st c clip back on 😔 I wish you would have shown how to this on the motor side.
@@theZimvideo I eventually got it after maybe a dozen attempts. Getting the springs back in were also really difficult. I almost lost an eye! I hope I never have to do that again 😁
I did everything, got everything put back together well. It pulls the mat in great but as soon as it’s about to cut, the part that cuts goes all the way to the right as if it gets stuck there and then the light starts flashing purple and I get a critical error -45, 85. Tried updating the firmware but nothing works, still does the same thing
hey thanks for supporting the channel. Unfortunately I only know how to fix the rollers I don't know what might be the problem you are having. You might post your issue on a facebook cricut group or something like that and see if they can help. Good luck sorry you continue to have issues with your cricut.
I am not sure how to help. do you have any small needle nose pliers? that might be what you need to hold and press it back into place easily. good luck and thanks for supporting the video!
Thanks for supporting the channel. I only have the maker so I don’t know. Try it out and see if it matches up. It might be close enough and you can figure out the difference on your own. Let us know if it works. Or maybe someone in the comments can let you know.
Someone else commented I think you can get them at home depot. don't loose both bring the one you have in and ask a staff member. Good luck. Thanks for supporting the channel!
Maybe a bit to late to ask but will this work for cricut air explorer 2… I already started taking it apart using some of your video. I can’t get the bar out it’s stuck in the right side… c clamp is off
The right side of the form urs vs mines is a tad bit different. You unplugged the motor thingy from the right side but didn’t remove it… neither did I… butttt… now the left side where u moved the c clamp form the bar behind the white gear…. (Then u went back to the right side and took that “entire piece off we could have done that earlier “in the video) that the c clamp held back…”😢 it came off in my left side but won’t come off my right side because of the motor🤔. Which I believe is causing my bar to be stuck
I am having a hard time getting the c clamp things off? I used a small flat head, needle nose tweezers and needle nose pliers. It's really greasy. Could that be a reason?
Thank you just did this while holding a toddler!!!!! Hence took me over an hour leaving it and coming back to it. However I don’t plan on doing this again.
Just did this after buying a kit on Amazon. Broke the plastic strip that holds the lid down. It was seriously crazy glued to the point that I had to break it in order to get it off. It’s just an aesthetic part don’t really know if it has a function other than covering the screws that hold the lid to the machine but it just looks sooo bad and I’m pissed cause I spent $300 plus dollars on this crap machine. My new rollers are on but I bent the c clip to where it’s not going back on. Have to wait to receive my c clips from Amazon in order to complete this. Don’t know if this will work or ultimately break my machine. But it was worth a try before throwing this crap product out. Cricut needs to offer servicing for a design defect that they are fully aware of. Shame on you cricut. I will never buy one of these cricut machines ever again. Thank you for posting this instructional video. It was the stillest best shot best instructions video I could find on you tube about this matter. Thanks again.
It was an adjustable socket wrench. But you can just use a table or countertop that has right angles and press them on that way. Thanks for watching the video appreciate the support.
Thanks for supporting the video and the channel. Yeah I mentioned that they are linked in the description of the video. I got them off Amazon. Good luck!
Hey thanks for checking the video and leaving the comment. I unfortunately don't know I suppose if you brought the other one to a local hardware store they might be able to help you. I had another viewer comment that they left one off and it seems to still work ok... Good luck I hope you find the information you need.
😢😢😢..I can't get the cover off... maker 3, I can only find 4 screws on the upper inside part.. the cover is loose at the bottoms and sides, but won't let go in the center, how hard did you have to fight the plastic?
I think you are missing 3 screws they are patterned like a zig zag. I am guessing you are not finding the 3 that are closest ou the front of the machine. if you have a small mirror use it to look under the space more to see what you might be missing. Good luck.
@theZimvideo (hope I tagged you with that) on another video the guy ended up dropping the c clamp on the left side when putting it back on which made for further disassembly on his cricut to retrieve it. I was hoping your video would show how you put the c clamp back on, especially since it's such a tight area to work in but you only showed the right side of reassembling the machine. Any chance you can show a short clip of the left side reassembly?
Thanks for supporting the channel. Unfortunately I did not record the left side I was hoping it was implied by the right side since the c-clamp is the same process on both sides. Sorry
the old ones or new ones? The new ones should be tight to the metal bar and only roll with the metal bar during the action of the machine. Thanks for checking out the video appreciate the support!
@@theZimvideo thank you for your reply. I was asking about the new ones. We just put on a different brand from the one you used. They spin freely when in the proper position. Is your maker the original maker or is it a maker 2 or 3?

glad it was helpful.
@@wubyduby you kind of want it to press hard so it does not slip while cutting. Mine has the perforations too.
Thank you for making this video! My rollers needed to be replaced so I followed your video and did it today. Great instructions.
Awesome glad it worked out. And thanks for supporting the channel.
By far, it is the easiest video to follow. It worked for me. Thanks
Awesome glad it was helpful. Thanks for support the video!!!
Thank you so much for this detailed video ... Best I have seen so far. Now I will try to fix mine, just ordered the rollers.
Great!!! Thanks for supporting my channel! Appreciate it!
I’m about to attempt this tonight! Thank you for this detailed video!
You got this!
This was a great video to fix these roller wheels. Only thing is the C-clips can be tricky and you need nimble fingers for those 7 screws on the top. And there was some super sticky goo near the motor, I kept getting all over my fingers and tools.
Thanks for the support. Yeah I get a lot of comments about the c clips.
Thank you for your help. I followed the video step by step, and my maker is repaired.
Awesome glad it helped! Thanks for supporting the channel!
Thank you so much for making this video so clear on every step and giving me the confidence to fix my rubber ring👍👍👍
Great glad it’s going to be helpful!!!!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for supporting the channel 🤩
Any chance you can post a link to where u got the c clips? My just flew into oblivion and I’m thinking buying new will be faster than finding it.
@@ThymewithTheron I did not lose my c-clips so I didn't have to buy them again. You can try a hardware store?? good luck.
Great video. Note: lid screws will come out with T8 torx bit. Thanks
Thanks and thanks for the tips! :)
What a great video! Thanks for sharing! My husband only had to help me finagle the roller bar out.
Thanks for supporting the channel. Glad it worked out!
Thanks for the video! It was very helpful. After putting everything back together the lights on my cricut aren’t working. It turns on, but no lights.
Thanks for supporting the channel. Unfortunately I don't know how to diagnose or troubleshoot your lights issue. I hope you're able to figure it out.
Did you remember to plug your chip back in on the bottom of the cover piece? 🙂 It connects the buttons that light up to power.
This video is great!! but I lost one of the c-clamps from the end of the rod. If it fell into the machine I think and can not find it. Do you know where I order a new c clamp? Again thank you for the video
Thanks for supporting the video. I don’t know where you can get a c clip. You might try a hardware store. Good luck.
@@theZimvideo I was able to find them at Lowes and Fleet Farm. Just in case anyone asks. I purchased 2 just in case... LOL and I needed it! The E clips are slippery little buggers! Again Thank you
@@kimshirek4031 good to know thanks
I can honestly say that I dreaded this. But I figured I at least had to try. I followed the video, paused as i went. Took pics as I went and lines up all the parts in the order I took them off. I sweated through my clothes with dread.....but I did it!!! I bought the rollers that came with screw drivers and the only other tool was a butter knife and a pair of pliers to hold the c clamps when putting them back in. Trust me, if I can do it, so can you!
Awesome! Thanks for supporting the channel.
Yay it worked! Thank you so much. I never would have been able to figure that out on my own.
Awesome glad it worked out thanks for supporting the channel!!! :)
Thank you so much! I was able to replace my rollers because of your video!
Awesome glad it was helpful. Thanks for supporting the channel.
Thank you so much for this video. hands down the best step-by-step video.
Awesome glad it was helpful! Thanks for the support!
Great video. I appreciate that you can see each step as you do it.
Thanks glad it’s clear.
Thanks for the additional tips! Thanks for supporting the video I appreciate it!
How did you get the c clips out?? Lost both in there 😢
I used this video to replace the rollers on my Cricut Maker. Thank you!
So glad it was helpful! Saw your super thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you, I am sure your video will help my husband take care of my Circuit Maker once the new rollers are delivered
Awesome glad you found the video!!!
Where did you find that tool to put the rubber rollers on?
it was actually a gift it's and adjustable wrench. I imagine the edge of a table could also work. Thanks for checking out the video apprecaite it. @@Westsidebeard

How did you put the c clap back on?
patience
I really appreciate this video. Thank you!!
However, I am having a tough time getting the 1st c clip back on 😔 I wish you would have shown how to this on the motor side.
Try using needle nose pliers to hold a press it into place. Thanks for supporting the video glad it’s helping.
@@theZimvideo I eventually got it after maybe a dozen attempts. Getting the springs back in were also really difficult. I almost lost an eye! I hope I never have to do that again 😁
@@powered77 I'm glad you got it back together and with both eyes intact!
I am having trouble getting the c clamps back on. Any advice?
I am not sure how to help. do you have any small needle nose pliers? that might be what you need to hold and press it back into place easily. good luck and thanks for supporting the video!
What size was the tension spring? For you recall? The link brings you to the listing but the springs in the default listing photo look a bit smaller
These are the ones I got 0.8x6x25mm hope that helps and thanks for watching the video.
Great video, repair worked with no issue, just be patient, Cricut working like new!!

It’s the same process for cricut explore 2?
Thanks for supporting the channel. I only have the maker so I don’t know. Try it out and see if it matches up. It might be close enough and you can figure out the difference on your own. Let us know if it works. Or maybe someone in the comments can let you know.
What happens if I lose one of the little c clamps that holds the roller bar into place? And do you know where I can find a replacement?
Someone else commented I think you can get them at home depot. don't loose both bring the one you have in and ask a staff member. Good luck. Thanks for supporting the channel!
Check a hardware store like home depot or lowes
How did you heat up the roller part?
I boiled them. Thanks for checking out the video and supporting the channel I appreciate it! :)
I've gotten to the part where I'm finagling the bar out, and it is stuck. Any other tips or tricks?
Be aggressive with it. Thanks for supporting the channel good luck!
Unfortunately I only have the cricut in the video and I’m a very visual learner. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Good luck I hope you figure it out.
I am having a hard time getting the c clamp things off? I used a small flat head, needle nose tweezers and needle nose pliers. It's really greasy. Could that be a reason?
Honestly I couldn’t tell you. I used a small flathead screwdriver to pop mine out. Good luck and thanks for supporting the channel.
Thank you just did this while holding a toddler!!!!! Hence took me over an hour leaving it and coming back to it. However I don’t plan on doing this again.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful! Thanks for supporting the channel.
Glad it was helpful and thanks for the support!
What is the tool you use to install the rubber wheel on the bar?
It was an adjustable socket wrench. But you can just use a table or countertop that has right angles and press them on that way. Thanks for watching the video appreciate the support.
Loved your video. I wish I had the patience to do mine.
Thanks! Yeah I thought I didn't have the patience for it either but managed to just hunker down and get it done. Just take it one step at a time.
Great step by step instructions!
Thanks for supporting the channel I appreciate it! Glad it helped!
You didn't say where you get the rubber grommets, where did you purchase them?
Thanks for supporting the video and the channel. Yeah I mentioned that they are linked in the description of the video. I got them off Amazon. Good luck!

What size is the phillips socket bit to take the 7 scews out of the inside of the unit?
I am not sure it was a pretty standard size. Thanks for checking out the video hope it was helpful and thanks for supporting the channel.
@theZimvideo thanks! Also, what is the name of the gap tool that you used to get the 2 new rubber rollers in place on the rod?
@@truthknowledgeseeker it was an adjustable socket wrench. You can use anything even the edge of a table it's it a good sharp 90 degrees.
Lost one of my c clamps. Is their another name or a replacement link?
Hey thanks for checking the video and leaving the comment. I unfortunately don't know I suppose if you brought the other one to a local hardware store they might be able to help you. I had another viewer comment that they left one off and it seems to still work ok... Good luck I hope you find the information you need.
How long did you boil the new rollers for?
Not long I just brought it to a boil and took them out. Thanks for watching the video hope it helps.
Good luck.
yes!! just found them... thank you so much for this video... ❤❤❤
What size springs?
0.8x6x25mm thanks!
Thank you for video took us a while but yeah we got there. New rollers
Glad it helped. Thanks for supporting the channel I appreciate it.
Sorry
Where did you get the new springs
Amazon the link is in the description of the video. Thanks for the support!

Did the rollers spin when in the correct position?
the old ones or new ones? The new ones should be tight to the metal bar and only roll with the metal bar during the action of the machine. Thanks for checking out the video appreciate the support!
@@theZimvideo thank you for your reply. I was asking about the new ones. We just put on a different brand from the one you used. They spin freely when in the proper position. Is your maker the original maker or is it a maker 2 or 3?
