    In my EU version I had to cut in order to make this mod, but there is a much difference! It was worth it.

    Use a cheap decat-pipe (black-widow: 200$): it makes the stockexhaust sound really amazing! The black-widow pipe has a smaller inner-diameter as the stockpipe, so you may not need a remap, as it did not improve power. It just looks and sounds much better!

      ShaveDaWhales I ended up cutting both tubes down all the way sounds so much better. I feels a little more toque at the low end, haven’t taken it out on the highway yet to see the difference there. But so far I like it so much better.

    like the sound, but cant do this, as I ride in forrests etc and you have to have a spark arrestor to prevent fires, etc. On the road probably ok, but off road, .. wonder if the spark arrestors were lengthened if it would make a better sound, less reistance to the exhaust as there is a bigger surface area to get the gasses through? any At riders who may have done this

    Scrap the entire exhaust, cat, headers, all of it. Get the DANMOTO GP system. it has the O2 sensor threaded insert. You will love the sound, performance, everything. I'm not plugging an ad, I'm a consumer. I found one online and took a chance on it. Best exhaust system I've ever had.

    I was wondering, when removed, if the engine would run leaner to compensate for this and thus cause engine damage? I'm not sure how an Africa Twin would react to this change though? Would have to look at its wiring diagram to work it out.

      Mine too in Thailand BUT if you drill a hole, mine is 19mm in the end plate where the two exhaust pipes come out. Drill about halfway between them and off to the outside a bit sounds just right, throaty but not too loud. I also made a plate with two bolts and captive nuts so I can close it off in 5 min if required .

    • @julien-bld
      @julien-bld 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hello@@Disting2 , I am in France and the exhaust is also welded. If it's possible...Could you somehow provide me with photos of your exhaust? thanks

    • @deonnimb9505
      @deonnimb9505 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I cut mine all along the rear seam, cut the two tubes as short as I could and then a few 10mm holes in the visible baffle plate that I could reach. I then took the silencer to an exhaust shop who rewelded the two bits together(stainless welding), put it back on the bike and there is only a very small increase in sound. The fit is perfect and no leaks.

    I dont know what Kansas or anywhere else is like but In the past at least a LOT of forest ranger types around here? They like to keep a rod handy which they like to shove up your hole if things look or sound suspicious ....In their defense California is a tender box for fire so that is probably at least some of the motivation ...another will be that certain among them probably just hate motorcycles (and off roadish vehicles in general) driving around in "their" jurisdiction you know way more partial to the hiker types ....anyway just want readers to consider THAT possibility ....which maybe if it looks and sound stock enough? 3 out of four rangers probably would not even bother ....but that other one out of 4 ranger ? The one who religiously shoves their little stick up EVERY exhaust orifice?....THAT could be a bad day for having done such a seemingly minor little mod....no? What is the fine? Anyone know? Anyone ever have their vehicle towed for lack of spark arrestor? ....Many years ago in the canyons of los angeles county the chp would actually bring a truck with a great big ass flat bed trailer and flag down EVERY motorcycle with an illegal exhaust and take the bikes ....ALL of em with aftermarket exhaust I believe ....that was more about noise than anything else ...a bunch of rich folks and celebrity types in very high priced canyon homes just got sick of the noise every weekend and demanded that law enforcement did something ....THAT was their answer Somehow I escaped every one of those but can you imagine the expense and hassle! Have to call a cab or friend to come get you and then go the next week and pay all the towing and impound fees not to mention a fine, not to mention having to bolt the stock set up back on take it to marshal to get it signed off etc....pain in the ASS....makes you start loving your stock exhaust more and more
