    To be fair to the fitter he was first class, worked with you accepting your attachment to rinky and the things you liked and very objectively showed you what the titleist could offer. A class act.

    I bought my 718 AP2's last fall when they came out. But I got fit by Titleist at my regional center, and it has been the BIGGEST and BEST thing I have ever done to improve my game. The R+D they put into their clubs and then execute that by fitting it to the player is unsurpassed. And for the same reason, I watch you is that the R+D you have put into your teaching. Having the right tools in your hands, when you begin lessons or even are just practicing on your own, will develop the feel and touch that we all need in our game to improve and make the shots. Mark Crossfield and Titleist to me are a perfect match, please keep up the great work!

    Very cool that Titleist did not whine, or complain, or throw a fuss at you keeping rinky. They simply stepped up to the plate and said we can provide the same or better, and here it is for you.

    I think this just shows how you are helping us lot ask the right questions when we get fitted. I recall my 1st fitting 15 odd years ago & looking back I was being fitted by a sales person & I had very little input & certainly wasn't asked any relevant questions, These days when I go for a fit I am armed with so much more knowledge and understanding of what I want from the fitting session. Great work!

    Thanks Mark, you're the only TH-cam golfer that gets hybrids!
    Others do their reviews, tell us they don't play them and how they'll pull them and then finish the review with a stock 'if you struggle with long irons then this might be for you' line.
    I play hybrids and love them not only because they suit my slower swing speed but because they're so versatile.

    • @jamesfrew6
      @jamesfrew6 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      exactly. i had a similar negative attitude towards them as they werent around when i first played golf and im not too bad with long irons. now i have a 4 hybrid and a 2 iron in my bag. i can do so much more with a rinky than i can with a 4 iron and i can still pat a 2 iron down the middle of a fairway if needed.

    Genuinly one of the most interesting videos you have shared. It shows that the relationship you have with your club(s) and the way you visualise your shots have so much influence over your game. As a mid to high handicapper I try to visualise so much and feel the shape and shot to improve, to quieten down all the noise about ball position, grip strength, club path etc.

      Steve Watson Not likely Mark would trash Titleist is it. He is paid to market their clubs and he does a good job of it. I can see replacing Titleist with any other major club brand and have similar feel good episodes.

    imho - great series of videos but this one by far the best tutorial on what a person can do with a club who has the knowledge of what can be done AND what a good fitter can do to help match what you want a club to do. it really does come back to player's ability in using the club and not so much the hype of what a club can do in the hands of the right player. 'does that make sense?' thanks again Mark. wish I could have had this info 60 years ago. might have kept me playing golf through my 30's and 40's rather than getting frustrated, stopping and waiting till I was 50 to start again.

  • @dondasher58
    @dondasher58 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love your comment about you “thinking of your shot” as opposed to just letting him control your shots. It’s right in line with your approach to teaching and I love it. Seems like he was taking his common ( not saying anything bad about the man) approach of shaft, different heads and physics approach but he soon learned you approach things in a more personal approach.....not necessarily by the book. My best go to club is my used Adams 4 hybrid from the bargain bin at a local golf shop. Senior shaft, inexpensive and a little beat up looking but man it’s my 165-180 club depending on what I need. 👍🏻

    I've resisted the hybrid for the longest. They just never looked right and would go too high and too left. After watching this video and countless others, I broke down and got a 21 degree Titleist 818 H2 with the Even Flow shaft to replace my T-MB 4 iron and get better gapping between it and my trusty old 980F 5 wood. At the fitting, I compared the H2 to a T-MB 3 iron and was getting the 190-200 yard numbers I was looking for on the monitor and felt like I was hitting it good. I put it in the bag this weekend and damn if this thing isn't flying as far and better than my 5 wood, 200-215 carry numbers! This hybrid is unbelievable! The 5 wood is gone and the 4 iron stays. Still have that gap. Gonna have to learn to hit that 190-195 green finder or get me a Titleist Rinky Dinks! Cheers Bruh!

    Mark,
    Loving the content. The sign-up with Titleist is GOLD.
    Not blowing smoke up your arse, but I'm sitting here in Italy (I'm the guy who nearly stalked you at Borromees), trying to watch TW's comeback at the Valspar ... and getting hopelessly sidetracked by your vids.
    (Getting Custom Fit at Kings Acre 18mo ago - Titleist - certainly helps)
    You're nailing the vlogging game ... and the interaction with TPI / Tour Pros is keeping most of us away from the same-old-same-old, syrupy-sweet PGA Tour guff (i.e, as you alluded to, any "TV analysis" only really shows just what has gone "wrong").
    Keep it going!
    I second the call for having an analysis of RCB's swing (would LOVE to know IF there are any "gremlins" there) ...
    And would also ask you to do a separate feature on "gaming a rinky" ...
    I.E. as a single-figure handicap player, custom-fit told me to drop my 3-4 irons ... The positives of doing so FAR outweigh the negatives - but I can't knock down a shot or keep a rinky "low" to save my life ... Frustrating when in the trees (on occasion).
    All the best.

  • @nickfernley9411
    @nickfernley9411 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Whether or not Rinky gets replaced is irrelevant. What this video shows is how a custom fitting helps improve your game, or at the very least challenges what you know, and that is good for your game. [edit] if I may you have to take your hat off to Titleist to put themselves out on a limb here. It says a lot about a manufacturer who are willing to put it on the line and back their product and expertise. My hat off to you fellas.

    I just got fit into the exact same setup on Friday - on kidding. I went with the 21 Degree knocked up to 22 with shaft in Neutral setting (D4). I also had SureFit set to Fade and I use it exactly how you do - can fade it 175 out of trouble if needed but want to be able to hit it high into the green at 195-200 carry rolling to 210 max without it going left - my driver swing speed is 103 so we are very similar. I also had the 19 Degree Fit for my 220-225 carry club, this time knocked down to 18 (D1) and SureFit set to Draw as I want this as my chaser / Driving Iron type club - great combo.

    Don't often/ever comment on videos.. but Mark, you keep delivering the goods so I had to comment.. seriously interesting video with functional information to help average golfers like myself understand what happens in a "fitting" situation.. I bet any money that the fitter there didn't expect you to have the confidence or the intimate knowledge of your own game to interject at any point.. for an average golfer it seems like a fitting falls into the category of the "blind leading the blind".. the video spelled out that you really need an intimate knowledge of your own game to appreciate the benefit of a club fitting.. I personally don't have the confidence in my swing or my own game in general to justify paying for a full fitting, I'll just keep buying off the rack til I start to understand my weaknesses and strengths

Hmm, I'm here is San Diego, perhaps will give the Titleist a try! Well with my coach of course.

    Very interesting vid. I started playing the 917F3 last year instead of my older 915FD. Where I loved the 915FD but the random over draw/hook when sometimes going to hard off a tee. The 917F3 helped calm that shot down a bit the weight in the toe (same exact shaft in both models) My miss was still a draw but it was calmed down a bit.

    This is a fantastic display of how a fitting should go. “Let’s not ring the bell at the county fair.” Great line and great idea. This is why the “fitters” at most retail stores will just try and point out and sell off of yards gained and not gap filling. They also would NEVER ask you to max out to a number and then finesse one 25yards less. Great video great concepts #goodbyerinks

    Look forward to these everyday. Friday night, Indian and a beer at the ready, and Mark Crossfield Golf Entertainment 😁. Only golf channel I watch really, apart from BIG Oggie Golf. People who say mark don't know what his talking about on some channels, makes me laugh.. Mark's so knowledgeable!!! Looking forward to the Golf course vids with Mark, Coach, Rory, and Get up Grandad Dan!! ⛳

    Great video. Loved the fitter's knowledge and how he worked with you to create a competitor for Rinky.

    What a top guy this is to have in your corner. Not sure he will succeed in replacing rinky dinks but man he gave it a good shot.

    Best advert for custom fit ever. That fitter should be a diplomat. He shows that with the right shaft and set up you don't need to manipulate the wrong shaft to keep straight as Mark has been doing to avoid the miss left. Just a pity he couldn't of admitted he was wrong at the end. That fitter must have drawn blood biting his lip. FitterT@Ag

    Love this video. I have the same issue with my 22 degree hybrid. I tend to have issues with over-drawing/hooking shots when I try to max distance. I might possibly try to find a hybrid that is adjustable so I can put some weight in the toe to take out that shot like you did in this video. Great content! Keep up the good work!

    That was an excellent fitting! The fittier had to really work to hit something close to your rinky dink! I have a rinky dink also and I dont want to get rid of it. However if the Titleist H1 with a $$ upgraded shaft doesn't get close enough I dont think it could ever be replaced. Keep Rinky dink in the closet for at least 10 rounds and if you cant pull off those shots bring it back. Thank you for sharing!

    Great vid. While I've never named any of my clubs, I also have a club that must be Rinky Dink's orphaned, illegitimate half-brother. Mine's a 22deg, steel shafted hybrid from a now-defunct clubmaking component brand and it's been in the bag longer than any other club (15yrs? Maybe more?). It got so beat up that I just went ahead and stripped the remaining paint and now it's just naked metal. I also use it for all shots between 180-205, and your description of "I think of it as a wedge" is exactly how I've always used mine - but I guess I never said that out loud to anyone until now. I love this club, but on those times I do miss with it, it is always a running hook. I try to put a "fade" swing on it 95% of the time. Rinky forever!

    As much as rinky is special to everyone, there was a good gain in your favour. Combine that with the CUSTOM SHOP!!!!! What chance does coach have 😂😂
