Thanks for the review- much appreciated! It is really helpful to give my friends a primer on a game before I can explain the rules in person myself.

At 4:42 you explained what rule I came here to clarify. Thanks. I know this video has been out for a couple years, but its appreciated. Incidentally, the rulebook does not explain this very well. It infers that you can attack a vacant area and you still have to discard, then it also sais you can only have one piece in your area, so that confused the crud out of me. So, Germans can build and army on first turn and put it in Belgium which is vacant, without having to attack it, correct? Thanks again!

I believe so. You don't actually move your pieces as such. You just expand out fro. A current piece.
You could still call this attacking/invading. Yes it's quite abstract.

So, during the play stage. Germany uses a Land Battle card against the enemy. The enemy can respond with a Prepared Card, right?

Sorry I did not notice your question sooner. But yes you can. Prepared cards are the secret gotchas in the game

I'll have to check.. ..but I think not.
It's been way too long since we played this.

@@antiussentiment I don't think so either. Even though the rules are nicely written, there are a few vague areas. I have had this game sitting on my shelf for years, and have never played it til now. Same with WW2 version. So many good games have fallen into oblivion these days ( so many titles are released every year )
