Interesting note. Actually, two rail lines crossed where you were standing at 08:21. And You are facing north on the Santa Fe Paris Branch. Part of the Gulf Coast and Santa Fe Dallas subdivision (1886). As evidenced by the date on a brick culvert north of town. It was Later sold to the Kiamichi Railroad subsidiary Chaparral railroad in 1993. Chaparral operated the line from 1993 to 1994. The line that passed the Onion shed was the MKT (Missouri Kansas Texas) and it crossed the Santa’s Fe roughly where you were standing. Abandoned from Farmersville to McKinney in 1940. To the east, and south of the park is remaining track from both railroads that are now owned by the Kansas City Southern and Is still in use today. The Santa Fe station is gone. The foundation was still there not long ago, but was removed by KCS to relocate the tracks to the west by roughly 50 feet due to two new railroad bridges constructed over hwy 380.
