1. EA Canada developed the PC version of Porsche Unleashed, It's Eden Games (Devs of Test Drive Unlimited 1 & 2) who developed the PS1 version of Porsche Unleashed, which is a completely different game compared to the PC version (and mostly considered superior to EA Canada's version). 2. EA Black Box only developed the PS2 version of Hot Pursuit 2. It's EA Seattle (who ported all NfS games from NfS2 to High Stakes to PCs) who developed the PC, Xbox, and Gamecube versions of Hot Pursuit 2, (Which also a completely different game compared to the PS2 version) and is often considered inferior. It resulted in EA Seattle closing down in 2002. 3. EA Canada co-developed Carbon along with EA Black Box. 4. EA Black Box developed the PS3, PC, and the 360 version of Undercover, the PS2 and Wii version was developed by Exient Entertainment (which also a completely different game compared to EA Black Box versions). 5. Firebrand Games also developed the Handheld versions of Undercover, and The Run. 6. Exient Entertainment also developed the Wii version of Hot Pursuit. 7. Actually the PC versions of NFS3 & High Stakes was done by EA Seattle, it was the PS1 versions that were done by EA Canada that's also the reason why the PC version of Porsche Unleashed is based on PS1 High Stakes' engine
I have my love and respect for EA Canada/EA Seattle (Distinctive Software Inc.) since they created NFS, all of its classic essence that I have not seen since when changed developers, such as the variety of circuits and scenarios and their way of giving the information, the showcase/video of each car, and especially the magnificent ""Original Soundtrack"" that I repeat, I have not seen from other developers. Now, I clarify, I do not discredit or make less of what Black Box, Criterion games, and other developers who have participated in some version of the franchise have done, since in one way or another idea, they have kept the games interesting and dynamic, only What I mentioned at the beginning is something I really miss about those EA Canada's NFS
Good ol’ Black Box Era was my favorite, but the Classic NFS Era is still awesome in its own right also, after that EA has been up and down like the stock market and have not been able to achieve what the Classic and Black Box Era have achieved today
Do you guys not know yet? Tencent China also made a racing game, called NFS Mobile or assemble. Last year Tencent wanted to make a PC game for mobile so it's a Free to play game. Then EA was surprised to see Tencent making NFS Mobile. That's why EA joined forces with Tencent for the racing game. But this is still in the development stage, so the game process is not yet complete. Let's wait for the release of the game.
Ah, Criterion, thank you for making my personal favorite NFS of all time (Hot Pursuit 2010). The one that got me into cars in the first place, and started my over obsession with video games. I will always hold that game close to me over any other NFS (including Most Wanted 2005, 2nd favorite). I hope that the Hot Pursuit update for Unbound will do great and capture some of the magic in 2010 like the Underground update (and maybe fix the damn cops 😂).
Black Box creation never dissappoint all NFS made by BB are legendary, famous and memorable 🔥 Criterion goated at sound dev especially NFSMW12 & HP2010 Ghost Games creation awesome at Graphics, detail and sounding
The funny thing is the Nfs fanbase hated Undercover and The Run back in the time of it's release leading to BlackBox being shut down. Now, they wish BlackBox wasn't shut down. I'm not blaming the fans entirely EA is responsible too for forcing blackbox to release Nfs games every year leading to unfinished and rushed games. But, when I play undercover or the run I love it more than carbon.
Well no it's not the developers fault it's the person who was incharge of it all as they were pressured in making undercover and pro street in 2 years in a row
Carbon, ProStreet and Undercover suffered from a rushed development (Even EA Canada has to step in to complete Carbon along with Black Box on time before release). That's why everyone often considered these 3 games as the least liked NFS entries by Black Box (and is considered inferior to Underground 1 & 2 and Most Wanted), because of that, EA decided to replace EA Black Box with both Ghost Games (until 2019) and Criterion Games as the primary developers of NFS. The sad thing is that Need for Speed: The Run (while not entirely a bad game and could be considered an improvement over ProStreet and Undercover) failed to achieve the same success as Underground 1 & 2 and Most Wanted, and it basicaly sets the final nail in the coffin for EA Black Box.
Black Box were kings in Need For Speed. They had classics like Underground, Underground 2 and Most Wanted. Though they were prone to stinkers like Pro Street and Undercover. After The Run, EA shut down the studio because they didn't meet the requirements and EA ran them to the ground. Hence Need For Speed today has been met with mixed reception.
You will all kill me but I prefer Criterion, SMS and Ghost over Blackbox. I only like Prostreet and The Run from Blackbox, and I grew up on HP2010, MW2012 and the Shift games
Black Box ❤ this should be the evolution of either game engines, development eras, or something else that doesn't focus on the Developers, because those same early 2000s developers in this 2024 era could perhaps make even more advanced or better games from a technological standpoint
Nfs wouldn't be the same today if we didn't had Underground and Most Wanted. And, those 2 wouldn't be possible without BlackBox. That's why they're the goats.
I don't know which is best, but definitely Criterion is the worst. They broke gameplay so bad, yes I mean brake to drift, crash cams and many other small things.
