Thank you so much. I can grow the biggest and healthiest veggies and fruits but strawberries give me the most problems I swear. Everyone round town remarks on how well my garden does but my strawberries are always lacking. This year I've got some better results some smalls but trimmed the runners off to encourage energy to fruit setting and the plants stalled out as usual. Lol help.
Are you having problems getting big strawberries or a lot of strawberries? What do you have your plants growing in? How long have you had those plants? Tell me more & ill try to help!
@@ElderandOakFarm both small berries and not many of them. They are everbearing. I planted the starts this year in mid may and they are in strawberries towers. They stack on each 3 half gallon pots to each planter 3 to a planter stacked 5 high. They are in a blend of FoxFarms strawberrie fields potting mix happy frog. I try every year to grow em and its always an epic fail. I think next year I might make raised bed just dedicated to strawberries cuz I've tried these towers. Made my own towers. Used 5 gallon plastic pots 5 gallon fabric pots And next year its either gonna be a raised bed slightly in the shade or an earthboox with a build a soil craft blend. I'm trying everything I can find. Maybe its the type of berries. But anyways thanks for the reply. Any help would be appreciated.
@@timpage5021 My grandma bought some flowers at the 99 cents store, because she thought they were pretty. I noticed a while back that there were some strawberries. I just cut it today I don’t even know how it grew? She just planted it in some dirt and watered it whenever she waters.
In the spring! I shpuld have said this in the video- you don't want to do it on the fall before winter temps, because the old leaves will provide some protection in the winter.
They are sooooo easy to grow! The hard part is keeping the runners ftom producing too many plants! These were producing runners in this video, but they are now, I'll be pisting some tips on how to care for them/what to do with the runners soon!
@@ElderandOakFarm do strawberry plants usually only grow fruit on one side? Mine looks very similar to that. Or would you know a good place for strawberry 101? There's a lot of info out there it's all very confusing.
No, they should be sending out fruiting "stems" on each side of the plant... but if its not getting enough sun on one side, it's possible that could be the reason... I'm actually literally working on planting some bare root strawberries at this very moment 😂 and I'll be including some growing tips, however it won't be a comprehensive growing quide...
