War and Conquest and concentration of wealth allows such works to be built. Peace loving societies would see no point in building coliseums, grand churches, pyramids, skyscrapers as they are a massive waste of valuable resources that would help provide the peace.

It require the skill of many trades, carpenters, bricklayers, electricians , engineers. People make a living doing it and provide for themselves and their families. Imagine society today if it had your pioneering spirit.

You really want to know? I can give you the answer. Communism. The Russians isolated East Germany from the West and even built a wall to keep people apart. Then they started to build their horrible creations of which I think the so called Kulturpalast was one, close to the where the old Frauenkirche once stood. This monstrosity is still there as reminder. Only the Germans could achieve this miracle of rebuilding this amazingly beautiful building known as the Frauenkirche

I visited the rebuilt church in 2016. What an amazing reconstruction. It’s just a pity that war and destruction still go on in the 21st century.
