I think the biggest thing with baker's program is potential for burnout for some riders. I wouldn't think tomacs program would be less intense or less science-based, but just giving a legit mental break from time to time is probably a necessary thing for a rider and to also not scare away future riders. Baker's factory makes being a pro racer look miserable
The Baker’s Factory hasn’t really produced much in the last several years. The dominance of Yamaha and Honda looks like it will continue into the future with their fresh crop of young talent coming up and Kawasaki is not to far behind. Baker’s Factory is going to be history before you know it.

All the injuries he’s gone thru and always comes back and fights! His dad is a kick in the ass too! When he went privateer and had his dad wrenching for him his little pit area at A-1 had more people around it than some of the big factory guys! That’s shows how much of a fan favorite he really is! Reminds me of the Bulgarian weight lifting teams. Push everyone to the limit. Most will fall away and the few that can hack it will win. They will get results, but in weightlifting it’s evolved to be smarter.
Why doesn't anyone model their training after McGrath? He was the best supercross rider of all-time. Sometimes it's important to go to Lake Havasu and decompress, as the stress from constant training can be counterproductive.
Alden raised the level of the training for the sport. All sports have done this over the last few decades. Now, other teams have put programs in place, and t's paying off for them too. Let's give him credit, it's made the sport better.
I think the speed of the riders has slowed down over the years. They got used to running a fast pace, but not like stewart or carmichael used too do. Jett and hunter are changing that. Their causing the other riders to have to pick up the pace. So glad this new fresh blood is dominating.
If I’m being honest, it doesn’t sound like much of a life. I get being a champion in something, anything, is huge. But man. No wonder Villopoto was completely content with retiring, and a lot of people don’t get it. But this should help make it clear why.
I think it’s time to move on passed Aldon. It’s his way or the highway and if you ever want to see someone miserable just look at Villopoto. I’m not saying Aldon did that to him but working 7 days a week with some pinhead ordering you around is not the way.
This literally sounds like the epitome of overtraining scenarios and potentially a very good argument for allowing riders to have input and help self direct their program. The monotony from how he described it is literally a fatigue metric that we track in professional soccer sport science. I like what Alcon has done for the sport but it’s time he brought in better outside professionals and or allow riders to seek out their own professionals.
Seems a similar idea to remote work. The company may want everyone and everything in one place, but if you're not excited to go to the office, or excited to work within a repetitive program, your mental (determination, health, etc.) may fade. What people forget it that Aldon only did Ricky’s fitness. Ricky’s mom was his riding coach. I remember in a magazine when Ricky was riding for Honda they showed a planner for a week. It was like 2 40 minute motos, then working on sections like whoops.
