Bonjour Alexa. Merci pour another excellent lesson. Voici mes sentences:
J'ai bu un petit vin blanc (hic).
(I have drunk a little white wine (hic).)
Tu as bu beaucoup de bière, hier nuit, à la fête.
(You drank a lot of beer, yesterday night, at the party.)
Robert a bu des thé avec sa sœur à la Café dans le parc.
(Robert drank tea with his sister at the Café in the park.)
On a bu un verre d'eau sur la plage; Thomas et sa mère ont bu du jus d'orange, et vous avez bu du lait.
(We drank a glass of water on the beach; Thomas & his mother drank orange juice, & you drank milk.)
Nous n'avons pas bu beaucoup ce soir, avons-nous?
(We have not drunk a lot this evening, have we?)

Bonjour! Can someone please explain the difference between l'imparfait and passé composé? I sort of understand and at the same time I don't... If you know what I mean🤭 I would like to know a better way to differentiate between the two and when to use each. Merci beaucoup!
So, I'm gonna try to explain as simple as possible. I might not be 100% right so if anyone knows better, feel free to correct me.
The passé composé is the equivalent for past tense and the present perfect. "I have drunk/I drank".
The imperfect is the equivalent of the past continuous. "I was drinking" so when you use the imperfect, you are talking about an action which WAS TAKING place while something else happened. "When the phone started ringing last night, I WAS SLEEPING". In French, you would use the imperfect for "I was sleeping", not the passé composé.

Alexa, I don't understand why, according to this lesson, you can't say (literally) "I drank" in french... I have done some research at the Larousse dictionary and I found that you can say "I drank" ("Je bus", passé simple) and "I have drank" ("J'ai bu", passé composé)... Am I wrong?

Quelle est la difference entre: _''Je buvais, Je bus,_ et _J'ai bu.''_ ?
Parce que comme vous dites, en français la forme du verb en _passé simple_, _imparfait_ et _passé composé_ n'ont pas d'importance parce sont utilisées dans la même manière; donc j'ai besoin de savoir ce qui peut arriver si je fais un erreur quand je mélange tels les temps.

Alexa, may I try to guess the answer to Ryan's question? It's d'eau instead of de l'eau because "a glass of water" was used. "Of water" is d'eau while "some water" is de l'eau...is this correct?
