- Yes, she was a real horse!
Misty of Chincoteague was born on July 20, 1946 at the Beebe Ranch on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. There, she was spotted by author Marguerite Henry...and the rest is history!

I remember visiting Stormy at the miniature pony center, probably around 1988. At that time, you could walk right up to the stall and pet her. We have a photograph of her with my sister standing next to her. Great memories! For us kids, it was like meeting a celebrity. The miniature pony show was fun as well. I was sad when the place was shut down, but I’m happy someone still has the memorabilia displayed. I hope it remains treasured and well preserved.
I visited Chincoteague and assateague as a kid on a trip with my mom, my brother and my grandparents. It was one of the happiest memories of my life... im coming up on 50 now. One of my dreams is to visit again 😊 I've still got my Misty book around here somewhere 😊 Thanks for sharing ❤❤
I read the books when I was in elementary school. Later the movie too. 😊
Get your trailer ready. The swim and auction are only 3 months away hearts
this is a wonderful mini-documentary! what fun to see what the beebe family actually looks like. wesley dennis did a great job of capturing their kind faces in his illustrations. thanks for posting. greetings from idaho.

do a bit of digging in to the history of the museum.
it was closed for several years and misty was moved.
now granted it may have changed but the last i knew she was not placed back as her condition had degraded and it was going to cost thousands to restore her.
Hello! We are happy to report that we are taking good care of Misty and Stormy here at the Museum of Chincoteague Island. Come visit us! You can see both Misty and Stormy on display in their new corral :)
@@museumofchincoteagueisland vary happy to here that.
i was at the old museum several times back in the early 90es and when it closed my wife (at the time) and my self purchased a few large mixed lots from the sale sadly she sold some and most of the rest was lost to a flood or i would have gladly given it back to you.
you best check your info you have a few things way off.
