I have a Carrier 5 ton Heat pump. I have the same wire colors I connected the same as you see at 12:16 here in Bob's video. Except one more Orange wire that I connected to O/B. I hope this helps someone
You will need the 5th wire (common) to power the device. Your old thermostat probably doesn't require any power for lights or whatever. Even though only 4 wires are hooked up doesn't mean there are only 4 wires to work with. Pull back the sheathing on the wire to see if there's another wire in there. If there is a 5th wire in there hook it up as the common wire on thermostat and common power 24v from your HVAC system, just like in the video. If your thermostat is close to your HVAC system you can replace the wire with a 5 wire cable if it's not too hard to run a new wire like in the video. I think they have come out with some type of device since this video was made to compensate for people without 5 wires but I'm not familiar with it. I hope this helps, let me know.

My heating and A/C units are in different locations. Which unit would have the "C" terminal to supply the 24V? ALso, because of 2 different units, how do i know whci are the W,G,R and yellow connections at the unit end?
@@WA-hornet007 I think it should work but I'm not sure about how to wire it. The C wire is only the power supply to power the thermostat at 24V, if you can figure out a way to add a 24V power supply it will work fine.
So I guess you're saying the 4 wire jumper method doesn't work? Can you please share how it should be hooked up is your using the wire jumper method. Thanks in advance!
You can add the add a wire add on which allows y and g to operate separately by isolating the lines with a diode so they dont back feed on each other but ultimately the best way is to just run a new 5 wire I have never run into a job that you cant run a new wire. There is always a way you just have to find it.
I Think by using the jumper is going to be ok in the cooling mode automatic, but in heating mode the blower is no going to be working, and also if you put your thermostat in manual just to run the blower I assume that is no going to be working because there is not wire connected from the terminal G of the thermostat to the terminal G in the furnace.

Did you download the Honeywll Home App? Thats the one that will work with this thermostat. Also your device will have to be connected to your network before you can access it on your phone. Hope that helps, if not I'll try to help you figure it out.
Will this T5 work with my heater thermostat that has only 2 wires (red and white) 24V Ac system? Just heater no A/C. My current thermostat is the Honeywell CT30A1005 Heat Only Non Programmable Thermostat.
From what I can tell it should. I don't know for sure but here's a helpful link on Honeywell's site. www.honeywellhome.com/en/general-pages/wi-fi-programmable-thermostat-home-compatibility If you answer the questions which it tells you if your system is compatible with the T-5 based on the wires you currently have. Photo FlyBoy The power was back on. My husband pulled one of the fuses out the panel where the wires connect and it is blown. Could this be the problem? We’re going to get a fuse now to replace it.
@@jessicaboyd8774 If a fuse is blown that definitely would cause a problem. Did your original thermostat have just 3 wires connecting to it? If so make sure those are connected in the same way they were originally hooked up and then all you need is the 4th wire to power the device using the 24V connection on the HVAC control board and thermostat. DON'T use the jumper wire METHOD #2 I showed in this video as it DOESN'T WORK. If you read the comments below you can see that William's explains this. I hope this helps :) good luck!
There are 2 methods described in this video. The first method works just fine but the second method described with a jumper wire does not work! Sorry Ken, I don't know what should do with only 2 wires. I think if you only have to wires you don't have AC just a heater. I believe there are some 2 wire intall instructions at honeywells site. Hope that helps....... 🙂

Doesn't Honeywell offer a free c wire adapter when you buy their thermostats? They used to at least. There was a mail in offer in the manual

Look at how your current thermostat is set up and check the wires going into it. All the wires should be colored coded.

I found my unused blue wire and connected it to my common. Tried using that C wire adapter first, scrapped it.
By using the 4 wire jumper you have disabled the fan on control from the thermostat and wired the blower to ac control only
