Really enjoy following along on your adventure. We are seeing the effects of the fires here in Ontario. We have experienced a few hazy days and it has been on the cooler side as the heat from the sun can't filter through to heat up the ground. There are, now, also fires in BC and Saskachewan. They seem to start to get some of the fires under control and then more spring up. Thankfully you haven't experienced any of the flooding that has been occurring in BC. Continue to enjoy your trip and stay safe.
Thank you. The trip has been great, and we passed through the area at the onset of the fires. It is terrible what's going on and so early in the season. We're hoping not a lot of people's homes are impacted.
@@lilylangman5620 We're in southern Ontario. The haziness has subsided but we are expecting a cold front to come through this week and there is a frost advisory for northern and eastern Ontario, Quebec and further east. Our temps here in southern ontario could be 5 - 8 degrees below normal.

Hi David and Sondra, wonderful video for this week, has everything. Forrest fires 🔥, so sad. Beautiful lakes and foothills with lots of snow ❄️. Reminds me of Lake Tahoe where I lived there for many years in Incline Village NV. I loved to be encircled by Snow Caped Mountains. Again, just a great 👍 video, thanks 🙏 sooooo much.
Wow!! The prices of food!!! Good thing you knew to plan ahead!!❤ The scenery was beautiful!! Looking forward to next week! Stay safe! Oh, & we have the fire smog down here in Gaylord , Michigan. Northern part of lower peninsula. We are camping in our 40-foot 5th wheel. Love your adventures!!
Hi guys... David it looks like he ran a red light there in a very beginning...🤣🤣 The baby bison was real cute... Little ones are always little ones.. Playing and having fun....Jeanne said that they have a good set up for the Hot Springs... I'm not so sure we could enjoy all that cold weather... It's pretty however we had so much of it when we worked... We can do without it now... The scenery is gorgeous... Love you videos... Thanks stay safe...J&A
Lol... very observant, J&A. It was a quick yellow for sure. We knew the weather would be iffy at times but the trip is worth it. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching the channel. 😁
Just came across your channel. We are traveling in a 2020 XG32 and are currently in Muncho Lake on our way to Alaska. The ice has thawed and the lake is the color like the green on a Peacock. Speaking of those frost humps. We hit a series of 4 perfectly placed humps. I tried to slow but on the 4th "landing" the driver's side inner tire blew. Glad we carry a spare. Maybe we will cross paths, safe travels.
Sorry about the tire. Those frost heaves are crazy! We'll be in Seward next week. Hopefully, We'll cross paths. Appreciate your time watching the channel. 😃
Ok.. I am beginning the planning for next year. Just beautiful - even with the smoke. Ouch! That cereal price even at Canadian prices hurts the wallet for sure! Thanks for letting us continue to tag along!
A few of those prices hurt but we understand when you're in the middle of the wide open, empty spaces. That's why we brought our own along. It's fun to research but allow a lot of time for the journey.
WOW! I can't believe I saw a sign there saying "YUMA, ARIZONA 2875 MILES"!!!! With all the Canadian Snowbirds that come here to Yuma, it was nice to see a sign for Yuma in Canada! Woooo-Hooo!
our last major trip, 82 days, only 8 paid campsites, 8 different nights and we NEVER plugged in - strictly solar, not even the alternator. We will be following you part of the way, We are doing Dawson City for the Klondike anniversary, and the top of world, maybe to Fairbanks. We are expecting 2 months in total. you got to explain the unit with you with the BLUE Jeep! I have asked before..
Very cool. Sounds like a great boondocking setup. The twin with the blue jeep is some friends of ours who are tagging along on our trip. They don't want to be in the videos but are ok with showing the rig at times. Thanks for the comments. 😃
Glad to see you guys making great progress, I have been following Ak travelers who say the road between Destruction Bay and Tok is awful. It will be interesting to hear your experience in that section. I always stop and pick a rock up at Moncho lake. It is still cold up there. Safe travels.
Yes, the road between Destruction Bay and Tok is still bad. It gets better about 20 miles before you enter Tok. Good fuel price in Tok for diesel but Delta Junction had the best price so far.
We have loved following your journey, we are heading that way in June and starting our channel to also document our journey! Keep up the great information and safe travels
It's a great way to keep, remember and share the memories. I think pictures are great but video does tend to capture the emotion of the moment. Glad you're enjoying the trip. Safe travels on yours and take it slow from Destruction Bay to Tok.
We love Capitol Reef NP. The Jeep road into the park is tremendous....both sides of the main road. And the hike up to Cassidy Arch is fantastic too! Arches NP is one of our favorites!
I am pretty sure those electrified fences are there because a woman and her child were attacked and killed by a bear a back in 1997. Just google "Liard Hot Springs Bear Attack" and you can read up on the horrifying story. I hope to visit there next year and will be very happy to have those fences in place.
show what a beautiful view that's why Americans have a tradition of caravanning, very cool I'm here in Brazil following your adventures congratulations.
Tool for thought if you cross tie bolt bracket area of Jeep to opposite side of RV bracket you should be able to back straight back for as long as you need without disconnecting Jeep.
Lots of fun, Mark but not without its challenges to get the Class C ready for this kind of trip. I hope the bugs are small. Congrats on the purchase. Safe travels.
Definitely, Christine. We wanted to do that last year when we were in Washington but our daughter had a baby and we also had to pick up Curiosity. Next time, it's on the list to visit. Thanks
Thanks, Jim & Pearl. They were so frisky that it was hilarious. Cavorting around with the other red dogs. Neat to see, glad you're along on the journey. 😊
@Big Truck Big Travels we did get an important takeaway from this video. Our dolly has maybe 4 inches of clearance. Those big bump ice heave thingys across the road will not be too good. Someday we hope to get a jeep, but for now our little civic runs great and is paid for.
excellent video. My wife any I are following your trail next summer. we will be going from Colorado to Michigan to Seattle then to our home in Anchorage.
Thank you very much. We enjoy traveling in the RV and seeing the different sights so I guess it shows. Appreciate your comment and glad to have you along.
Following along on our Atlas. Enjoy your trip. We are heading to Prince George this summer!😊 Thanks for the shout out for canadian tire - we miss it so much when we are in the u.s.a.
I’ve only driven this road twice both times northbound. The first time was 1979 and it was mostly gravel then. I then drove in in 2013 and it was greatly improved being paved and many of the corners straightened out. I just fly when I want to go to the lower 48. Enjoy your trip.
Even the first time I drove it the frost heaves were worse on the Alaska side of the border. Are you going to drive the Dalton Highway when up here? It is a beautiful drive. Get a CB and talk to the truckers telling them you are slowing for them and try to give them the right of way on hills and bridges. I would always stop on top of a hill of before a bridge and tell them I’ll wait. I worked along it for 15 years and the job I had I drove on it a lot.
@@bigtruckbigtravels On the gravel portions of the Dalton usually the people that drive real fast get the flats. I remember being passed by someone doing about 70 mph and a few miles down the road they had a flat. I asked if they needed help and they said they had two spares so they were good. I saw them the next day with another flat and I stopped and they told me this was their 3 flat and didn’t have a spare. They wanted me to give them a ride to the Yukon River service station but it was against company policy. I told them I could call them as I could phone patches with the pipeline radio. They declined. I used to know about every pull off and would explore them. After work we would hike, fish and in the winter snowshoe. This was about 20 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
With Sondra descending the embankment (@+-16mins) you were very good with your comment, David. Like..... "No content". I would have.... (Dammit, no content. Would you please try that again)😂😂😂
I think Alberta is up to about 1.5 million acres burned in May and BC is second so there is smoke everywhere all the way to Ontario and USA depending on the winds. The temperature rose dramatically from like 50 F to 90 F in less than two weeks. Many small towns/reserves in my area are evacuated and taking shelter in our town. One of them pretty much burned down. I believe a few years back a lady and others were attacked by a bear at Liard Hotsprings and there was a fatality. That may be the reason for the electric fence.
Sorry about the fires. I hope they get it under control. No fun being evacuated. We figured there must have been an incident. Thanks for the comments. 😃
@@bigtruckbigtravels Thank you. Many of the fires took place since you were driving through. We were evacuated due to a 730 000 acre fire 4 years ago. I got to stay and fight the fires so lots of choking for a few months on the smoke. I imagine you may be in Alaska by now. I hope you enjoyed your time in Canada.
YEAH😊‼️I’m with you😊👍‼️I am new to your channel. How many years have you been on the road? Do you have a permanent home somewhere. It is incredible what the smoke of the fires does to the color of the sun. We had that for several weeks this summer in Illinois.
Hey, Linda and welcome. We've been on the road since December 2015. We sold everything and started fulltiming. We have no permanent home so we're traveling somewhere every week...or every few weeks. No real schedule, we go where the wind takes us but we do have a loose 5 year plan of what areas we want to see. Appreciate your time watching the channel. Great to have you along on the journey. 😊
Excellent! We begin our full-time journey in 3 weeks in our class-C and Jeep, and Alaska is on the bucket list! BTW, what bike covers are those? Thanks!
Great segment. Bringing back lots of wonderful memories. Stayed at Moncho Lake at a fly in lodge . Swiss owned and a fun stay. Is Sondra native Hawaiin ? Sorry she is always cold. David, you seem to have a different thermostat. Stay safe and keep having fun.
Lol... that's funny. I grew up in Hawaii but I stay warm by running around all the time... and constantly getting out to look at possible campsites. Lol
No wonder there is fence around Liard springs. The Liard Hot Springs bear attack is one of the worst black bear attacks in history. The bear fatally mauled two people and injured 4. One of the victims was Patti McConnell who was a mother of two.
That was so unfortunate! We found out a little later after we left. So sad but such a beautiful area. We were just surprised to see it. Makes sense to have it.
Yes but the views and wilderness feel offset the costs...sort of! Lol. We love the area and traveling in it. Thank you for your time watching the channel. 😃
We were alone in the Alaska trip. The blue Jeep you see was some people that we met at a rally and were afraid to go to Alaska by themselves so asked to tag along. We crossed the border and to our surprise took off! We had a great time, haven't heard from them since. I guess they just needed an itinerary.
Hello. This comment is several months after the video, however, I am researching driving from Montana to Prince Rupert. My question is, did you have trouble finding gas stations? People tell me I have to go HUNDREDS of miles to find a gas station on the Alcan. Thank you for your help and I enjoyed the video!
Fuel was very plentiful on the Alcan. I would say that never more than 120 miles between fuel stops. Only a few stations were closed and some were automated but fuel availability was never a concern.
@@bigtruckbigtravels Yes, I did the same with $49..they are wonderful. Pretty hard to register a 43 ft. diesel pusher in Honolulu where we live! BTW Duke Kahanamoku Beach in Waikiki just recognized as #2 beach in the U.S. Hope to meet you guys one of these days!
@rodsaunders3741 yes. I would imagine very difficult in the Aloha state! It's a cool setting for the beach. Last time we were there we took our breakfast and ate there by the water.
I've driven it 10 times and just stay in the turnouts along the hwy, free and never had a problem. I don't pay for camping the entire trip. I am in a turn out on the Tok cut off now LOL.
That's great, Jim. We did that in 2017 with our Big Rig but this trip we wanted to experience more of the provincial parks and state recreation sites as well. Both are good. We stayed in a really nice one next to the Nenana River on our way to Denali. Appreciate your time watching the channel. 😃
@@bigtruckbigtravels Guess I shouldn't say never I did stay in the Provincial twice and they are really nice. I know where you are talking about on the Nenana.
Thanks, Anne, for the comments. We're on an RV fulltime journey and sometimes we just enjoy the area for its features. Appreciate your time watching the channel. 😃 We'll try to add more of that info.
Sick moose would go bath in the upper pool to feel better. There was a bear attack on that board walk so probably why all the extra safety with the fencing
Hmmm...we thought something like that must have happened for the drastic animal safety precautions. That would have been amazing to see a moose bathing in the upper pool area. It was really a treat to visit.
The wife and I are out on our shake down trip before we head out for Memorial Day. We are camping on Joint Base Elmendorf- Richardson in Anchorage Alaska.
I took a trip to Alaska last year and had a great time. Have you tried holding your jeep steering wheel straight when you have to back up. Witnessed a guy in Whitehorse back his RV and tow vehicle up by rolling down the window and holding the steering wheel straight while his wife backed up the RV . Seemed to work out good for him.
So far our system is working good. Our friends already got windshield damage on RV and Jeep but they don't have the same set up as ours. We thought it out. 😊 thanks for the comment. 😃
We are loving watching you travel to Alaska. I would like to request a how-to video on hand signals for helping your partner back up and maneuver the rv. Also, how are storing your digital data (sorting and naming folders, etc.). Thanks for posting!
Radios work well, when you escalate to hand signs that is not appropriate for YT, lol. Just kidding kind of, I have seen things that turned into hilarious to me but not to them.
@@badgerpa9 LOL - I know all too much about it getting 'not appropriate". I'm a Texan married to a Mainer. Those New Englanders don't understand southern like "fixin to wack", "tad bit", "hee, haw", "whoo", "not in the wallow out spot", etc. We tried the phone but cell service isn't always available. Then there whole, "you have to stay where i can see you in the mirror" game. It's a good thing I love my yankee because he is a hard one to train. LOL🥰
Lol... the hand signals are unique to everyone for sure. We also use Sena bluetooth headsets and they work great... you just have to watch your language...🤔😉🤣

It's so big now, Terri, I think it would be difficult to find it now! Lol.
Thanks for bringing on your trip!
You're welcome, Kris. Glad you're along on the journey. 😊
Wow!! The prices of food!!! Good thing you knew to plan ahead!!❤
The scenery was beautiful!! Looking forward to next week! Stay safe! Oh, & we have the fire smog down here in Gaylord , Michigan. Northern part of lower peninsula. We are camping in our 40-foot 5th wheel. Love your adventures!!
Thanks, Pat. Some of the food prices are crazy! Hope you're skies clear soon. Enjoy your camping.
Really enjoying your travels from here in Sellicks Beach, South Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you very much. Hope your winter is not too "cold" down under. We want to visit one of these days. Appreciate you watching the channel.
Thanks for sharing 😊
You're welcome, Peter.
Awesome, we are on our way, we'll probably run into you guys somewhere in Alaska.
That's super cool 😎. It's a great trip, take it slow. That would be neat to run into one another...figuratively speaking, of course! 🤣
WOW! I can't believe I saw a sign there saying "YUMA, ARIZONA 2875 MILES"!!!! With all the Canadian Snowbirds that come here to Yuma, it was nice to see a sign for Yuma in Canada! Woooo-Hooo!
Woohoo! I know, eh?!? 🤔🤣😂😎😁 We couldn't believe it either.
our last major trip, 82 days, only 8 paid campsites, 8 different nights and we NEVER plugged in - strictly solar, not even the alternator.
Another great video. I thought for sure the video would end again at the closed campground! 😊
Lol... didn't want too many cliffhangers! Thank you for your comments.
GREAT work!!!
THANK YOU!!!
Thanks, Chris. Appreciate your comments.
33:18, I visited Capitol Reef National Park 3 week ago and very beautiful, on the way to Arches National Park.
We love Capitol Reef NP. The Jeep road into the park is tremendous....both sides of the main road. And the hike up to Cassidy Arch is fantastic too! Arches NP is one of our favorites!
Electrified fences take the fun and adventure out of camping. Enjoy your trip.
I am pretty sure those electrified fences are there because a woman and her child were attacked and killed by a bear a back in 1997. Just google "Liard Hot Springs Bear Attack" and you can read up on the horrifying story. I hope to visit there next year and will be very happy to have those fences in place.
Thanks, Gary. They are installed for a reason and we respect that decision. The hotsprings are beautiful.
I can now say that I have been in Alaska. Thanks
Yes and you have seen what few others have seen...even most of the residents!
show what a beautiful view that's why Americans have a tradition of caravanning, very cool I'm here in Brazil following your adventures congratulations.
Glad to have you along on the journey. Lots to see in our country but I've heard Brazil is beautiful too!
Tool for thought if you cross tie bolt bracket area of Jeep to opposite side of RV bracket you should be able to back straight back for as long as you need without disconnecting Jeep.
Interesting, thank you. 😊 We'll give it a try.
Guys, I really enjoy your videos, thank you!
I'm excited about Ventures new line Delta!
Keep'em comin!!!!
Thanks, Phil. We're excited that the trip is actually started too! Appreciate the comments.
Thanks for taking us along. ❤ your pictures. What happened to your lonely solar panel?
Lol, Jerry. It was covered for an experiment... we finished so it's now uncovered. Oh well... thanks for the comments.
Love the videos. We just bought a class C still working the bugs out. Would love to make that trip.
Lots of fun, Mark but not without its challenges to get the Class C ready for this kind of trip. I hope the bugs are small. Congrats on the purchase. Safe travels.
We left our mark in the signpost in 2010! We want to come again at 79 years old!
Oh yeah! You'll have to go back and find it. BTW, they have greatly expanded the sign post forest.
Your life is beautiful. I wish you a long life and the most beautiful times
Thank you very much. We enjoy sharing our experiences and glad you're along on the journey. 😊
Make sure you include Vancouver Island. It’s beautiful
Definitely, Christine. We wanted to do that last year when we were in Washington but our daughter had a baby and we also had to pick up Curiosity. Next time, it's on the list to visit. Thanks
The baby bison were so cute. We are really enjoying the ride so far.
@@TheGrayLifewithJimPearl being paid for makes it the right vehicle. Taking it real slow helps a lot with the bumps. Thanks for the comment. 😃
excellent video. My wife any I are following your trail next summer. we will be going from Colorado to Michigan to Seattle then to our home in Anchorage.
That will be a nice trip. We're enjoying it immensely, especially through the Okanagan Valley.
You guys give so good vibes
Thank you very much. We enjoy traveling in the RV and seeing the different sights so I guess it shows. Appreciate your comment and glad to have you along.
Thanks for taking the time to film and edit each eposide. I will never make this trip and love seeing the scenery
Thank you, Carolyn for joining us on our journey. It will be a fun summer.
Following along on our Atlas. Enjoy your trip. We are heading to Prince George this summer!😊
Thanks for the shout out for canadian tire - we miss it so much when we are in the u.s.a.
Canadian Tire is so unique that I think everyone has to visit it at least once in their life. Enjoy the trip to PG.
ALCAN- I thought they made the road from (aluminum cans) hehehe
Ok, Mark... that's a good "Bad Dad Joke"! I like it!
did you know baby bison are called red dogs
truly enjoying
Yes that's it! Thank you!
I’ve only driven this road twice both times northbound. The first time was 1979 and it was mostly gravel then. I then drove in in 2013 and it was greatly improved being paved and many of the corners straightened out. I just fly when I want to go to the lower 48. Enjoy your trip.
Flying definitely seems the way to go if you live in AK, Chris. We love the drive but then it's nearly a 6 month journey for us.
Oh and the road is significantly better than in 2017... except from Destruction to Tok. Great scenery though.
@Neveragain572 that is great advice. Thank you. We are going to drive it but take our time, maybe 100 miles per day or so.
We have lots of smoke and ash in Central Alberta. You can't see 1/2 a mile. We are praying for rain.
That is terrible, Pat. I hope you guys get some downpours soon.
With Sondra descending the embankment (@+-16mins) you were very good with your comment, David. Like..... "No content".
I would have.... (Dammit, no content. Would you please try that again)😂😂😂
Lol, that's good, Glen. Hahaha...I "might" have been thinking it...gee... did I say that it loud?!?
That’s a caribou not an elk, love following your travels.
Thanks, Harold. We'll adjust our tracker chart.
I still don't know about this twin....but I say you are being followed.
I think we are too, Jeanne. We're trying to lose them... they might be freeloaders 🤔😉😇🤣
Great adventure footage. Tell Sondra to hang in there. The animals will show up. You guys are a bit early yet (as you know). Safe travels.
Thanks, Keith. We're starting to see more now as we get closer to Seward.
@@bigtruckbigtravels that’s great to hear. Jill and I love seeing the animals as well. It really “makes” the trip!!
Excellent! We begin our full-time journey in 3 weeks in our class-C and Jeep, and Alaska is on the bucket list! BTW, what bike covers are those? Thanks!
Congratulations on the life changing decision! It will be fun. Sondra made them from Topeak single bike covers.
The further north you go, therefore the more remote it is, the more everything coats, because ofnthe high costs related to shipping it up there.
Yes but the views and wilderness feel offset the costs...sort of! Lol. We love the area and traveling in it. Thank you for your time watching the channel. 😃
@@bigtruckbigtravels You're welcome!
I’m confused…trying to find out about the blue jeep and the other RV …thought you were alone. Beautiful scenery
We were alone in the Alaska trip. The blue Jeep you see was some people that we met at a rally and were afraid to go to Alaska by themselves so asked to tag along. We crossed the border and to our surprise took off! We had a great time, haven't heard from them since. I guess they just needed an itinerary.
@@bigtruckbigtravels thank you…
Very much enjoying your adventure up to Alaska! Just curious about your rig and Jeep showing Montana plates. Did you do the Montana LLC thing?
Aloha!
Hey, Rod. Yes we did with $49 Dollar Montana LLC. Great service. Thanks for watching the channel. 😁
It is ash yes
Wow, Christine. Thank you. We weren't sure but with the fires in the area it was a possibility.
Suggestion.. more about your actual life in your RV also more general information about the areas.
Very nice. We'll be near Eagle River this weekend (hopefully). Enjoy the shakedown and hopefully nothing shakes apart!
We live in Eagle River
Maybe we will see you around town.
@@tonyjohnson3396 we're hoping to get into the state park for this weekend before we head to Seward on Sunday. Small world!
@tonyjohnson3396 that would be great.
Thanks, Thomas. We were told to not put pressure on the tow bar in that direction. They will pull but not push. I like the steering wheel idea though.
Better put a cover on the front and windshield of your tow vehicle..ask me how I know
So far our system is working good. Our friends already got windshield damage on RV and Jeep but they don't have the same set up as ours. We thought it out. 😊 thanks for the comment. 😃
I'm interested to follow your trip. I took the OLD military Alcan Hiway (all huge gravel) to Alaska in 1963. I don't recognise anything so far. AL
Wow! My hats off to you...that old road was a bear...this current route is really nice...except for Destruction Bay. Enjoy the journey.
What’s the length & towing capacity of your Class C ? Great video , thx for sharing & safe travels . ⚾️👍
Frozen rivers in May in the northern hemisphere. Ye gods, says an Australian who lives in one of the coldest parts of his country.
😆 🤣 I know... we didn't see unfrozen water until June!
Ok I have to ask you both seem to get along so well! Do you have any agreements? You both seem really calm about everything! I look forward to watching your channel! You guys are the most organized people I’ve ever seen! Which is really great
Argument’s sorry
Great question, Shelli. We both enjoy the RV lifestyle and the travel aspects of it, so we're normally in sync. I think it's important to both be on the same page with something like RVing.
