Bhai saab , thanks for showing my home country. The comment that Mauritius feels empty is very true. I have seen it written in European guide books. I think it feels that way because of the small population size (1.2 million), the high level of urbanisation (beyond the official cities, there are big towns which are administratively labelled as villages). I think it also has to do with the island's history as a colonial plantation economy where most people lived in tiny villages scattered over huge plantations. The remnants of these huge plantations is what gives that empty feeling. Since people in Mauritius people can live in their native villages and commute to cities for education or job there is no big pressure for people to live in one big city. People tend to live for several generations in the same place. Over time, the populations demographics have slowly changed but the electoral districts have remained almost the same since independence. So now a much smaller and quite 'empty' rural areas send a larger number of MPs to the parliament, in effect deciding who forms a government. Like in Japan, this has ensured that the government invests heavily in the rural areas. Will it change in the future ? Not much of chance because of the small size of the country, there is not much of a cultural divide between the city and the rural areas. So Mauritius will still feel empty in the future because it is just an old colonial setup which is frozen in time.
And i wonder if a black people from Africa or AmericAn comes to Mauritius and would you still praise his comment like you did here. Cuz I know for a fact your kind of people don't like black african that much.. 😐

They still widely spoke Bhopuri till the 5th generation. Bhojpuri was the spoken language while Hindi was the prestige dialect. My first language as a child was Bhojpuri. On TV and radio the north indian programmes were in Hindi. For example the news will be in Hindi and my grandma will be lamenting in Bhojpuri that her people are dying off in road accidents. Then she will be annoyed when the TV programme switched from Hindi to Tamil. Time for her to take a walk :)
