    Nice disclaimer, Joe. Just crazy how much discussion there is about quality issues the owner of the print does not see, and hopefully not care as long he/she is pleased with the outcome.

      It truly gets to me when someone showcases their print which they are extremely happy with and then other rip him apart. People can just be happy with what they have but many like to boast about their abilities by belittling others

    Joe, nice video! Not only do you show what the setting does but also what the variation does. And you show how each of us can find the setting for our printer. Very valuable info!

    Thanks for making this video. I went through the steps with Cura (you would not believe the initial bridge settings in that) and I ended up with very similar results to yours but my bridges don't look like a dog's-breakfast anymore!

    Thanks for introducing me to Ideamaker! I'm a PrusaSlicer tragic, but I can see that the Ideamaker interface has some attractive features.
    Oh, and by the way. You're a lucky man, living in Malta. I've visited your islands a few times, and I've always returned with happy memories. I'm particularly fond of the Maltese. Maybe my knowing a bit about the George Cross matter, and also some other history helped me to make friends. But, I do think the Maltese are a people who do try their best to make visitors welcome.
    You also make some top-notch wines which few people are aware of (Marsovin comes to mind!).
    I wouldn't play water polo against any Maltese, though!

    Excellent tutorial. I also do this same process for EACH layer of my bridge multi-layer Cura slicer settings (0.2mm bridge, then 0.4mm, then 0.6mm). I find it handy to place the bridges up to the light to see if each added layer is truly bonding well, or not.

    Why didn't you try density and flow rates of less than 100%? In cura when it does bridging it always has the first two bridging layers at like 75% and 85% flow rate and density. The third layer it finally Up's them up to above 100%. In CURA's setting guide it explains that these values are set below 100% at first because it allows the bridge to do a few things. First off by having the density less than 100% it gives gaps between each filament strand so air can flow around it and it can cool faster. The idea is that if it cools faster then it becomes rigid in the air as fast as possible so it does not sag. The reason the flow rate is less than 100% is again for cooling reasons. Less material flowing out makes the lines thinner and thus able to cool faster. Less flow also means that the filament weighs less, so its own weight doesn't bring it down and make it sag. Once it has the first two layers of the bridge set up, then it has a support structure in place. Then the third layer can have values of over 100% to fill in the gaps that are left behind.
    Is there any reasoning why with idea maker that you do not do bridging with values below 100%?

    You know I have not been able to dial my bridging in with PETG, but I have often wondered if I had a fan of sub 0c air blowing on the filament behind the nozzle (directly onto the filament) would that help? Maybe use a peltier device to chill the air to below ambient and hit the filament?

    What was the result of changing the fan speed? You show some results after explaining the changes you did but you do not explicitly say that those results are for changing the fan speed. I would think that the first one pictured was the one at 25% and it looks to be the better result. Can you confirm?

    I am now trying to bridge for the fist time with my ender 3 v2 cura 4.8.0 but before the printing i can see in the slicer that it makes 1 brigelayer run but after that it wants to make a normal layer with crosslines in between the walls of the second and third layer. I have marked the setting that the bridge is multiple layers but after slicing it remains just as before. If i say that the liine direction of the toplayers must be 90 degrees than it makes the 2 most top layers in the lengts direction of the bridge as i want but not the second and third layer. The thichness of the bridge is 1mm and sliced at 0.2 mm so 5 layers in total. And set the toplayers a 5 layers.
    Can anybody tell me how i can make 5 layers in the direction of the bridge?
    I think that printing the second and third layer in this way it will not going to be going well.

      @youdig-detection 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no idea but if you enable more parameter with overhang and so on it's seem to work at least it's working on the top layer for me, it's work better with layer param as it's faster if you dont want do sequential printing ( and setup of it)

    • @youdig-detection
      @youdig-detection 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not sure if it that but on the model it showing the mesh on the same direction now add "fixed bridging angle" to 90deg on the preview and when im priting . at the end i cannot get ideamaker to print good bridging for my anycubic predator ... had to move to cura it's really anyoing.... i think this tuts is not valid anymore and need to reworked.
      I have good brindging i cura and i have totaly no clue why tbh.

    Use half a spool to create best possible profile and next time you buy exactly same filament, you may be surprised as manufacturer change a recipe by a notch and you have to start again... After few 100 of hours setting up everything and tuning your printer by printing a parts for a fully functional device you realise there is actually nothing you would like to print except another part to tune your printer even more 🤣 😂 priceless

    Extrusion width has nothing to do with bridging, this setting interpolate nozzle height.

  • @danielrioux54
    @danielrioux54 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for the presentation, but I noticed you don’t really explain the purpose behind your actions or the reasoning for the sequences. For example, when discussing extrusion width, it seems there’s some misunderstanding. To achieve a specific extrusion width, like 110%, you need to apply the extrusion flow onto a surface, allowing the melted filament to spread under the nozzle to the desired width. Without a proper surface, you’re just pushing more material, which won’t increase the width and will create gaps between passes. The same goes for adjusting fan speeds-there needs to be more explanation about why you’re making these changes rather than just presenting variations in values.
