I too often forget all the applications of the Carolina rig. I learned to fish using the C-rig and now seldom think about it. Thanks for the reminder. Sugoi!
I essentially use this rig all the time but for floating powerbait off the bottom for trout. Perhaps I'll need to give it a shot for everything else. Great video once again sir!
Use this set up in the shallow surf when I'm not throwing a hard bait. Usually use a curly tailed grub. Catch perch, croaker and sometimes corbina. Good video 👍
Never have I considered using a Carolina rig in this manner, the scales have fallen from my eyes! When using a lighter weight Carolina rig I have trouble feeling strikes even with sensitive great, a swimming retrieve solves it, very cool.
This Carolina Rig is a very basic rig that I grew up on & applied it in nearly all fishing arrangements, river, surf, creek. A bit of classic being rejuvenated is necessary today. There are so many line types, knots & lures. Lures are a totally new idea for bait for this old fella but am trying. Neat video, loved the graphics. 🎣🐟🎣🎣🇦🇺
This is an extremely popular rig for guys in Hawaii. We use this rig with curly tail grubs and strips to catch bluefin trevally and white trevally. Even the big GT will hit this rig
@@AnglerWaki they do. The smaller ones will hit the Carolina rig all day long. Around the 10”-17” sizes. The bigger GT tend to hit the hard lures. I just got a 12 pound bluefin trevally on a fly setup like a Carolina rig but instead of a lead weight, I used a tough bubble to create splashes on the surface
Hi, I like your video cause all your technic that you explained is in detail. Can you show or give me tips how to fish at the breakwater which your lure can't easily get snagged. Thank you so much
What is a good surf fishing rod I should buy? I am in Monterey bay and we have perch, striper, rock fish. I want something that is 9ft or longer (medium fast) and can throw lures far from the shore. I have a 7ft Daiwa D-Wave Medium rod which is very bad at lure throwing. Willing to spend up to 200 - 300.
I don't think I am a good person to answer this question. Surfcasting is not my primary focus. Many SoCal surf anglers are picking up Phenix Rods. I don't have it but it looks cool.
Best TH-cam angler 👍
Wow, thanks! 👍

Yeah, C-rig is classic and a bit dated... Still can be a good choice, though.
Awesome explanation with the drawings!!! top notch!!!
Thank you! Cheers! 👍

Since it was a light weight and short leader version, I tried to use it like a heavier split shot rig. Thank you for the comment. 👍
My friend use this rig but with heavy weight in the deep water about 100m for groupers and other fish .
This rig and method are very potential 🎣🐟
Very cool!
Looks like a good rig i will try it great video friend 👏👏👏

Wow. I thought everybody used hard lures to catch trevally.

I have lots of videos... Texas rig can be the one to go.👍
Can you or have you done a video on light gear shrimp imitations? Grass shrimp are the main forage in my bay but have no clue what to use.
I'd say any small shad tail lure with a jig head rid can imitate it. 👍
