    Jason you're ability goes beyond being a photographer. I think you communicate to others better than anyone on TH-cam and you clearly can do it in front of a large audience too. Keep it up brother!

    Hilarious ending! Kudos!! Hey, I don't even own Sony (yet) but.....I CRINGE watching you handle your gear! CLAWING up the side of a hard scrabble hill, both you and the A7R.....IN the dirt. That was hard to take, watching the carnage.....

    Nice tips regarding shoots (especially starting with 1 flash and add the next flash only after the first flash works great). Also like the statement that if you want to be better there should never be an excuse. Just fix the problem and do it!

    I use continuous LED lighting, but you should teach people how to use a flash, more power, more versatile, MUCH cheaper, can do stuff the rota cant, requires no assistance, and less obtrusive than some huge soft box during certain parts of a wedding. Every beginner wedding photographer should learn to master natural light first, and then a flash.

    • @JasonLanierPhotography

      You do understand the Neo 2 is smaller than a flash correct?

    • @jospehbroham6743
      @jospehbroham6743 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DSLR flashes yes, the new "made for mirrorless" flashes, no. Google Godox V350S TTL 2.4G Flash. Light weight, powerful for the size, wireless receiver and trigger, with lithium battery pack inside, or the cheaper triple a battery version.

    Ok, here's a newbie question? You're shooting outside and there is harsh sunlight on the model. You don't want to or can't recompose and put the sun to the models back, so you cut the harsh light with a diffusion panel. When you add your own light (a strobe in my case) where should you position it? Should the artificial light be coming in at the same angle as the sun or do you bring it in from a different angle?

    Can anyone help? I want to get my first light but don't want to waste money, especially since it's so much. I'm looking at the explr600. One is hss and the other is ttl + hss. The one with ttl is 200 more. Is the ttl worth the extra 200? Is it needed, sorry I have never used lights before.

    @17:00+....Actually, not to quibble, BUT.....having a monolight with some juice, say 600w....DOES matter in the scheme of things because: Unless discharged as a direct flash/unmodded to subject, you will never get the same output as advertised! Because the light is being modified. With two layers of diffusion, I lose over 1 stop. Now that 600 is a 300w unit. I can always kill light....be it natural or artificial, but it's impossible to manufacture more power when you need it, or a feature such as a faster cycle rate- offered by bigger flash units....and not having the technical ability. So guess what.....given a choice, I'd be going out w/ i.e. a Godox AD-400 or 600, and not a AD-200. Softer light= more Diffusion. More Diffusion= LESS Light Output. With a more powerful unit, you have the watts to give up- and still not miss lighting opportunities.
