PRISTIN won Rookie of the year in 2017, so they were pretty popular, one of the reasons was because Pinky and Nayoung were in the winning group of Produce 101 (I.O.I) but as they were a temporary group they disbanded in early 2017.
(That will happen as well to IZ*ONE they will disband next year😭)
Eunwoo from Pristin actually has a song with Vernon from Seventeen called Sickness(it would be nice if checked them out). Also some Pristin members r in Seventeen’s music video for Mansae. Pristin rlly deserved better. There’s rlly no explanation y they disbanded.
Also Kyla, the one u paused on In We Like just released a mini album. And 4 members of Pristin re debuted in a group called Hinapina.

It's actually pretty impressive that you recognized pristin's yuha as hinapia's gyeongwon, when hinapia debuted it was so HARD for me to believe it was her..... not only her looks (it's the hair and heavier makeup) but her whole aura changed, she used to be one of the most underrated members in pristin. She wasn't my bias but she's my hinapia bias now! I'm happy u appreciate her too..
There's also a lot of pristin x svt interactions when they all were trainees! Sadly we didn't have too many public interactions when pristin was alive but they all are/were pretty close
You probably know me as the crazy Girls Generation fan who writes essays on your comments, so this might surprise you, but at one point Pristin came really close to taking Girls Generation’s place as my favorite group, and would probably have done so had they had been giving a chance. So I’m sorry for the massive comment/rant I’m about to write, but I’m still mad at Pledis, and I’ll never not be.
What really gets me about the whole Pristin situation is how much potential they had. As much as it’s sad, I understand unknown groups from small companies disbanding after a comeback or two, but Pristin had the potential to hit it big, and I mean big. Maybe I’m biased, but I really think that given the proper promotion they could, at the very least, have had a career similar to Oh My Girl’s: a slow, but consistent rise in popularity up until they’re topping charts. So I’m gonna explain why.
1- Recognition:
Even before their debut, even before their pre-debut activities in 2016, there were already people interested in them. Xiyeon was a trainee in Pledis for 7 years, which is already a long time, but consider this: she was 17 when Pristin debuted. She had been training since she was 10, and had made several appearances in Pledis videos (Bang by Afterschool in 2010, Aing by Orange Caramel in 2010, she was even in the mv for their company song aka a song with all their artists despite the fact that she was a trainee in 2011, Love Letter by Happy Pledis). Aside from her, some of the other girls had a dance collab with the boys who would be Seventeen in 2013 and even participated in a livestream with them, and that was when their got their first international fanbase, Ladyteen (that’s what people called them).
And then, in 2016, there was Produce 101. Produce 101 was a major success for the Pledis Trainees. 7/10 of Pristin participated in Produce 101, and they made quite an impression. Out if the 7, all of them got into top64, 5 got into top35, 3 got into top22 and 2 got into the final group, IOI. Nayoung and Kyulkyung were a part of IOI for a year, and became very well known, and even the girls who didn’t get into the final group had some considerable recognition thanks to Produce.
And while Nayoung and Kyulkyung were busy with IOI, the other girls weren’t left alone in the basement. Under the name Pledis Girlz, they released a pre debut single, We (that’s when I became a fan), did vlives, held mini concerts weekly, released individual and group covers, sent Sungyeon on a show called Girl Spirit for female vocalists from underrated groups (great show btw), and even released 4 original songs. On january 2017, they held a mini concert called Bye and Hi, where they said Goodbye to Pledis Girlz and announced their new name, Pristin.
So many people were interested in them, even before their official activities began.
2- Talent
Pristin is one of the most talented groups I know of. I don’t think they ever had officially assigned positions, but they had Sungyeon, Yehana and Eunwoo who could be main vocalists in any group, Roa, Kyulkyung, Yuha (and Xiyeon tbh) who were very capable lead vocalists, Nayoung, Rena, Kyla and Xiyeon who were all rappers who brought different and interesting things to the table, as for the dance line Nayoung, Kyulkyung, Sungyeon, Yehana and Yeabin are personally my favorite dancers but they all danced so well, especially together, they had that Seventeen-like synchronization.
But aside from dancing, singing and rapping, much like Seventeen, all the members participated in the production of their albums, be it songwriting, arrangement or composing. Though they never choreographed their own music, Nayoung choreographed for her team during Produce101, and I wouldn’t have been surprised if, with time, they did that as well.
3- Chemistry
They had trained together for so long, with the shortest trainee period being of 3 years (Roa and Yuha), that it’s no wonder they had such great chemistry. Their Vlives were absolutely hilarious, and though they were still a bit shy in programs like Weekly Idol, their radio participations were super entertaining as well. It was so easy to become a fan, all you had to do was watch 1 vlive or guest starring of them in any show and you’d instantly want to know more, especially given that literally every piece of content they had was subbed thanks to the amazing fansubs of TeamLightBeam.
So yes, I’m still mad at Pledis. I don’t know why Pledis invested so much in them, and then simply gave up after a debut and a comeback. They won several rookie awards, for goodness sake!!! But instead of promoting them properly and just giving them a comeback, they just stopped. (And then took up fromis_9 and Izone under a subsidiary).
And I’ll never not be mad at Pledis.
On a brighter note, most of the girls are doing fine. Kyulkyung (or Jieqiong, her chinese name) went back to China, she’s an actress and she’s doing so well she’s on a cover of a different magazine basically every other week. Nayoung is also a model. Xiyeon is gonna have her debut as an actress soon, with an webdrama and a movie. Kyla is back in the us and she just released a solo mini album. Sungyeon is still under Pledis, she’s been on numerous Nu’est tracks as a backing vocalist, and I think she’s on the path to become a producer. Yehana is aslo still under Pledis, but she’s the only one we have no clue about, she doesn’t have social media and the last we heard of her was last year when a Pristin fan asked Gahyeon from Dreamcatcher (she’s friends with Yehana) how she was doing and she said she was okay. I really hope she is.
Yuha, Rena, Roa and Eunwoo debuted with Hinapia, as you know. They haven’t had any activities recently, but they’re very active on instagram, constantly talking with fans through stories or instalives so we can only hope.
Once again, I’m sorry about the long ass comment, but this week I found my Pristin folder in my computer, filled with photos, videos, and even edits i had made of them so my ever present Pristin deserved better mood has been especially relevant these past few days, and I needed to vent a little.
Even so, don’t hold yourself back from wanting to learn more about the group! They have some pretty solid b-sides you might want to check out, and I really like their dance practices.

Also as a mini side rant, I hate when I talk about this and people are like "chill, it's just kpop". Like yeah, it's just kpop to you and to me, but not tothem! to these 10 girls, it's their lives, it's their years of blood sweat and tears, of missing after school hang outs to train their asses off, of all nighters trying to master coreography, of straining their voices due to daily vocal lessons, of staying up till 2am trying to come up with lyrics, some of them all the while being away from home and their families! All of it in hopes of achieving their dreams! And when they finally get there, Pleids throws it all to shit??? Yes, I'll die mad about

It's legit taken me like 3 years to be ok watching their MVs again without hurting like... They're also hilarious in their lives and it generally seemed to the fans like they really enjoyed what they were doing so it was disappointing (understatement of the century) when they disbanded. Before they debuted Pristin’s members made individual and sometimes group videos where they sang or rapped on their own and they are SO GOOD if you wanna watch them! They were under Pledis Girls

I love Pristin. I got into Kpop just as they were disbanded and I'm still upset that I missed the opportunity to fight I keep them together! My favourite Pristin song is Black Widow! It's so underrated and needs to be recognized as the queen it is!

I feel like there were definitely some behind the scenes business-related reasons behind their disbandment. Like, Pristin was pretty successful and had a small but dedicated fandom, there was really no reason for the neglect unless something actively stopped them from promoting. Kyla even made a tweet in support of Pledis sometime after the disbandment annoucement (she received a lot of backlash for it though) which makes the theory even stronger.
Sometime around 2017-2018, CJE&M became Pledis' major shareholder and Pledis partnered up with Mnet (which is also owned by CJ&M). They had a deal where Pledis would be in charge of the production + provide room and staff for the next girl group that would come out of P101 (that ended up being Izone). So people speculate that Pledis couldn't promote Pristin properly in 2018 cause they would have been direct competition to Izone. And since Mnet is owned by CJE&M, CJE&M was much more invested in Izone than Pristin and, being also the major shareholder of Pledis, they probably made the final decision to cut Pristin off. Basically Pledis was kinda stupid and put themselves in an impossible situation where the decisions were taken out of their hands. This is all speculation of course but it would make sense considering that Pledis actually promoted Pristin pretty well in 2017 before suddenly putting them through a long hiatus.

you should react to the produce groups!! Produce 101 is a competition show that takes the top 10-12 of 101 trainees and debuts them as a group for a certain amount of time. i know you've reacted to iz*one (they were the group produced from season 3) but idk how much you know about the groups from seasons 1 and 2? season 1 produced ioi (girl group) and season 2 created wanna one (boy group), both are disbanded now but their music is still really good! two members of pristin (kyulkyung and nayoung) were in ioi before pristin debuted. it's really cool because a lot of the members of ioi and wanna one went on to join groups that you now know! (for example chungha was a member of ioi), so you may see some familiar faces if you react to them!!
ioi- i recommend "dream girls" "very very very" and "whatta man"
wanna one- "beautiful" (movie and performance version), "energetic", and "spring breeze"!
there was a season 4 that produced a boy group called x1, however there was a whole controversy that found that the voting was rigged, so x1 had to disband (and there probably wont be any more produce groups), since iz*one was already so popular and have been promoting for some time they were allowed to continue (not 100% sure about the facts lol) but if you want you can still check out x1's debut (and only) song, "flash"!! it's a bop :)

thank you for reacting to pristin. Oh my god I miss them sm :(. Pledis in general is really bad at managing their groups, that much is proven by how Nu'est almost disbanded 4 years ago, but they are special type of awful when it comes to their girl groups. They love to put them on unannounced hiatuses for whatever reason and just wait for them to lose fans, and when they don't, it seems they just disband them like what they did with pristin. After school was technically never disbanded officially, they were just put on hiatus until their contracts expired and they left. And now I'm scared fromis_9 is on the same path since they are co-owned by pledis and they haven't had a comeback in a year already :( From what I'm seeing it seems they like to focus on one group at a time, usually the newer or most successful group. So for Pledis that's been Seventeen and for Off the Record (co-owned by Pledis) that's Izone. I hope they get a new ceo or something so they can prevent disasters like pristin's disbandment from happening again.

I love Pristin so much. I love their music a lot, their mini albums are on repeat for a month when they were released. I'm still sad they disbanded but I'm just happy that the members are taking new paths now. Also, some of them are composers too, esp Seungyeon. She composed their title tracks and some of their other songs with Bumzu (just like Woozi does). Some members also do composing like Yehana (my bias), Roa and Eunwoo ❤. They are really talented and beautiful.

And fun facts they performed with Seventeen during trainee days also appeared in a lot of there seniors mv's and stages. Seventeen performed Bang by After School as part of their mission for Seventeen Project. Honestly I have to wonder where they would be today if Netizens hadn't bullied Kyla so badly that she went on hiatus... Pledis put the whole group on hiatus for her and then they never came off of it. Ugh. I hate people who fat shame!!!

I'm not sure why they really disbanded but a few weeks after it happened, the 1st rumors of bighit merging with an entertainment with 2 active boy groups came out. And many assumed that it would be pledis since they have Nu'est and SEVENTEEN left. So... Yeah

According to Kyla, the group decided to go their separate ways, so that’s kind of a bummer. But Pledis still has a way with not keeping girl groups together. A big example is After School. Pledis created them to be a revolving door sort of group. One member would come in and when a member was ready to leave, they would “graduate”. With this premise, After School shouldn’t have ever disbanded. It should’ve basically been a perpetual group, with new members.
Hinapia debuted, and recently it was her disband :(
You should react to Kyla Massie, she’s/was the maknae of Pristin and she recently released self made music. The songs are mostly in English since she’s American (American/Korean). She’s living with her family in The US rn. She has a TH-cam and are active on social media too. Btw her fans are called Klassie. Thanks for reacting to them tho. Idk kaia see this but pristin disbanding is one of the big issues at that time. Cuz There have been numerous fights between the member's fan who were Ioi and the fans who were not.... after some that kind of events, When Pledis producer Han Sung-soo made IZ*ONE's flower series, he emphasized "the one" more than the individual through many contents like Enozi cam u know... its because there are many IZONE contents for enjoying compare to other groups. Also, K-WIZ emphasize the ONE for maintaining group much longer ㅎㅎ. It was a sad group that revealed the problems of malicious individual fans.
No one truly knows what happened to Pristin. They were a very promising group going in. They had a successful debut and won Rookie of the year. But then things suddenly went quiet. At first they seemed to have stopped because Kyla, their maknae took a hiatus to recover from a concussion so they hada comeback as a unit Pristin V, and then almost a year went by with nothing from them. Then suddenly news drops that they're disbanding. Most of the fans are blaming Pledis for abandoning the group, but personally I think there's more to the story than just that. Because if Pledis was going to push them aside like they did with AfterSchool (thier other girl group), they likely would've just kept the group on the back burner. But instead, they decided to just disband them. Which tbh, was better than holding the girls down to a contract and not doing anything with them. Very little has been said about it, but according to Kyla who briefly spoke on it, the girls and Pledis met several times and after going back and forth over their options, they ultimately decided it was best if they disband. In the end, 7/10 girls chose to leave the company, 4 girls redebuted as HINAPIA, Kyla seems to be doing her own thing in America, recently releasing a solo mixtape. There's a lot of speculation of what happened so I'd say you should read and take everything with a grain of salt. There's a lot of finger pointing of who's at fault and unfortunately, we may never know the truth since they're likely contractually bound to keep certain details a secret.
I'm NEVER getting over this disband. Also, never forgiving Pledis for its poor management. These songs used to make me happy listening to, but now i feel a little sad and angry everytime thinking about everything the girls had to go through :\
This was one of Pledis' biggest fxxkups. They wasted so much talent (After School, Nuest, Pristin), it's honestly a miracle Seventeen is still going. I was so excited when Pristin debuted and hoped they would get big (which would have happened, if Pledis did their job).

Honestly, I don't understan AT ALL what happened. Even trying to see from pledis' point it makes no sence to me - girls started pretty good, they had very VERY popular members from ioi so public attention was there, songs were catchy and as all pledis artist they were great on stage + pledis definitely put money into them you know - mvs looked great. Girls won ROTY thw. So they were bringing money or at least they didn't waste pledis' money and could actually gain more with time. And considering how much money and work was already put into these girls (they've been training for years!) why would you throw all this away? There are way less popular and profitable groups who still on and having comebacks, i just don't understand. Pledis even can't say "we wanted to concentrate on our bgs" as the excuse because, let's be real, pledis is the only agency who have such independent artists that need little to no attention concidering putting out music - just leave the boys for 2 months on the hiatus and you will get another masterpiece album! There were only 2 problems - Kyla's very needed hiatus and Xiyeon's leg injury - and both of them were solved with Pristin V's debut so both girls had time to heal and come back. Then why didn't anything happened for a whole year, then Nayoung said briefly that they're working on the album and then - disbandment news? So much wasted potential, so much wasted money and another spot on pledis' reputation. There should be some inside problems because NO ONE CAN BE THAT DUMB

So basically, one of the members (Kyla) got f*tshamed for literally being built like a normal teenage girl and then on top of that she had health issues so she went back to her family in the United States for awhile to recover. It didn't help that Pledis did absolutely nothing to stop antis from sending hate. Basically after that it was all downhill from there. Pristin V debuted as a subunit so some of us had hope that Pledis was maybe just waiting for Kyla to return in order to have a full group comeback, but after that they were completely silent on anything having to do with Pristin. There were rumors that one of the members, Xiyeon, had left the group earlier on but Pledis denied everything until they officially disbanded. Most of the members left the company but a few stayed. Kyulkyung, one of the members who did stay, is now trying to leave and now there's a whole lawsuit going on. As you already know some of the members are now in Hinapia and Kyla is a normal teenager living with her family in the US. She actually just released her own EP, but I'm not sure if it's actually under any companies. I think it's just a solo project she did. Pristin's disbandment was such a shame because they had SO much potential and they were extremely popular from the moment they debuted (even before they debuted). Two of the members were in IOI and at the time, Pristin was the most successful artist to come out of a Produce 101 group, which is kinda crazy because most of the artists who come out of groups like IOI, Wanna One, Iz*one, etc, haven't been very successful. They even won Rookie of the Year which is HUGE. If Pledis hadn't completely fucked them over and just invested a little more money and time into them then I have no doubt in my mind that they would be up there with Red Velvet and Twice right now. As someone who followed Pristin from debut, I will never forgive Pledis for what they did to those poor girls. Sorry for ranting I'm just mad.

I’m suddenly so sad again 😭😭😭 Pledis really screwed up their girl groups, After School and PRISTIN 😭 Pristin also released “We” as a pre-debut song and that song used to be so exciting and cheerful but now it’s just so sad 😭
Pristin was actually preparing for a comeback then they were just informed that “they had no choice but to disband”.
It is a real shame that Pristin disbanded. I was not a fan of the singles they released but I could see how talented this group was. They had a lot pre debut covers and dance covers under Pledis Girls that showed their singing and dancing skills. Anyways Pledis is just a trouble company they always seem to be in some financial bind of some sort or another and their groups just suffer because of mismanagement.

Pledis shamefully have bad management, they couldn’t handle having multiple groups and they are pretty stingy. Like they are making so much profit from SVT and Nuest they could invest their money into making their company bigger.

pledis is literally wasting talent. also one of the youngest member, xiyeon, literally spent half of her life training on the company. she spent a whole 9 years just to get 2 mini album in a span of 2 years

Ironic that Pledis was built and saw success because of their female acts (Son Dambi, After School) and yet they paid Pristin dust. Pledis always had problems with managing their artists from the very start, what with all the problems with AS, stifling NUEST's growth and delaying Seventeen's debut 🤦♀️ How HSS is still in charge of their company, I honestly do not know.
