Been watching your videos for a bit now. Nice to see you head east and come check out what CNY has to offer! I have been out of that spot a few times and its been so busy at the beginning of the season that the fish have been so timid. Had to really work them to get them to bite. Been having the best luck right before dark after most people are heading back in. I was west of there on Saturday and had the same issue. Hope to see you back to Oneida with more videos!
Appreciate you watching and the info! We’ll give it a try! We have plans to possibly do an overnight on the ice and if we do, I will be sure to make a video on that! Been trying to get to Oneida for years so at least we made it happen! 😀👍
Those were some massive perch. Great video. I’ve been wanting to start ice fishing again but the winters just haven’t been. Of course now it gets cold. Thanks for taking me along
I haven't been out there to ice fish ever too. I go to sodus usually for perch but lots of dinks there. Oneida definitely has some good perch and walleye it seems like. Loved the hunting and fishing videos you do. Thanks for taking the time putting them together
Yeah, me too. I waited years to finally get to this lake. There are a lot of access points open to the public. Just gotta get there early before they fill up.!!!
Great job guys we were on Oneida last week tons of perch came in but would not hit bluebird day how deep are you fishing ? Looks like you were at Chapman where we were
Yeah, that’s where we were. It was very mixed reports for the people around us. A lot of people were not catching fish, but a few were hammering them. I think it just depends on if you were on feeding fish or not. It pays to move around and know this lake. You can use the same thing as someone else and do completely different… and we were in approximately 22 feet
Yeah, it gets COLD! 🥶 it’s a fun thing to do, but it gets old quick sometimes when the weather picks up, especially and it’s a long walk, dragging equipment if you don’t have a machine.. I would probably trade it all to move to Florida and do nothing more than saltwater fishing someday 😂👍
Sure. We walked out of Chapman Park, which is on the south shore. There are a lot of access points all around the lake for the public. This place seems to be pretty busy though and parking is very limited FYI.
Yeah, we had about 5 inches while we were there. I believe it’s more now. Just gotta be careful with the pressure cracks. Buffalo Harbor is finally fishable. They have been getting a lot of of pan fish and perch in a few pike from what I’ve heard
One thing I’ve learned on Oneida is the fish like to chase like lakers get their attention and slowly take the bait away a lot of times they will crush it next time try some jig raps with minnow heads another good one is a acme rattle master or a northland glo shot spoon ill probably be heading out there this weekend I love that lake
Sweet! Thank you for the information. I’ve only finished it twice Now. We went again after making this video and did about the same… definitely have some things to learn about this Lake, especially with the walleyes. We will be back again soon. I’m sure! Thanks for watching. Appreciate the view and comment.
Sure. We went out of Chapman Park, which is on the South Shore. There are a lot of access points all around the lake that the public can get on the lake from just gotta watch out for private property and limited parking at some spots that feel very quickly even before it gets light out.
I sure can. Chapman Park on the South Shore. It’s a tough area to get in and out of. If you don’t get there extremely early you will not get a parking spot fyi! Appreciate the comment and view!
Never have. I’ve heard of them being caught in this lake. I know they stocked them at various areas, but never actually seen one caught. Thanks for the comment and for watching.! 😎
From what I hear it is between 6 to 8 inches on the South Shore. Not sure about other areas. I have not heard it being that thick yet. Definitely some pressure cracks so you need to watch out for though somewhere were getting wider in machines could not get over them
I grew up fishing without one.. but for this lake, it’s almost necessary.. some of the guys I was with had them or the garmin striker 4 which showed a Mark pretty well. If we are going just for perch or other pan fish, we use underwater cameras. But yes, we need a flasher.Asap it’s on the list!!! 😀
Seems to be the situation on Oneida. Some guys are on them and catching active feeding fish and some guys just simply are not on the feeding fish. We marked the lot and saw a lot on camera that simply would not take any bait whatsoever no matter what you did with it
Chapman Park on the South Shore. Like I’ve told other viewers that have asked- it can be very limited parking and frustrating to get in and out of if you are not there extremely early.
Very cool video ice fishing is back !!!
Yes it is!!! It’s been a few years! Thanks for watching, 😎

My family had a place on Oneida Lake for 40 years. Beautiful lake!
It's a beautiful lake to fish, especially in the winter! 😀👍

Nice I’m in ct and I did pretty good yesterday all yellow perch😂😂So funny
Sweet! I hear the ice fishing is decent out that way also this year finally. Good luck this season and thanks for watching!!! 😎
Nice perch, I'm not a hard water fisherman. I went once as a teenager and got frostbite on my ears and toes and that was enough for me, Lol.

Was wondering where you walked out from heading there this weekend for my first time ever

Planning to hit up Oneida soon!! Which clam hut is that?
This was the Clam X 600 thermal. It’s a super nice insulated shanty. Highly recommend! 😀👍 appreciate the comment and view!!!
Do you mind sharing where you went out from? I’m in Binghamton and am planning on going to Oneida for my first time soon!
Sure. We went out of Chapman Park, which is on the South Shore. There are a lot of access points all around the lake that the public can get on the lake from just gotta watch out for private property and limited parking at some spots that feel very quickly even before it gets light out.
I want to try Oneida lake. Can you tell me where you parked and how far of a walk out is it?
I sure can. Chapman Park on the South Shore. It’s a tough area to get in and out of. If you don’t get there extremely early you will not get a parking spot fyi! Appreciate the comment and view!
👍
The DEC drags nets to "sample' the walleye population
Ask me how I know......Central NY is awesome for ice fishing
That’s cool. Yeah, New York is a great place to hunt and fish. Just wish the taxes weren’t as high as they were… appreciate you watching!
Where on Oneida is this
Out of Chapman Park
Fish were really negative this past weekend on oneida
It was tough for us. I can see how this lake is a lake you need to learn and get some experience on to do well! Appreciate you watching!
It’s called Chapman Park
Ever got an Atlantic through the ice?
Never have. I’ve heard of them being caught in this lake. I know they stocked them at various areas, but never actually seen one caught. Thanks for the comment and for watching.! 😎
Ice report says there’s 10-13” is that true? Idk when this video was filmed
From what I hear it is between 6 to 8 inches on the South Shore. Not sure about other areas. I have not heard it being that thick yet. Definitely some pressure cracks so you need to watch out for though somewhere were getting wider in machines could not get over them
How can you fish with out a vexlar

Didn't see one perch
