This video is a 16 minute boss speech where The Hero of Kvatch excitedly reads a spreadsheet to an increasingly nervous Mehrunes Dagon before disintegrating him with flare.
And then he wakes up... “Hey, you. You’re finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there.”
You could headcanon that Martin is just doing all this in the background when you bring him all the magical artifacts, building a single ridiculous effect to use on dagon
I am doing just that, since I found this channel a few days ago. Got a couple UI and mods for window borderless, and my Breton spellsword character is taking shape. 👍
Haha actually? The weakness spreadsheet is more just a display of information, not a functional spreadsheet. Later when I’m at my computer I can link the spell cost calculator one if you’re actually interested, that one functions, I just left out the area multiplier because I wasn’t worried about that when I was making it
I recently started playing oblivion just to see if I can finish the game with the difficulty slider maxed out. This couldn’t have been more perfect timing.
Get destruction up to 50, the high elf couple in the market district (the woman) sells the weakness to magic spell. Oh and use poisons to get to that point
So I did max. difficulty in Oblivion a few months ago and I figured that I might wanna make it a Lv. 1 run as well. Destruction magic with fireball and a little cheese got me through the tutorial. From there I went with summons, especially the headless zombie is a very solid tank and dps option early into the game. Summons do not scale, so they are most effective when your own level is low. Level scaling in Oblivion is very much not in favor of the player afterall. :D Talking about cheese. I did not finish the main quest that time, but made it through the Arena quite easily by entering the fights, immediately turning right and jumping up a pillar, then summoning my zombie to finish them off. Can be tricky vs. the archers and mages though! Cheers! :)
Thanks for these really informative videos! Imo the Weakness to Magic stacking , while a powerful strat , undermines the game design -- It basically solves almost every encounter - It's a shame more combat routes/balance weren't implemented but that's understandable . I'd like to see the 'cheesy' stuff totally balanced/rethought and wouldn't mind a new standard of default-settings if they can fix some of the jankyness - some mods I've found do pretty much that and while I love vanilla Oblivion I prefer these updated ways of playing it .
I don't fully understand that second chart you did where you got a damage multiplier in the thousands. Is it because casting weakness to magic between two different spells causes the weakness spell effect of the new spell to be effectively multiplied by the weakness spell effect of the previous spell? Like the first 100% weakness causes the second 100% weakness to become 200% weakness?
@@ArvelDreth the enemy will have a total weakness effect on them, which is the 2 spells added together. Every time you cast a spell it’s magnitude will be multiplied based on the weakness of the target (300% weakness is a x4 multiplier). That is why weakness to magic stacks and refreshes, rather than just refreshes duration. Weakness to fire is just along for the ride, but total damage is multiplied by both weakness multipliers
@theoldknight85 gotcha, so I was on the right track in my thinking then (even if I maybe didn't explain it super well). That makes sense, honestly I'm fairly certain I have already unintentionally done this before many, many years ago not long after release, but didn't realize it because I was probably 10 or something.
@ sure. I’ll do a video demonstration after Christmas. I’ll be on my phone for comments but I’m going to be away from my computer for today and tomorrow
I personally don't think you're breaking the game by stacking the spells. The effect is doing exactly what it's intended to do. A target that is weak to magic will be even more weakened by a weakening spell, and even more weakened by another after that. It just makes logical sense for that to be the case, which is why i consider it to be legit and not cheating.
@theoldknight85 That's fair. I personally wouldn't do the one where you switch between 2 identical weakening spells, because the numbers do get ridiculously high.
I have a question : if you play an ice spellsword with chillrend and weakness to frost as a spell will the effect of chillrend and spell stacks and give a big boost to frost dmg ?
@@LostIzaa115 they will stack additively. If you have a 50% weakness to frost and a 75% weakness to frost from another source the enemy will have 125% weakness and take 2.25x damage
@ I think the brothers can be difficult to save at high levels. Any custom enchant could include weakness as well. I like to use weakness spells and have my weapon just pure damage, but to each their own. Chillrend I think is most useful that early-mid game level 10-15ish when you need a good power spike.
ok so the games mechanics are just broken 😂😅 bethesda 😂😂😂 its like the fortify restoration exploit in skyrim i remember many years ago creating a capped damage iron dagger and one hitting absolutly everything its fun doing it the first time but i think such fundamentally broken mechanics are kind of demotivating i like optimizing my builds in any rpg but discovering just cheesy broken stuff takes away from that fun in my opinion anyway nice video and very good explanation 👍🏻
