    @23:40 That few seconds monologue did it for me!
    I have seen comments from several people in TH-cam that say that going camping with their spouse saved their marriage. Before, they had quit the relationship, and just going out camping reinvigorated their relationship and gave it new life.
    I believe your monologue gives a good explanation as to why this works. We can become so accustomed to the good things in life that we become arrogant and take them for granted. That arrogance doesn’t allow us to enjoy life meaningfully. Being humble and appreciating life and the things that you do for each other will make you a better person.
    Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!

    I think they like each other.
    Death Valley: the name itself keeps it from getting overcrowded.
    Let's all hope it stays that way. Desert rats are a rare breed by necessity.

    OMG, we camped at Stovepipe Wells at the same time! That’s my Van at 9:30-9:38. I go to DV a couple times a year and yes, it is a wedding destination. One morning I was out photographing south of stovepipe wells and there was a couple having their engagement photos taken out on the valley floor.

    I was just camping there 2 weeks ago, my 1st visit and wow, I'm still thinking about it. That place is absolutely vast and beautiful if you're a fan of the desert as am I. I barely put a dent in it so I'll be back very soon. On the Western side you can get up in the Panamint range and get some elevation and there's hiking and interesting adventuring to be had there too. I liked your Valley Of Fire video last week and that inspired me to concoct a loop through Death Valley, then out to Valley of fire and back down home for my next go. If you're heading West and haven't been to Lone Pine before maybe treat yourself to a night in Alabama Hills. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The views on the drive to 395 out of DV are absolutely stunning and there's history along the way. And not too far out of the park there may be a specific Joshua Tree to go visit. Poke around some e-maps for that. Have fun!

    There is actually many places that have water!
    Panamint springs has a beautiful waterfall. Since you have 4 wheel drive about two miles behind the falls is a pond full of goldfish! Yes really. Let’s not forget scotty’s castle! Sooo much to see! Great video!

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very Interesting! Yes, sooo much to see...and we only spent 3 days there. Scottys castle rd was closed so we didnt get to go up that way. We did do Salt creek to see the pup fish...but didn't see any! Thanks for watching!

  • @craigwflys

    Went camping there about 25 years ago in December and it was still quite warm. The salt flats reminded me like what it might be like to be on another planet (Moon or Mars). I remember the highways had a huge grade to them and the elevation was something like 300 feet below sea level which is probably why it's so hot. Furnace Creek is quite an appropriate name. I think just last year it hit 130 degrees in the summer 🥵

Death Valley was amazing. We did a day drive back to “The Racetrack” in our Jeep Wrangler. Such a good time. Hope that your foot mends quickly. Chris is doing great driving the rig! Safe Travels.

    I hope you looked up on the rock "wall" which would be on your left before you turned in to park at Badwater or in front of you as you are walking back to the car after walking out on the flats. You can look up at about a 40degree angle an see a sign that says "sea level". really puts it into perspective.

    You are in my neck of the California desert and it is beautiful. Did you know that from Bad Water Basin, the lowest point in north America to Mt Whitney, the highest point in the lower 48 is just 135 miles? There is a bicycle race every year that travels from Bad Water to the Mt Whitney portals over 2 days (I personally think they are crazy). Also don't miss Scotty's Castle it is very interesting (my kids did a field trip to the castle when they were in the 4th grade).

    We boondocked at Desert Campground, an abandoned mobile home camp that was home for miners years ago. Free, level, dry camping, on concrete pads, 5.7 miles away from the Death Valley sign. Went there planning to stay 2-3 days and ended up staying a week. Loved DV.

    FYI, when you were stopped at artist palette at 20:08 you were at a Star Wars filming location. If you look down the wash from the parking area (west north west) you’re looking into what’s now known as Artoo's Arroyo to Star Wars fans.
    It’s the location where R2-D2 is first seen in the desert wash of Tatooine after separating from C3P0.
    Creeping slowly towards the camera, all alone, danger lurking... WATCH OUT R2!

    Hi Chris and Aaron! Wow….what a treat! Thank you for highlighting Death Valley! This place is really high on my bucket list. Just have to figure out how to make it work. Chris..your summary at the end about RVing and appreciating the basics is really spot on! I had been deployed for approximately 5 years, on and off, of course, in the second half of my career. My living space for those times was either a cot and 1 side to the next cot, or would be a bed with 2 or 3 feet on 1 side. Depending on the accommodations, it would either be 1 big open room, or we could drape a poncho between the next bed. And, I also used to live in my 1967 17 ft Roadrunner travel trailer. There is just so much stuff we accumulate in life that doesn’t matter…….and one can still have a fulfilling life with the basics.
    Can’t wait to see the rest of your Death Valley tour!

      Hello 👋! It was a Wednesday we came in and there was well over 100 sites to Open…. Maybe even 200 as I think the max is 270 and it was pretty empty. Furnace creek was just as empty as we drove by and I read on the NPS website there is almost always open first come first serve spots at those two . All of the full hookup sites are usually booked well in advance. Only 3g service in the campground and slow Wi-Fi at the restaurant. Enough to slowly load email, texts, etc. No phone calls or heavy web pages. You’ll be fine on Monday… have fun!!😊

    Are you ever worried about having your trailer stolen when you leave it? There’s a TH-cam couple I follow Dome Life that had their trailer stolen at a Camp Ground when they had left it

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don’t worry too much about that. But we do have a good tongue lock to help deter theft, Wi-Fi cameras, and rely on situational awareness too. Dome life’s trailer was very small and light and think those are more common for theft. I’ve not really heard of Many RVs being stolen and you would have to be targeted for that to happen. Not really a crime of opportunity so much…… We do the best we can for deterrent and don’t worry about it. Life’s too short to live in fear!😊
