Fun fact, in lore, it was simply a random waddle dee that stole his cake. If you look at a screencap of the blur in squeak squad, you can clearly see a waddle dee!

I do see the irony in Squeak Squad ignoring the games that came before it (Dark Matter trilogy), only for the games to come after squeak squad to pretty much ignore that game too (until SA). It’s poetic.

@@durandlewis1382t really, every kirby game after Return to dreamland has used the formula since RTDL. The only difference is the game's Main mechanic like the Friendship hearts, mecha suit and hypernova.
Y'know, I never considered when or why the animal buddies were phased out, but that was scarily compelling.

I feel like Squeak Squad was really good in concept, but was probably not well executed due to Flagship (the developers) declining financially. You can tell they really tried with the game having 200+ unused rooms still completely intact, but the weight of their company falling probably get the best of them. I believe it was also rushed, but don’t quote me on that. I feel that if the game did more with power ups, added more item combinations, and maybe went for a more metroidvania approach like in Amazing Mirror (along with access to special areas with specific powers, including mixes), it would have been a really good game. I still enjoy it though!

I mean animal was such a perfect ability for an amazing mirror like kirby game and the increased amounts of treasure would have been so fun to find
I guess that’s what led to different games after this, and well… yeah.
Another reason why I think it it wasn't executed well was because of the departure of thr Kirby creator, Masahiro Sakurai.

I notice that King Dedede and Meta Knight are approached very oppositely in the video.
Like, King Dedede was on the receiving end of a pragmatic fight while Meta Knight's on the giving end.
Kirby Squeak Squad was my first ever exposure to the pink marshmallow outside of Super Smash Bros Melee. As a kid, I loved it to its core, and I still do today. I can diffidently understand why people don't like this game nowadays, heck, some may say that it is Kirby's worst. However, despite the repetitive storyline, despite the absence of most of Kirby's friends in said storyline, despite how easy all of the bosses are when you have Tornado, and despite the uninspired and overly simple level design (heck I memorized most of the levels in my head from playing extra mode dozens of times), it still holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite Kirby games. The fact that you can change the color of Kirby (even though Amazing Mirror did the same thing and is far better by knowledge) is amazing. The pink puffball is iconic don't get me wrong, but a game that allowed me to play as a Kirby of my favorite color is an automatic win for me. You could say that its nostalgia talking, but my point still stands. This video is still hilarious in its own right, but my love for this game will not be suppressed.

After replaying Squeak Squad recently... this is perfectly accurate.
Nice job on these Kirbys, they fill in the void left by classic smg4 pretty nicely
Only advice I'd give is not aknowledging time constraints and budget that often within the content, they tend to age poorly

As someone who legit loves Squeak Squad, I wholly agree with this video.
Yeah, the Final Boss didn't have anything to do with the plot, really; it was like "Hey, I'm out! Welp, guess I'll cause some chaos!"
But ya gotta admit, that Strawberry Shortcake looked SALIVATING so I'd say it was worth it. 😋

Yeah, mostly on the level design. However, Super Star, predicted how kirby can make foes transform into he's allies. 😅

Yeah, definitely an accurate representation of Squeak Squad. 😋 This game was just a bit bit bland and uninspired especially for a Kirby game. It felt too by-the-numbers and not particularly memorable. To be honest, the plot was just kind of stupid as well. 😅
I think this is the last game Flagship made before they folded, so I'm guessing they had a diminished budget, rushed development, or a bit of both.
In other games, Kirby explores new dimensions and worlds or helps someone in need. In this game, the plot is basically getting your cake back. The Dark Nebula twist came too late in the game.
