Sure, the quality is better, and at some points the memey-ness is dialed back a little in favor of some actual story, but there's rarely a full episode that really is SEVERELY less memey and random than the old ones. Seriously, you still couldn't show modern SMG4 videos to your grandma without having her think you've completely lost it. ANd if it's things like the few romance segments (which, really, are only Melony and Axol and sometimes a few subtle hints between Mario and Meggy)... yeah, I get that, it's not for everyone. For some ppl that might seem cringey. But it's really not like that takes over a clear majority of the modern episodes, lol.
