I put this in to practice yesterday over 9 holes and hit a number of draws with my driver! Never done this before and to put a cherry on top scored 5 over par 🤙👍
I've been "coming over the top" since I started playing. No matter what I tried I couldn't stop myself from doing it. This is the best video I've seen to sort it out. As always Marcus you keep it simple and don't over complicate it.
Just get a sense of how the GRF board rocks to create the momentum to swing the two clubs. You'll notice how much earlier you use the board and let the clubs react. By leading the action with the rocking of the board you're shifting pressure early to help create the draw swing 👍
As an over the top swinger ( ooh err) this is killing my game as I have typically three outcomes 1) Classic slice/ cut on the ball with little gain after 6 iron 2) a pull/ smothered shot left that goes longer 3) dead straight good hit going where it should. The frustration and inconsistency aaargh! Just over half way through a set of lessons and 6 holes booked with the pro this weekend for him to get a good view of my game and not just on the range. Fingers crossed we get a plan moving forward prior to the season proper starting.
@@GRFGolf I’m now the proud owner of a swing video where I don’t go over the top as much😂 Like highlighted in the video I’ll be working on this for a long time but the first session was a success, from hitting down steep and squeezing out fades I was hitting baby draws with my only thought being about tying to make the swing feel the same as it does with the two club drill. Love your guys work, making working on the golf swing simpler with instant results 🙌🏼
Hi, this is pretty much the same as what Matt Jones PGA tour does, grabbing the ground with soft arms allowing the catapult effect. He hits draws with no swing thoughts other than soft arms and weight shift awareness. Thanks for the post 😊
Another fantastic video Marcus 👍 Bizarrely I had a bit of OTT this weekend, very unusual! But the timing of this vid is perfect and gives me something to work on through the week. Would this be a drill to carry out on my GRFI board or better just using the ground to tune the awareness?
What’s the relationship between the wrist and the feet in that exercise? On the video it’s looks like wrists leading that as much as the feet. I struggle with a flat backswing and wonder if that wrist hinge exercise could be an effective counter.
While I have more of a block/hook pattern, I really like this drill for addressing that version of an over-active trail side, as well. One question: I find keeping the clubs parallel fairly easy, but my trail club invariably releases a few degrees more closed even when I feel like it's all momentum and no "steer". Is that a common issue and if so, is the culprit more often grip or an imperceptibly active trail forearm rotation?
Keep it at a low intensity Ryan and see if you can get your desired pattern. Then slowly raise the intensity and see what emerges. Without being there I'd be guessing! So see if you can get extra acute with your awareness with this drill in motion.
I tried this drill a lot today and I could control both club faces in parallel easily. At the top they were both square, down to impact they were square. I could also do the tasks in your other video, stopping them at 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock etc. what would you suggest as I’m still over the top, early extending and hitting a lot of shanks
@@GRFGolf Thanks! Do you have links to any videos you recommend? My main problem is my trail hip firing forward, i cannot keep it back at all. It feels like a waste of practice time focussing on hip drills as i just can't implement it into my swing so i never really hit the ball any better
It looks like using two clubs keeps the back to the target longer which will truly help a slicer. Many of us rush to get our shoulders square to the target line not realizing that the swing will bring us into the same position if we keep our back more to the target.
It's a bit of a falsy I never slice the ball which is the usual ball flight but if your HOTT that's different too many confused about this I think Marcus classic Tom Watson
Your problem is you have no idea about the golf swing and keep jumping from one nonsense ‘secret’ or ‘cure’ to the next and if anyone that actually understands the golf swing tries to help you, you block them. You’ll never cure your Swing because your to stubborn to listen 🤷♂️
Be careful with this video, i say the head cover come out and was about to click off the video (seen it all before) luckily you took it away and moved on before i clicked away.
I can't wait to try this with my students! All credit will go to you of course!

I have been looking for my over the top getting steep I will give this a go thanks as always
Hes the best golf coach hands down this is genius 👏
Great video thanks kinda looks like a topspin down the line shot for tennis
this drill really highlighted that I have been lacking "wrist hinge" & "blocking" my arm thankyou

Was it able to fix ya
Very good Marcus. That and the side bend one are both very good.
Going to stand there and do the 2 club dance excercise asap. Might catch on as the new dance craze 🤣 Great video, enjoyed. 👏👍
Absolutely Brilliant!!!
Love the sensation produced with the two clubs. It feels so right. Which part of the GRF user video best addresses this topic

Once again a fantastic lesson. Marcus you make your lessons easy to comprehend. Thank you.
It's a pleasure and I appreciate you taking the time to comment, sir

Fantastic lesson again, very helpful and enjoyable.
Thanks, Paul!
I experience this every time pick up a golf club
Great video, brilliantly explained, excited to work on this through the week🙌🏼
Let me know how you get on!

Great video, really enjoying your old and new videos👍👌
Thanks Martin, glad you're enjoying them and hope they're helping your game 👍
Thank you for the tip ,will be practicing this 👍🥃🇨🇦
Good luck Tom 👍
Nice one, thanks coach.
No probs!
Hi Marcus thanks for this, could I ask you do a video on the face of the club and how to stop it from being open at impact?
Coming soon 😉

So that's why my longer irons bunch up!! Thanks Marcus.
Yep, it's a common phenomenon. Bit of understanding helps us play around with it 👊
@@GRFGolf and it explains why trying to hit it harder doesn't help.

Defo use this on the GRFi Paul 👍
I’m having the opposite problem! My long clubs are great but my short clubs 9i and wedges are weak high and right? Help
Nice one!
Cheers Neil!

Pay attention to how your forearms/wrists react to the to momentum from the body and clubhead 👍

Club awareness must be good to keep the clubs in sync so body awareness is where I would explore using the body movement exercises for sequencing 👍

I got really good at the headcover drill, after months of practice I could slice the headcover 150yards🤦♂🤦♂🤣🤣
😂😂😂
How can I book a lesson with you ? Your diary is full for January and there are no facility for booking .in February or later .
I'm booked up till June but will be opening a few slots up soon 👍
Good
How can I arrange a personal lesson?
The link to the online booking system is in the video description 👍

4 iron and 6 iron brace yourselves here we go
The famous £30 headcover, up for destruction, drill, dumbest golf lesson ever. Well done Marcus for debunking this myth.

I recognise it but as soon as I step over that ball. Gone
Keep your back to the target longer. Over the top cured. lol
If that works then great
