Will ALWAYS rememebr my one and Only ever trip I took with my uncle to Waikiki, if correct we flew from Either Oakland or San Francisco airport, and once we got there, we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, guess you can call them the Twin Towere of Waikiki, got a room Facing the ocean on the 38th floor of one of the towers which gave us priority to the hotels Rooftoo pool, you had to insert your special room key into the elevators slot, cause if you didnt, the Elevator wouldnt go above a certain floor, for the first 4 days traveled all around the area, then on the final day, we actually rented a Ford Mustang Convertible, and drove it completely around the Island, then on either Sat or Sunday we flew back home, really nice trip

Thank you so much! My mom is laying in what probably the last bed she’ll lay, I’m visiting her is hospice and wanted to serenade her with my mediocre ukulele skills. Though I have never been she told me of her trips to Hawaii back in the 1960’s. While chasing down lyrics to sing to her I found this video. I can’t thank you enough for taking us to Waikiki together finally!

Gorgeous. Thank you for reminding me so vividly of the experience of being on holiday on Oahu. I highly recommend the Hawaiian Islands for a holiday-- and everyone ought to get the hell out of Waikiki whilst they're there! Oahu is NOT Waikiki, so much history and culture to learn about, not to mention the breathtaking scenery once you leave the main tourist drag. The Bishop Museum is a MUST, as is the Iolani Palace tour and the planetarium visit. So much to see and do! I love videos like this, ones that with the sound levels set up really well, not just during the live recording but carefully calibrated in post-production. So much detail and work can go into these deceptively simple walking tour videos and most people are totally unaware and think you press a button, shoot and upload all with the camera and mic set up on 'factory settings/idiot auto settings'. Well, I for one am aware of how hard it is to make a REALLY GOOD walking tour video and I thank you sincerely for your skills, sound artistic judgement and natural flair. When you get the sound, the pacing and all that stuff right it is so evocative and intensely absorbing for the viewer; it felt like I was there! I'd love to go back, gorgeous part of the world. I love walking tours because there's not stupid obnoxious disco music blaring over everything. :D

As an Australian navy sailor once and four RIMPACs you can't beat this place for girls and fun in the sun. I always stayed at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel every weekend of our three month visits and The Rose and Crown pub moose mcgillycuddy's shore birds and fort derussy etc.......

My dad was stationed at Scolfield barracks when I was 5. We lived in Hawaii for three years and this was our favorite beach. Also my brother and sister was born there

I was stationed here in the military, for 6 yrs. I lived in Waikiki,lewers st. And in Kaneohe and Hawaii Kai from 18 to 23 yrs. Old it was awesome. The Hawaiian people are totally cool, all the island type people are really cool.

Hi Freddy! Make sure you take the bus to the Bishop Museum. It's usually quiet so you can actually take your time and study everything there, it's far more interesting than you're currently imagining. They had an extra exhibition there when I last went; the History of Surfing! They had these great interactive displays that you could 'play' with, puzzles and tests and other sensory things like cubes with pictures of popular Hawaiian natural objects which were fragranced so you can familiarise yourself with how certain tropical plants smell etc. There was a surfboard that you stand on and try whilst watching a TV monitor showing digital footage of Duke's longest ride to shore on his longboard; you have to time yourself and see if you can keep from falling off and hold your balance for the duration, ha! Kids won't be bored and adults will have a huge volume of really fascinating, far more serious historical artefacts and information to absorb. I HIGHLY recommend a rainforest walking tour. Ask the hotel about these, they're EXCELLENT. A good guide will not just take you on a gorgeous light hike, but they'll teach you about the island as you walk and experience things first hand, teach you all sorts of things that only a local possibly could. Oh, and the Iolani Palace is a must too if you're interested in history and enjoy architecture. Lastly of course, Hanauma Bay. MUST. Hope you have an amazing time. One of my trips was in September and it was PERFECT.

Wow, this is so beautiful 😍 My dream vacation is in Hawaii.
I used to wonder why the Hawaiian flag has the United Kingdom's 'Union Jack' flag incorporated into THEIR national flag. There's so much to see in Hawaii, aside from incredible rainforests, the touristy Waikiki beach stuff...the royal palace, for starters. And the BIshop Museum so you can learn about the extraordinary and rarely talked about traditions, history and cultural quirks of the Islands. Faaaaascinating. I really hope you get to go soon Brittany-- you'll have a much better time than you imagine. Like when you go to Japan; Japan explodes people's brains it's just sooooooo much better than people imagine it will be. Good luck saving and organising. One day, huh? :D

This is actually part of the hotel, but the safest way for your young children to enjoy the water and the beach.

the grace of God was at play during the creation, not just of the magnificent American heartland, but here especially, in Hawaii, America's pacific pearl jewel.
Ironically, the Waikiki area was swamp land and what we see here today was created by man. They still have to dredge sand and bring it in from offshore to have a beach.
Not so in Serbia though, eh?

I was shocked to see so much sand erosion has occurred just past Halekulani, in front of the Outrigger. There used to be a nice sized beach there for people to use.
Yes, Waikiki use to be very nice, but not anymore, very overrated, and not well kept. Lived there for 6 years. The entire state has gone down tremendously.

@@JohnSmith-dm1wo Right in front of the Outrigger some sand erosion has made a much smaller beach area, but don't worry about it. If you move just a little ways away the beach is plenty big, and there is lots of beach nearby. They may also have replenished the sand by now in that area. They periodically pump more sand from farther out in the ocean to beef up the beach areas. You will have fun. Aloha.
