See the way Femi Falana is discussing energy policy in such a competent manner even though he’s no expert on the subject matter such common sense issue that has escaped Minister Adelabu. We deserve better.
Our Minister of Power has not cared to learn or improve himself on the subject matter. He doesn’t even discuss energy policy on any forum.
He’s more concerned about lobbying for the power sector as if he’s a shareholder. He’s the most incompetent minister we have. We deserve better honestly.

You're right, the Lawyer speaks very well and sound capable, but attimes it's easier said than done.
I'm not in support of the stupid talk of Adelabu minister.
He's just a banker, young , though an industrialists, but lack the zeal and capability to drive the ministry's challenges.
He's just taken a job that will soil his political reputation.

The Didcos paid too much for less and realise that us was not viable and sustaining the debt profile for acquiring the asset. Those assets are now liability to the discos. Take a tour of the distribution network since 10 years ago. Consumers buys armour cables to connects transformer, repair and replace bad cable on poles, we pay for work to carried out by the discos, pay to reokaxe old malfunctioning meters, we pay for light/electricity we don't use through estimated billing. Please tell me what is it we don't pay for to have electricity?

  • @femihassan738
    @femihassan738 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Well articulated, Mr. Femi Falana. It's important to recognise that facts and figures don't lie. The Minister of Power has resorted to unjustified excuses for increasing the electricity tariffs, despite the absence of any investments that would justify such a hike.
We cannot afford to play politics with our resources while struggling to generate electricity nationwide. It's time to decentralise power. This would allow states with the capability to generate electricity to sell it to others, instead of having the federal government continually pay for non-existent infrastructure as a reason to hike with subsidy

When government removes all subsidies in a country whereby 98% of the population have less than 500,000 Naira in their bank accounts. This is a recipe for the biggest recession in the history of the world perhaps. Businesses have been forced to hike prices astronomically and as we speak the population can no longer afford basic goods, businesses are bassically unable to sell as the population can not afford goods. Most of our industries will be crippled by the end of the year! I advise Nigerians to brace themselves for the biggest recession in the history of the country perhaps even Africa! In Nigeria, we have journalists who write nonsense, and lawyers and judges who defend the indefensible! Instead of sticking together as professions charged with holding politicians and lawmakers accountable on behalf of the citizens and for the betterment of the country, we have journalists and lawyers and judges who play tribalism and tarnish the image of their various professions as a result.
In other parts of the world, politicians resign from office because there are consequences for their actions. If the citizens do not hold them accountable, the lawyer and journalists of the country would hold them accountable and force them out of office by investigating and publishing their crimes. In Nigeria, lawyers and journalists praise these people and give them hope that staying in office, even when the people do not want them, can be defended. Journalists do not write against it, and lawyers do not speak against it.
Otherwise, how can a certificate forger, a career criminal, and a drug baron be the president of Nigeria? Why are Nigerians quietly accepting it as if it is right? Otherwise, how can we allow a bad precedence to be set in our elections and in our democracy and no one is speaking up?
In 2017, President Buhari died in office. Instead of our lawyers and journalists insisting that the right thing be done, they helped the politicians to bury the matter until today. As a result of their acquiescence, Nigeria was ruled by a dead president for 6 years, as they plundered the country’s resources. And the same lies are still paraded around today, as they continue to insist that the person posing as Buhari is actually Buhari. It is a shame! The world is watching, and history is recording!

Honestly speaking, this Mr Adelabu to me is not brilliant.
How can you be concerned about how people use their units that they paid money for?
Make available the power and people will use it more, because it is better we use electricity than buying fuel at over six hundred naira per liter, and still pay for the electricity we didn't see?
When products are available, people will buy it if they need it.
How I use my light should not be your concern, what you should be concerned about is to make sure the power is available.
This Government does not have any idea on how to solve Nigeria's problems. They have put Nigeria in a more deep shit, than ever.
The way Tinubu removed fuel subsidy is the most reckless way of taking decisions. Such a decision should have been taken through a wide consultation with the stakeholders in the oil sector. After all it's about the Country, and not a personal business.

Today, I bought the same amount (2k) and 10.3 units were given. Mathematicians can calculate the percentage increase.
    Analysis
What it means, in reality, is that if you used to spend 2k prepaid token in 15 days, now, the 2k prepaid token can only take you for 5 five days. (Depending on usage)

Why are news stations not exposing the fact that people are fraudulently placed on wrong bands? This is newsworthy! People placed on Band B, like my area only get 3 to 4 hours energy per day at best. Channels please expose this.

Federal government is not sensitive to the plight of Nigerians. How can they be pampering a dysfunctional Discos who are performing less than expected. The essence of privatisation has failed. They should cease their licences of these clayfooted companies. And they should stop taking commands from IMF/World Bank who don't meanwhile for the development of Nigeria.

Nigeria pays a premium price for darkness. When it suits them, they'll be quick to compare Nigeria with countries abroad on price, but they'll never compare Nigeria with the same foreign country on value for money and other amenities.

If the FG goes to them seeking for loans, they dictate the terms.

Good points by Falana. Some his points were drawn from Joe Ajaero an expert in power plus his own informed opinion delivered energetically. The minister of power spoke foolishly. I’ve lived outside Nigeria. Sometimes I travel & leave my refrigerator on for 2 weeks. Preserving my stuff. He should do better by the ordinary people of Nigeria.
Everything the govt is saying has been blatant lies. No real policy hs helped the ordinary people. It is yet to change.

    1. Honestly, which distribution feeder supply 20 hours of electricity?
    2. Discos are private business enterprises and should be allowed to go under if they are not capable operating efficienciently.
    3. We can either do the right thing and have electricity or we can continue the mess.
    4. It's only the hyro plants that are providing over 2000mw, while the thermal plants owners continue to lie, because they are not producing they claim to generate.

It is going to cause more inflationary to the price of production and commodities/products.
For example, the company producing essential commodities and products consumption are basically powering up their machines for production, hence the price of the commodity would be like against the current heat as a removal of subsidy.
The Minister s policy is totally unacceptable and it's evil.
