Hi, Loved the video. 50 years ago I got my instrument rating. My hood was like a welder's helmet perched on top of my head...liked your a lot better. I owned a Comanche, got my instrument rating and flew 12 more hours and sold the plane. Unfortunately, I realized I did not have the time or money to stay safe. I did this! I had the unbelievable opportunity to overfly the Grand Prismatic during my last flight with Utah State University! Such a beautiful place, and the Yellowstone Airport was very nice!
Absolutley loved the shots of the geyser basins in Yellowstone and of the Tetons!! Growing up in Wyoming I spent many vacations in the northwest corner of the state. Had never seen the sights from your view. Beautiful! Thanks for the ride!

Hi Matt, Love following along on your adventures. Curious why you are using the RED's? They don't seem to have any vibration damping. My son uses the RED high end stuff for his business.
Currency for IFR when I was still active was 6 hours of actual or hood/6 approaches to Miniums/in the last 6 months. You'd be crazy for doing actual Hard IFR if your currency was 5 months ago on one trip.
Matt, I’ll be flying in to Jackson next weekend to visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton. It’s a long trip from Pennsylvania but we will try to replicate your Grand Prismatic spring flyover if the weather is good. It’s not clear from the video if you are posting from this summer or from past years, especially since your alternator footage was from years ago. Can you clarify?

I hope all is well~ * The geographical features in this short film are amazing; and the topography is presenting its winds aloft. * The brilliant colors in the water are puzzling: it's usually one color. For example sulphur Springs, but there is the likelihood of a blue pool close. IMC * Is the accessory on your glasses to limit your vision to instrument flying? Thankyou 🌏🇦🇺
The colors at yellowstone are the range of different temperatures. The different colors result from different microbiomes of different types of algae and bacteria. The blue area is an area of intense heat where algae can't survive and is sterile. The temperature of the water in the center is around 70C.

I have a question with the safety pilot thing. Doesn't the safety pilot need access to the controls? I'm not sure if that control set up qualifies as that, as he can't emidiatly take the controls and maneuver from traffic

@@jonathanguthrie9368 I’m sure you can. ATC doesn’t know who’s allowed or isn’t. It’s up to the pilot to have the legal requirements and legal minimums. You can be cleared for a CAT1 ILS even if it’s below minimums. Being it’s a private airpark you can’t touch down tho. So the only legal way most of us could shoot the approach is on your own in VMC.
You Hand Fly the Approach back into Alpine 46U? GOOD BOY you see so many guys use the AP till Miniums or just above. What are they going to do when the AP fails them in Low IFR?

@@robertadams2857 It's not inexpensive but once you use one, you'll understand the value. They are software programmed specifically for your plane and the stress to which the nose strut must not be subjected. Put it in a situation where the stress is going to be too much and the tug will stop until you correct that situation.
Enjoy life to the fullest while we have it. Tomorrow's never promised no need worrying about something that COULD happen when you can be making amazing memories of things that ACTUALLY happened!!!

Just flew over Arco a few days ago. On the sectional it’s listed as “Arco-Butte”, I imagine that’s what the B is for on the hillside.
The most impressive shot was over the green blue and Orange sulfur pool. Looks like a shot from the Hubble.
I believe the B on the hill stands for Butte County.

A Best Tug was one of THE best things I did for my plane specifically the protection of that nosewheel strut.
