I think it was a voice in my head that once said, "time is best understood by watching grass grow." 😆 If it never appeared to change, how would you know that any time has elapsed? That was the first time I ever entertained the notions of both stillness and perceptual increments. Fascinating about your father's headaches Sarah. 🧠 Willful perception is certainly an underutilized power.

I'll aim for some regularity in 2025, or maybe I shall just be consistent in my irregularity.

Perfumes (or strong scent in general) can be an actual trigger for migraine, though. I'm a migraine patient, officially diasgnosed, but luckily it is not a trigger for me. But then again, many people speaking of migraine without having had a proper diagnosis. So I'm not disagreeing with your statement in general, just wanted to point out that it's not impossible (and yes, there've been studies about scent as a trigger for migraine). In very most cases people I met who stated that (most) perfume gives them headaches (or asthma) never had sucha reaction with me, an I always were perfume. Still they insisted I must not reapply perfume because they'll suffer if I do (but couldn't answer why they weren't suffering all day long when they were with me and needless to add that they did not suffer when I secretly reapplied anyway, neither from a headache nore from asthma [in the latter case it were two people, both were heavy smokers, both did not care much about what non smokers think so I had no inhibitions regarding my perfume, and assumed they were talking bs anyway. With them not even realising I did reapply I must have been right with that assumption]).
Safranal being so restricted now is a tragedy, in more than just one regard.. beside it (and saffron naturals) being lovely, it will cause an even higher use of other materials and most saffron dominant fragrances I smelled already contain molecules I dislike in too high doses - after the restriction took place those are now dosed even higher in fragrances which formerly contained a good dose of safranal as well. 😕
And congratulations to your students and their success (which means congratulations for their teacher as well)! 😃

I don't doubt at all that people's headaches are real. I get flashing light and lost feeling in my fingers migraines from a change in air pressure, but only if I'm already exhausted. My dad also got them from a flash of light in the car's rear view mirror. He didn't like motorbikes driving behind him, but then driving made him anxious because he had learned late in life. I absolutely understand that they are triggers; I'm thinking about people who are giving themselves additional anxiety about perfumes; the ones who will turn up to a perfume event to tell me that they can't be near perfume, or wait until the day of a performance which they have known about for weeks to announce that they have a problem with it, causing maximum disruption. As I was saying, I have a nephew with severe allergies, who can't put a lot of things on his skin, or eat nuts. He would die. I'm not sure what the answer is for people with asthma. My observation is specifically about people who have been terrified into believing that perfume is poisonous to the point that its presence makes them so anxious they feel ill.
