Hamlet was a bit of a scold to everyone he came into contact within the castle except same age, same class, male friends. Typical underemployed thirty year old.
In David's Hamlet Patrick Stewart plays both Claudius and the ghost of Hamlet's father. (Some of the other actors played dual parts, too, but probably not meant to be noticed.)
Saw a production of Goethes Faust that did that brilliantly. They had like two people playing Faust but Mephistopheles lines were all said by different characters and it was confusing (definately not something someone without knowledge of the book would be able to follow) but it was also sooo good. God i love theatre.
LOOK 👏🏻 AT 👏🏻 THAT 👏🏻 TIMING. I work in amateur-to-semi-professional theater and the number one detriment to a show’s pace is when actors fail to pick up their lines in a timely manner. Notice how Michael and David almost seem to overlap one another? That’s now it’s supposed to sound. Granted, it’s typically between different characters (not multiple actors reading the same character), but the point still stands.
I'm not an actor at all, but one thing I notice sooo much is when one character is supposed to interrupt another, and there's this moment when the first character, who should be full steam, pauses - then the "interrupter" comes in a full beat later. David and Michael just had this perfectly timed, and without a rehearsal or warning at all. This is real acting.
@@nathanadler8316 That's the exact reason why my drama teacher always told us to put down one or two lines more if someone was supposed to interrupt us, just so there wouldn't be a void. And in Good Omens, David Tennant has definitely done the same in the satanist convent/paintball range. Otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten "I'm not nice. Nice is a four letter word." Because why on earth would Crowley specify that?
@@notAshildr Saying "______ is a four-letter word" is a colloquial way to say that you consider that word a curse word or insult (since a lot of swear words in English are four letters), so that would make sense in context.
In the book, Aziraphale says "You know, Crowley, I've always said that, deep down inside you, you're really quite a --" and Crowley interrupts and says: "All right, all *right.* Tell the whole blessed world, why don't you?"
And my David Tennant crush continues too. I’ll tell you: we’re weak. They just have to talk and here we are, sighing with hearts in our eyes. That’s weakness. And you know what? I don’t even care 😄
I've never seen nor read Hamlet (but will very soon), but this made it feel like Michael and David were twin-hamlet-brothers, finishing each other sentences like Fred & George, and John's Ophelia was like this edgy teen that has had it with the annoying Hamlet-twins. Love it.
🤣 Word of advice, if you have never seen Hamlet, watch Kenneth Branagh’s film version. It is what made me fall in love with Shakespeare! Also David has done a filmed version and Micheal has a radio play version available, if you are interested.
I really loved Michael Sheen and David Tennant before Good Omens, but then I saw the show ... I think I'm obsessed with those two aaaghs I am also very happy because more people now know Michael Sheen thanks to Good Omens, he has made many wonderful films, I personally loved him in Wilde.
This was possibly the greatest 2 minutes of content I've ever witnessed No wonder they're always competing for roles they act so seamlessly together They should definitely do a full play of alternating doing one character Would be absolutely brilliant
I saw David & his understudy as he had to take a brake after badly hurting his back- then returned bounding with energy. Sheen was very different you sort of felt his pain & how lost he was, I wanted to give him a hug & protect him- end was nice twist. By Tennant's was when it was crazy Who fan time with as many lined up to see him after as were inside the RSC. I saw DT yrs before in Stratford "Comedy of Errors" then "Romeo & Juliet" next year. Both showed off there acting talents, would recommend seeing them live (theatre) & Good Omens is great they work so well together. I wish there was more as the characters fit them so well, I hope they work together again soon- the show has an amazing cast, maybe why it seemed to take so long to finish. Need to re-watch.
V J I watched Tennant in „Much ado about nothing“ which I enjoyed SO much. Never seen Michael Sheen on stage, I‘d probably do horrible things to get a ticket. Do you know if there are clips of Sheen‘s Hamlet out there?
The Much ado is on TH-cam broken up, it was great. I don't think Sheen's was filmed but Tennant's Hamlet was for RSC . I think Sheen did a audio I had it ages ago, tried to find it but it's on a MP3 of the past. They used to have a good shop in Stratford with unusual Shakespeare things but Internet sort of shut it. If your in London Globe may or possibly National- try there web sights. It was at the Young Vic I don't think they film for the public. Sad thing is it was rather empty, I got tickets for later shows easily & He was so good. It became like an asylum the more the play went on, only for him to do a quick change to be Fortinbras (spelling?) the new King. I think the audio was Ar.. something, didn't think it was BBC- think that was Sam West- it was a while ago. Hope you can find something, the show on either 2007-2016 sorry moved in between. Fond memory they have a female Hamlet on this year, may go. Happy hunting.
Michael Sheen's Hamlet BBC radio play is on audible. The cd is on Amazon (US) for $50. I saw David Tennant in Richard II in New York. He was wonderful. The whole cast was. The earlier production that got filmed had a largely different cast. Some changes were better than others. I saw it with Jasper Britton as Bolingbroke. He was a delightful addition. Changed the energy, I think.
I love how Michael sheen in every video if he is asked to say something or read something he just immediately starts screaming that thing with a bit of aggressive tone 😂😂
The synergy Michael and David have is off the charts. I refuse to believe they did not rehearse this at least a bit before the recording cause it's way too perfect
I want to hear these both Sheen and Tennant together reading not important what even the list of ingredients or recipes. They are real soulmates and may act all
"what should such fellows as I do crawling between Earth and Heaven ??" - *Probably Aziraphale at some point, trying to explain Gabriel why he enjoys food and books and material stuff*
I would 100% watch this production of Hamlets. Also, wow: poor Ophelia! There is probably something valuable to looking at the confrontation scene and the scenes after with her feeling like the entirety of male censure is clamouring at her terrifyingly.
yes "where's your father" "at home my lord" is great but can we also talk about "what should such fellows as i do crawling between Earth and heaven" omg
Jon Hamm And The Hammlets. Good band name that
'ham-lettes' sounds like a chorus line
Jon and the Hammlets

I love that part jhfskdhajsh

I'd be silent for a bit if David Tennant shouted anything at me in Scottish!!
That "where's your fatheeeerrrr?" in a Scottish Accent.

I'm crying. Hamlet switching accents constantly. Ophelia's attitude. It's beautiful.
I can't help but notice it's two Hamlets and a Hamm....and they didn't even mention it!!
I made this 666 likes. Guess I am on Crowley’s now.
this needs to become a thing
Why does it sound like two dads scolding their rebellious teenage daughter
That is the truest Thing in the Comments xD
It's Ineffable Husbands scolding theot daughter
Azeraphel and Crowley getting to shout at Gabriel after meeting Shakespeare!
Hamlet was a bit of a scold to everyone he came into contact within the castle except same age, same class, male friends. Typical underemployed thirty year old.
yeah my dad has told me to get myself to a nunnery many times
"At home my lord" killed me
I am in literal tears goddamn it Jon
I would pay to see the actual play with the schizophrenic hamlets and jon hamm as a passive-agressive Ophelia
Honestly, same. I'd give my right arm for it. (Or somebody's right arm, anyway)
@@markyjanu10 You're right: they are plenty of right arms around; no sense in wasting a good one :)
one hundred percent
WHERE'S YOUR FATHER?
...At home, my lord.
This killed me.
Gabriel calling Crowley lord?!
best ophelia we could have wished for, i'll be expecting oscar nominations soon
“Where’s your faaaather?” Best part ever 😂😂😂😂😂 I love him, really
Like in Broadchurch when David says furiously "I'm a FATHER"!
The Scottish “where’s your faaaather?!” Killed me
That's actually a really good idea for a stage production, two Hamlets switching lines!
Got a another idea. 2 Macbeths.
I'm sure it's been done somewhere. Best Moby dick I ever saw had all 8 men playing Ahab.
I watched one with 3 hamlet's, it.. almost worked

Jon Hamm: Setting new standards in laidbackness.
michael and david are the most chaotic duo i love it

Please, please for the love of Laertes someone please cast John as Ophelia in a full length play, I''m dying to see it.

You know the casting was great when their on-screen dynamic is their actual dynamic in real life. Literally.
You know the chemistry between michael and david is great when john has to call them out to pay attention to the interviewer at 1:57 lol😂
it was like good cop bad cop but all around hamlet cop
Jon Hamm made me believe I was IN Denmark....well done.

David, Michael, Jon AND Natalie, with Shakespeare, to promote Good Omens. This is the perfect video. This is perfection
David and Michael are so in tune that they can act the same part as if it were rehearsed. I mean they speak almost like it was one person.
